Background:

I entered a 5-year contract with Croner after a sales call where multiple aspects of the service were misrepresented, which appears consistent with other reviewers. As a result, I agreed to purchase their environment and health and safety product.

From the outset, I could not access the environment product. I spent several hours trying to reach customer support and, when I finally did, I was repeatedly passed between departments without resolution. Eventually, I was told the system had been set up incorrectly due to their mistake and that it was a “common problem”.

Although it was temporarily fixed, the next time I tried to access it I found it was not working again. Again, I had to spend several hours, only to be provided with a temporary fix. It stopped working again shortly after.

Because of this recurring issue, and Croner’s inability to deal with it effectively, the product has not worked for the first three years of the five-year contract. In total, after wasting many hours chasing them, I have only been able to use the product for a few hours.

Despite this, in December 2025 I was issued with another invoice for £1,200 as payment for year 4. By this time, I had already paid £3,600 for a product that is clearly not fit for purpose and customer service that is totally inadequate.

I am currently dealing with their Solutions Team, who are unable to resolve the matter or offer a meaningful solution. Their proposal is for me to forgo the £3,600 I have already paid for the product and to pay a further £1,660 to reduce the term of the contract.

Despite the positive and understanding impression they try to portray here, the reality has been very different in my experience. They are not interested in working out a credible solution. Instead, they seem to tie you into a crippling contract and try to extract as much money out of you as is possible.

Quick response with a clear reply and reference to legislation

James Eason helped with defending our R&D tax credit claim against HMRC clawback. His written correspondence to HMRC was so comprehensive and ran rings around the rather amateur responses and claims by HMRC. He carefully managed to get us to an Alternative Dispute Resolution meeting where we were able to engage with the grown-ups at HMRC. The case against us was dropped immediately on all counts, thanks not only to the facts, but to James's great skill in putting our case over. Would highly recommend James.
