Death smell…
It doesnt just smell a lil sour...it legit smells of death. This was rancid BEFORE it froze. The 2 stars is for actually sending the order overnight.

I ordered two Green Circle turkeys to feed 25 people for Thanksgiving. Placed my order in October and the items were in stock. The day before Thanksgiving Dartagnan delivered instead two small turkey breasts (not whole turkeys as ordered) of inferior quality. Customer service was rude and dismissive and did not do anything to fix the order. Stay far away from these people and certainly do not trust your holidays with their service. Dishonest and incompetent.
I was a frequent shopper
I was a frequent shopper. Usually I would buy a lot when they had a 40% off flash sale as they are so expensive. I purchased their duck breast and found it tough and bitter upon cooking. I assumed it was a quality control issue that they would appreciate learning about. I sent an email with the product ID numbers. They emailed back that the breasts were delivered a few months previously and had been frozen too long. Also added that the time to mail back an unsatisfactory product was only a few days. I accepted this without complaint (was not complaining initially, just informing). I was quite surprised that they then took me off their email list so I never got notification of sales from then on. I found this to be a bit mean spirited. There are plenty of other gourmet food suppliers to order from so I have not missed them. However, to remove a customer of many years from the email list simply because he notified them of a possible quality control issue is very arrogant.

I bought wagyu beef burgers. They were supposed to be good, however the burgers had bone in them like cheap hamburger.
Horrible Customer Service - Rude
I placed an order for some meat for my family and I for a special occasion. The package was supposed to deliver on Thursday but didn’t end up delivering. Since the company is closed over the weekend, I couldn’t call, and getting an email back is nearly impossible because they work by business days. I contacted through email and finally they answered and were straight up nasty and rude because I didn’t contact them the day of “delivery”. As if it’s my fault that I did not get my food. Never using this company again. Their customer service is horrible and extremely rude. If you’re working in customer service, expect issues!!! Don’t be rude and blame the customer for something completely out of their control!!!
When you receive duck FAT instead of foie gras!
I placed a duck foie gras order to be delivered December 9, for the Xmas holidays: Two 8 oz oval terrines of duck foie gras. Instead, I received HALF DUCK FAT and half foie gras -see photo-. On top of that, BOTH foie gras were VERY BITTER: NEVER again!
Great customer service…
Had a prime rib roast arrive a day late and it was thawed. We did not want to refreeze and we were not ready to cook. They immediately set up another delivery even though it was shipping companies fault.

After FedEx screwed-up my delivery, before I even contacted them, D’Artagan issued an instant refund.
I’ll definitely order from them again, in particularly their excellent foie gras products.

Ordered hanger steaks, and a capon. Top dollar.
The steaks arrived with broached packaging and the capon, which was supposed to weigh a minimum of 6 ponds was 2 pounds under weight.
When I contacted customer service, they offered to refund the difference in price for the under weight capon, but not the whole price.
After much arguing I pointed out to them that shipping underweight items across state lines was a federal issue.
I got my refund.
Poor quality customer service and care
Poor quality customer service and care. I had a package of meat arrive as a gift with the meat not chilled and unsafe to eat. D'Artagnan stated to my father the purchaser of the gift that they would only refund half of the order. This is unacceptable.
NEVER order from Dartagnan
NEVER order from Dartagnan. I was promised a delivery for 8 veal porterhouse chops yesterday, 7/7, for a dinner party tonight, 7/8. I was told today there was a delay because of "4th of July business." I was then promised by Fed Ex the chops would arrive by 8:00 tonight. Nothing. No explanation. Nothing. Dinner party ruined. If Dartagnan can't rely on their delivery service to complete a transaction then NEVER, I repeat, NEVER, use them. I spent $200 for a special dinner for friends and was bitterly disappointed. Avoid them at all costs. They just cost me a bundle for nothing.
DID YOU KNOW? I DIDN'T!
I pulled out a frozen steak from my freezer, which I bought from dartagnan. It was mostly hard fat. I wrote them and they told me that
1) I needed to tell them the code from the package the steak was in and
2) I need to send them photos and
3) that any complaints needed to be told to them within five days of purchase!
How is a customer supposed to know this?
The steaks I've bought from them are really terrible. They used to be a good company, but the meats I've gotten are mostly fat and not the good fat, but the very hard fat. I don't know what's going on, but their reputation as a great source of meats is on the slide down. I'm not sending any photos to prove to them how bad their meat is. I just will not buy from them again. They lost a customer.
Anyone reading this will now knows that dartagnan makes you go through hoops if you have a bad steak. If you buy from them, you'll have to write down the information from the package and do it within five days. Whoever heard of this? This is very bad customer service. But, it doesn't matter. I won't be a customer.

