Hassan is Great

Hassan helped me out today. He was very knowledgeable about the policies and procedures. I had multiple questions about the car to which he answered all of them and if he didn’t know an answer he found out for me. Would definitely come back and buy another car from him.

Check your tires!

So I bought my car 7/19 at the riverside, ca location and they were nice.. but be careful with the cars. I got a Nissan pathfinder and was told the door had an issue and didn’t lock/ unlock with the key so I had to use the warranty to get it fixed.. ok no problem that was fine.. my appt was scheduled for 8/7 at the Nissan dealership. But before I went to my appt on 8/5 my engine light came on with two other lights for a total of three lights. So on 8/7 they took a look at everything and went through the warranty to get it fixed but they also check the rest of the car and I was made aware that they also have two tires that should be changed because they are not good and not recommended for driving a distance. So the dealer attempted to ask the warranty for that too and was told no because it didn’t cause a failure. So be careful because as a mother of 4 who just got a car for her and her kids and be told be careful with the tires and they denied them is pretty crazy. So make sure to check everything including the tires. But they at least fixed the door and the engine lights

I was sold a Chevy Equinox at the end…

I was sold a Chevy Equinox from DriveTime at the end of March 2025. The buying process was a positive one. I was given 7 days to return it but I feel that just isn’t long enough. After the 7th day I had to reset the clock and had to do it every several days. Then the dashboard lights would go off and come back on a few minutes later. It did that a couple of times a day. I just thought it was over sensitivity to sunlight. I think I was in denial because I didn’t want to think there was something wrong. However, I was coming home one Friday evening during rush hour traffic in 85 degrees and the air conditioner stopped and when it came back on it was blowing hot air. It would shut off again and come back on blowing cold air for a moment but went back to hot air. The dashboard lights went completely dark. The clock stopped, the radio started flickering in and out and the wipers looked like they were trying to go on. While all this was happening at once, I became alarmed hoping my steering and brakes wouldn’t give out. I was scared to death and I still had 30 more miles to go to get home. Silverstone extended warranty referred me Rotolo Chevrolet and said when the service dept got back to them with a diagnosis, they would pay to get it fix and they’ll pay for a car rental up to $30 a day. I also had a $100 deductible. A week goes by and I’m informed by Rotolo that the whole dashboard needed to be replaced. Then he tells me, my extended warranty will not cover it. Which also means, the car rental is not covered either. To top it all off, the part is backordered. I called DriveTime immediately and they referred me to customer relations. I told them I just want my money back and they can have the car back. They wouldn’t do it. By this time I was sobbing on the phone because I was heartbroken after not having a car for 4 years and just getting a job when I was recovering from an auto accident, surgeries and severe COVID twice in the last 4 years. They would do absolutely nothing to help me and that was the final word. The next day Rotolo calls and says good new, Silverstone is paying for the repairs and the car rental. That wasn’t right though. I found out that customer relations gave the approval but they still would not pay for the rental. I’m still out over $1,000 in a rental so I can get back and forth to work. We are now in July 2025 and the part is still backordered and I am still shelving out $500 a week on a rental. I can’t make my car payment, the finance company will not let me skip a month because I haven’t had the car long enough. I just want to give the car back and get my money back and the best solution I got was, surrender the car but you lose your deposit and my credit for 7-10 years. I’m also going add the fact I can’t put my license plate on. For some reason there a too many holes in the bumper where the license plate is supposed to go. But none of them are aligned right. WTH!! Where do they get these cars? I believe they knew this car had issues and just wanted to get it off the lot. But now I’m stuck with a car that isn’t running, a loan payment I can’t pay and I’m going broke on rental fees. Don’t go to DriveTime. Every car I test drove didn’t feel right but the Equinox made it till right after the return window. Very convenient.

DRIVE TIME - MONTCLAIR & RIVERSIDE - BAIT AND SWITCH TACTICS, ENDLESS DEMANDS, AND UTTER DISREGARD FOR CUSTOMER TIME

Let me preface this by saying that my experience with Drive Time in both Montclair and Riverside has been nothing short of a complete and utter disaster. As someone with less-than-perfect credit, I approached Drive Time with cautious optimism, understanding their business model of providing vehicle financing for individuals in such situations. However, what I encountered was a bait-and-switch scheme, endless and unreasonable demands, and a shocking disregard for my time and documentation.

Despite being pre-approved online with zero down payment, I was subjected to an exhaustive and frankly insulting process. I willingly provided every single document requested, including detailed bank statements, official Articles of Incorporation for my business, the Statement of Information filed with the state, and my government-issued EIN. I jumped through every hoop, operating in good faith that I was moving towards securing a vehicle.

To add insult to injury, I was then made to waste hours of my time driving three different vehicles and conducting thorough end-to-end inspections on each. This entire process felt designed to invest my time and energy, making it harder to walk away.

Then came the kicker. After all the time wasted and documents provided, and even after I had placed a $500 hold on a vehicle I liked, they had the nerve to continue crying and requiring even more information. This was after I had already surrendered a mountain of official documentation! Today alone, they wasted an additional two hours of my precious time, bringing the total time squandered to a staggering six hours in pursuit of a vehicle.

It became painfully clear that there was no end in sight to their unreasonable demands. I was just waiting for them to conjure up yet another arbitrary requirement, likely another unexpected financial burden. This entire ordeal felt like a deliberate tactic to string me along.

And let's not forget their demand for a "signature verification card" from my bank. As I stated before, I contacted multiple major banks – Wells Fargo, Bank of America, and my own bank, US Bank – and was explicitly told that no such "signature verification card" exists for customers. The only document they could provide was a verification of ownership letter, which I promptly obtained, along with all the original business documents to further prove my legitimacy. Despite providing this and being prepared to pay the initially unmentioned $2,000, Drive Time in Riverside flatly stated that it was a "no-go" without this mythical document.

The final straw was their rude and dismissive attitude, acting as if they didn't need my business. In my life, I have never experienced such anguish and despair simply trying to purchase a vehicle. Yes, my credit may not be perfect, but they explicitly stated it wouldn't be an issue.

To anyone even considering Drive Time, I implore you: RUN, don't walk, to a different dealership. Drive Time in Montclair and Riverside are masters of the bait-and-switch, experts at wasting your time, and clearly operate with a profound lack of respect for their customers. You will save yourself countless hours, immense frustration, and a considerable amount of anguish by taking your business elsewhere. Drive Time is nothing but a colossal waste of your time.

Horrible experiance

Horrible experiance. Thought i bought a good car turns out they sell bad cars. The vehicle broke down within 1 week and i was told warranty would cover it but they won’t, i am beyond disappointed with this car buying experience now i have to pay for the repairs out of pocket. I would NOT recommend drive time to anyone who is looking for a decent vehicle.
