Lovely staff but poor management
We visited on Sunday 15th for a double celebration, having booked in advance for Mother’s Day as we expected it to be busy. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from start to finish.
Despite having a reservation, we were asked to wait in the bar area for 15 minutes with no explanation or menus provided. Once seated, service was very slow throughout. Our server was friendly and clearly trying their best, but we waited 30 minutes for starters, and our drinks hadn’t arrived by then—we had to ask for them, and they only came after we’d finished eating.
The delays continued with a long wait for mains, and it became clear many other tables were experiencing the same issues. While the staff remained polite and hardworking, they appeared unsupported. Management was the main issue—complaints were not handled professionally, and the manager refused to speak directly with customers. We also witnessed staff being spoken to poorly in front of diners, which created an uncomfortable atmosphere.
There were clearly enough staff on the floor, but the lack of coordination and leadership resulted in long waits and frustrated customers. Overall, very disappointing and not the standard we expected for a special occasion.
Very very disappointing
Very very disappointing. Chicken fajitas. Id say 3/4s of a small chicken breast, looked very rubbish and luje warm. no sizzling plate, looked like it was stuck under grill. Ordered extra cheese, along with the standard chilli cheese dish etc, no extras but charged. My mate ordered chilli nachos as a main. Large plate full with no beef chilli, all chilli beans, ok if your vegetarian. Ordered bbq dip to go with sweet tatty wedges, never came. Requested extra wraps as I was starving, didnt arrive, had to ask again whole my 1 bit of chicken went cold. I am a size 8-10. No good if your a hearty eater. Service wasn't great, had to catch someone's eye. This was at lunchtime when it wasn't busy. So for chilli nachos, chicken fajitas, sweet tatty wedges, 2 overpriced peroni and 1 coke it was 56 quid. Pretty rubbish. Won't go back. Don't waste your money. Shame on you, cutting costs. Make your own or eat somewhere that isn't cutting costs at your expense!

Others were sat and orders taken. Had to remind the waitress we existed then the starter came and the drinks came after 15min later
Then the meal came almost 40min after starter. The beef was tough and my partners plate was cold.

Went to Chiquito for the first time tonight at the Ashton-Under-Lyne, Manchester restaurant.
Our server was Tim, the service was great and he was chatty and helpful (not the annoying level of chatty, just enough to show our server had a personality).
Both the food and the service were excellent and we don’t normally eat out at large chain restaurants as they’re not normally our cup of tea.
Will definitely be visiting again and will probably request a table with Tim as our server.
Customer service
We went to the Dudley chiquito for a family meal last night to celebrate a birthday. The service wasn’t great took 30 mins to take our drinks order and then another 20 minutes to order our food we never got asked if we wanted any more drinks all night. When I spoke to what I presumed was a manger (she had red hair ) her attitude was not what I would expect from someone who works in customer service her response was was our fault as she was sorting out the heating not even an apology for keeping waiting. The young male who served us was lovely and I can’t complain about him. The food was ok but some had ordered fajitas and instead sending wraps out first kept us waiting and the sizzler had gone cold before they received wraps. Though some food was good the customer service let it down your staff need some customer service training.
Really great experience at Eldon Square, Newcastle
Visited Chiquito at Eldon Square yesterday lunchtime with my nephew and his girlfriend where we were looked after incredibly well. The young lady who was our server was fantastic - professional, friendly, knowledgeable about the menu and with a great sense of humour. Honestly this level of service is so unusual these days it deserves to be recognised and celebrated. So to Chiquito and in particular our great server a big Thank You! The food was pretty good too! (ps hope ‘server’ is the correct terminology these days!)

Went to the metrocentre for my sons birthday. Lovely food and excellent service by Eric was a fab experience best part of our day. Highly recommend it. The ribs were the best ive ever had!

Come away disappointed
We are disappointed to come away from the restaurant in Cheshire oaks without receiving the kids eat free meals. We solely booked here as we wanted to save a few pounds on our meal as everyone does in the summer holidays!
But on receiving our bill the server brought the card machine with it so I didn’t have time to double check the receipt. We paid and then I checked over the bill. It did not take off the kids meals.
I then asked her why their meals hadn't come off. She responded with not everyone gets that deal, and I did not say I wanted the free meals.
I showed her the website that says everyone does get it when they purchase an adult meal. Which we purchased two of so should have gotten two free kids meals.
I asked if she could refund the kids meals for us. She point blank said no, it had all gone through now so she can’t do anything.
Although the food was lovely, the tables were also very sticky and dirty when we wiped with wet wipes, and service quite slow. Would not recommend here!
Hoping someone can help us to get our refund on our kids meals.

Cracked plate,tortillas stuck to the paper,churros cooked in stale oil and unedible,when matter brought to the attention of the waitress,all we got was the reply ‘yeah sure!’ Will never visit again,no wonder they are closing branches if this is anything to go by!!

Not sure if he reported back to his manager who was standing ten feet from our table when we complained .
If he did she certainly never approached us about our complaint or instructed anything to be done.

Everything about Newcastle metro centre branch was spot on specially friendly staff kacie our server never stopped putting up with 8 of us anything we asked was no problem food was out of this world both meat lovers and vegetarian food we will come back regularly now

Don’t spend your money on cocktails
Visited Chiquitos Cheshire Oaks. I would advise that people don’t buy cocktails from them. We ordered pornstar martinis and they were awful. My description would be winky. Which means it was overly sweet. I returned them and asked for flaming zombies instead. I was appalled to discover they had simply tipped the martinis into new glasses and added ice. This was definitely not a flaming zombie. My daughter in law managed to drink them both. Although she wasn’t keen. There was no point complaining as it was the manager that made them and banged them on the table in front of us. I doubt we’ll be going back there anytime soon.

I went to the dudley site. Service was mediocre at best. Food was substandard. And when offered sauce, OFFERED, we noticed later we were billed for it. What on earth is all that about ? I often believe that even if food is not the best, service will keep you returning. However the service was so bad I'd not even try it again.

We had a table booked. Arrived told over an hour wait. We had cinema booked. This is unacceptable.
Don’t expect offers to be honoured!
Watch out on any offers. We ordered on the BYO 2 for 1 offer. Apparently it is only valid if you mention it before you order and again when you ask for the bill. Our server didn’t tell us this when we mentioned it as we ordered, so we didn’t raise it a second time and didn’t get the discount. When I complained I was told it was in the terms and conditions.
