I was completely disgusted this evening that I had to remove my fruit and vegetables from their bags at the checkout, your plastic bags weigh almost nothing, if you were going to move towards more environmental improvements you shouldn't be supplying plastic bags full stop. I don't want to have my fruit and veg contaminated with raw meat juices that I regularly see dripping/leaking on your conveyor belts & extremely lazy staff or possibly untrained staff about cross contamination, who rub it down with a bit of kitchen paper. This is absolutely not hygienic. Plus sort some type of policy so consumers can transfer their fruit and veg safely, possibly small veg baskets that can be placed on the belt and then bagged by your staff. This has to be one of the worst examples of putting customers first.. I do wash my produce at home but this new policy is absolutely pathetic, I won't be emptying my bags of produce, your staff can do that & then rebag.

Experienced a casual racist conversation going on between a customer and staff member at NorthWest Mall. Contacted Countdown about this, and they just replied saying that they can't control what people talk about.
Lovely to be dismissed, but we're used to it!
Just hope the customer service team at head office who brush things like this under the carpet never have to experience this casual racism on a near daily basis.

For years we have shopped at Pak'nSave & Countdown, Recently we became more & more analytical. The truth is (everybody would see the same prices) Countdown priced a handful of items as cheap or cheaper than others to entice, once you are there you are being fleeced! The other 1000 products are 20-40% more expensive than Pak'nSave & Indian & Chinese smaller supermarkets! This is exorbitant & all NZders must do something for moral & ethics. Time to complain or even boycott Countdown, & alert the NZ Comm Comm. S T..

As per past 6months...shelves with next to no stock, limited check outs open with customers queing to be served!! Numerous people agree

I went to Countdown, Featherston Street, Palmerston North at 12.58, picked up a basket and placed in it five items, I went to assisted checkout but only one working, Large line-up of customers with full trollies.
I couldn't wait as I had a bus to catch at 1.20pm so I left basket at checkout so that I could catch bus home. At 80 yrs I can't walk 3 kilometres home with carry bag.

I had the unpleasant experience of dealing with a rude and aggressive duty manager on the phone trying to sort out a missing online delivery. If your staff cannot handle complaints professionally with respect to the customer then they should not be working there. You have now lost a customer of many decades.

Bad enough the food is overpriced but now its rotten as well! Keep your receipts so you can return products. I bought packaged sliced chicken, stuff smelt vile and had black mould bits. In same shop raisins were old and inedible. Previously bought water crackers on special were stale. Stock isn't moving as fast now as grossly overpriced. Check useby dates before you buy & keep your receipts to return

I've been using countdown for some time now, several years at least. I am really very happy with the service. Today after being sick for a week, the driver brought 300$ worth of groceries up the flight of stairs to my apartment. It was greatly appreciated.

In addition, every now and then a promotional item is dropped into my order and its always a nice surprise.

It beats having to shop myself, I have more important things to do with my time and this helps me a great deal.

They only have two checkouts open at any one time. Very frustrating.
They have six , self serve but only two are cash.
When asking the supervisor about,
it she kept walking and didn't seem to care. Very rude.NEVER GOING BACK.

We moved here four weeks ago to the Wainuiomata Retirement village ,the Countdown here is amazing and the checkout staff are fantastic as we are elderly we find it hard to do cards and keep up with packing ,but no need here as we have always had our groceries packed by the super friendly staff .Love Countdown Wainuiomata

The Palms Countdown never has their outside lights on so you dont know if they are open or not. Have Rang them numerous times about this, told them they are losing customers.They dont care, keep blaming The Palms, which also do not have their main street sign light on anymore for the passed 3 months ,tried to ring them too. passed the buck. Shopped at Countdown today, the check out operator asked if I had a Gold card meaning I am over 65. I am 54 he laughed, he thought it was funny. I came home and cried I have a special needs child and do not need negative people serving me. Countdown owners need to sort it out over there please, hence you have 2 star ratings, and thats not from me.

I am writing this comment out of pure frustration. I went to my local countdown in fielding yesterday. I was extremely disappointed and offended. The staff I interacted with were rude, hostile and disrespectful. I am a 61yr old man who is now disabled due to back trauma. It takes a lot of energy and is very difficult for me to get around in an environment like that without experiencing severe pain, and my budget is limited. I was charged nearly $240.00 for basic items. That in itself is nothing sort of criminal! 2/3rds of my merger income and for what?! To be insulted, humiliated and treated like a piece of crap is completely unacceptable to me. The couple next to me were shaken by how I was treated and approached me in the carpark to express their disgust and as a consequence, I will NEVER step foot inside one of your disgusting businesses again. I am more than a little upset with how I have been treated, NOT just on this occasion, but on other occasions also. All have been unprovoked personal attacks on me, and I don't know how you are able to employ such nasty, rude aggressive staff and still run a viable business. I am always polite and was brought up to treat others with respect and dignity. Sadly, over the past few years hgowever, this has not been reciprocated, and has left me with a phobia of going into businesses like yours! I hope the conduct of your staff will be addressed at some point before someone less understanding than me lashes out in anger. I almost hit the precipice yesterday! It took a great deal of self-control NOT to lash out in a tirade of verbal abuse, at a minimum! I'm sure there are many others who have experienced the same sort of treatment by some of your lesser educated staff. Please address this as soon as possible! This seems to be an ongoing issue that clearly needs to be remedied! I am furious and this was the last straw. Your company is a disgrace and you do not deserve our support. I will be taking my dollars elsewhere from now on! I would have given your business a quarter star if the option was provided and I can see why it is not.

CD's own brand Belgian chocolate, milk chocolate with salted caramel.
How do they get away with calling it Belgian chocolate? It's too sweet, too salted and just generally awful.
Would rather pay extra for a decent chocolate like Whittakers

Colgate Max Fresh toothpaste - 1 only on shelf.

Today and every other time I visit a Countdown store (I use 3 different stores depending on the location I'm in), I have to search online for pricing because so many products do not have a price label. Instead, it's often a label that says something along the lines of "this item currently out of stock", which is laughable because the product is literally in front of me.

Went to buy a wine to go with dinner, had the server ask for my Id (I'm 39 and look it) I smile and show it to her, she asked to see the back, thought this was odd, show her. Then asked for my 30 year old brothers Id as well. I explain I am buying the wine not my brother. Refuses to sell a 39 year old..WITH ID a bottle of WINE COUNTDOWN TAKAPUNA..I am a local and will not be doing my groceries with you again after being treated so ridiculously

I purchased a fresh quiche from the deli last night at Countdown Nelson to eat before a meeting and was horrified to find it was frozen inside! For $7.50 I was well and truly ripped off when the food is supposed to be freshly prepared and ready to eat. Countdown supermarkets have been struck off my shopping list!

Did online order arrived and meat missing and easter eggs missing for my children but been charged for this.Queried with store supervisor who told me to ring 0800 number to get my money refunded, would not give me goods from the store....sat on phone for 20 mins on hold what a waste of my long weekend....bad attitude from supervisor not even an apology.....