and it was disgusting. It was grey looking and slimy.
I am going to throw away and I would like to get reimbursed for $38.99.

Bloody chicken legs
I ordered organic chicken legs. They were so bloody that we could not eat them. I soaked the before cooking. It did not help. To much blood.

"The fact that I typed in "Fresh Turkey" and your website stated they were frozen in order to ship was understandable.
But the turkey I received was frozen prior to November 29, 2020. I definitely will not be cooking a turkey that's been frozen for 5 months.
I don't believe I will be using your company again."
The Brand Has Gone Downhill
The Australian grass-fed beef they're selling in grocery stores is terrible. Not mediocre, but terrible. Something I'd expect from an Associated or Met Foods for a quarter of the price. I've tried their strip twice, and twice took a few bites and fed the rest to my dogs. It's shocking, really. For the record, I was a formally-trained cook for 15 years.

The best Christmas present ever.
My daughter is a rural mail carrier and working every day except Christmas Day. I wanted her to still be able to have her kids and grandkids for dinner on Christmas with as little work as possible involved and I ordered the spiral sliced ham for her. She reported it arrived in perfect condition and was the best tasting ham her family had ever experienced. Not only was there enough for her Christmas dinner but enough to send home with each of her three girls for their breakfast the next day. She made her delicious family favorite split pea soup for the weekend with the hambone and extra chunks of leftover ham. For me it was money well spent to hear how happy she was with it.I’m planning to order it again for other family events .
Amazing Customer Service!!!
D'Artagnan is a huge splurge for us and we were excited to try their boar for Christmas...so I was devastated when FedEx didn't deliver on time and refused to expedite the delivery to send over the weekend (despite telling them repeatedly that it contained perishable raw meat!!). The meat sat unrefrigerated over the weekend, my spirits sinking by the hour. By Monday I still hadn't received my order, had been on multiple awful customer service calls with FedEx, and I was dreading the worst when I called D'Artagnan...but wow did they knock it out of the park!!
D'Artagnan customer service was so kind, they just verified the timing via tracking and got to work fixing things immediately!! When I sheepishly asked if I could possibly get it before Christmas I was expecting at best a tentative "possibly", but I was assured it would be sent out THAT DAY and they would pay for even higher priority shipping to make sure it was here in time. I received it NEXT DAY and D'Artagnan threw in a bunch of extra goodies to apologize for the inconvenience at no additional charge...I was both so relieved and so overwhelmed with the generosity.
I haven't experienced customer service this responsive or kind...ever!
I was so nervous to order meat online and after the FedEx screw up, I was convinced I never would again....but D'Artagnan really turned that around. Even if things didn't happen as expected, they more than made up for it and I was so well taken care of...I would definitely recommend ordering from them and I plan to again in the future!
PS: I have yet to taste the boar, but the duck prosciutto is AMAZING!
Great produce, great customer service
I have ordered from d’artagnan before and the produce has been great, however this review is for how they handled a cancellation/refund that I’d asked for because our travel plans were messed up by covid 19.
Needless to say it was incredibly straightforward and quick to let them know what the problem was and for d’artagnan to process the refund.
