I recently bought my car in for a wet belt change through a friend recommendation, from start to finish I can only describe the service I have received as inadequate & disgraceful.
I was first wrongly quoted £700 for the job to then be told on the day when collecting the car, my bill was £1300 and received no invoice or receipt, my log book & locking wheel nut dumped in the foot well and my car dumped on a kerb down the side of the garage.
Within a week my oil light came on, I rang over the weekend multiple times and was promised someone from the service team would ring me back.
Spoke to the service manager James, who was very dismissive, arrogant & rude towards me whilst I told him how I was unsatisfied with the work that had been done and how I was charged £600 more than the original quote.
After my experience at Evans Halshaw I took my car to my local Peugeot garage for tests and it turns out Evan’s Halshaw didn’t put enough oil in on the wet belt change, which to be honest just sums it up from them. Very sloppy service - not what you’d pay £1300 for.
I would AVOID this garage entirely.

Very friendly staff, car returned washed, and inside cleaned. Car picked up and returned, an extra bonus. We have been using them for over twenty years.

I have received a terrible service from start to finish which I was surprised by given the other reviews.

Please be aware if wanting to purchase the Mazda CX-3 CX66 XSM you may want to check that the work has been done sufficiently, so you don’t find yourself in the same position that I have!

The car was delivered to me with the DPF senor on - I followed Evans Halshaw's instructions and got it booked in for a diagnostic with my local Mazda garage. The quote was over £4,000!! I decided to return the car for a full refund.

The Mazda was eventually collected from me on 30/01/2025. I received notification that it was delivered to E.H the next day, so I chased up on getting my refund processed which I was told would be done as soon as they have received the car. I hadn’t heard anything so I chased again on Monday 03/02 morning (quite desperate now as I have been without a car) to ask for confirmation and tried to call 4 times over the morning and afternoon, but I couldn’t get through. I received an email back to say it had only been processed that morning and it should be in my account within two working days. It got to 07/02/2025 (4 working days later!) and I had to chase again as still nothing, and I was told that there were no issues on their end.

It’s now Monday the 10th Feb and I am still awaiting my refund!

Everything from start to finish has been very stressful and the service just terrible throughout. I complained 3 times during the process and been passed through 3 different staff members and this still hasn’t made the slightest bit of difference in how everything has been handled.

I have missed out so many other frustrating and unprofessional issues, prior to the purchase of the car (like not being able to access the keys after I drove over 100 miles to view it!) and upon delivery the salesman turned up 2 hours later than originally agreed with his girlfriend and they had left unwanted items/rubbish in my new car.

I really hope others won't receive the same level of service that I have. To give some constructive advise, it would have been nice to be kept in the loop with things, so that I didn't need to constantly chase, especially when things started to go wrong.

Quick and easy service, no problems whatsoever.

Staff kept me informed about the car and were very helpful and friendly.

Always a great welcome and prompt response,still think you need to sort out your telephone system will ring no answer then if you get through you got lots choices to press it be nice to go straight to a human being !

I brought a car on the 11th of December 2024, It broke down within two hours of picking up this car. I still haven’t had this car back 7 weeks later. I have been given a courtesy car, however this is not the car that I have paid for. This is the minimum that I would expect as within two hours of picking this car up the engine light came on and it was undriveable. I have constantly had to ring up asking what’s wrong with my car and had no updates from the garage itself. Not one single phone call off them updating me. It has always been me chasing them up and ringing them. The Customer service I have received has been awful too, for example when I asked for compensation on the phone. They have also refused to start the 2 year warranty I have paid for from the day I pick the car up when it is fixed, They have said it starts from the day I brought the car in December. Which doesn’t make sense as I have been paying £40 a month for two months for a car I haven’t been driving. I’d be greatful if someone from customer service could contact me as I am really unhappy with the service I have been provided.
****UPDATE*****
Still no contact from Evans Halshaw Wrexham garage even after an email from customer complaints saying that I would get one.
Contacted the garage to reject car Friday night at around 5pm and said that i’d get contacted early Monday morning but yet again still no contact. I have now contacted the finance company and rejected the car via them.
AWFUL customer service if anything goes wrong.
