I purchased a wooden bench from the Mugdock Branch. It was 30% off, which I thought was a great offer at the time. I believe this was because it was the display model being sold at the end of the Summer. I inspected the bench at the time and although there was a crack to the wood in the arm of the chair I was prepared to accept that for the discount.
When the bench was delivered I noticed that where the sign had been placed on the bench there was a chunk of wood missing from the bench. My wife took a photo of the bench when we bought it and the location of the sign matches up with the damage to the bench. I am unsure as to whether the damage to the bench was intentionally concealed with the sale sign or whether this happened in transit, but I feel that if this was intentional then it was disingenuous to do so. The way that the staff of the shop turned it around to face the wall after we bought it doesn't give me confidence that it wasn't intentional. I have been assured this is normal practice.
I also checked the nuts on the bench and they were all finger tight. I feel that this could have been dangerous had I not checked this. This being the display model I understand that many people will have sat on it, but I would have hoped this would have been checked considering it was delivered already assembled.
We bought this bench to complement the garden swing we already have that matches the bench and I can't help but feel we got less of a bargain than we thought we were getting. If you are buying discounted stock from Caulders just make sure you have a look under the sign.
I have emailed this issue to their Head Office and received a generic apology email that explains away all of my concerns and the offer of a refund. This was the last bench they had, we quite like it and I might be able to fix it with a bit of filler but I doubt I will purchase from them again.

Caulders Gartocharn/Alexandria. Booked afternoon tea, extremely disappointed. Showed to seat and waited and waited for someone to take sandwich order for afternoon tea. Food brought then had to wait 15 mins for tea, when we said politely to second waitress we were still waiting on tea, were told ‘we’re busy’. Cakes looked like store bought cut in half, with exception of mini scone. Waited again for drinks refill and when asked manager we were told ‘there’s about 20 chits up there’. The whole time they were letting more and more people into restaurant when they could not serve customers already there. Clearly more interested in money than service.

Disappointed in gluten free Mother’s Day afternoon tea. This was booked for 3pm but not served until 3.30pm. It appeared they had not prepared the order, when it eventually came it was sadly lacking in any effort. Packet biscuits and tasteless cheese sandwiches with no butter, so the cheese fell out when you lifted them off the plate, also sandwiches filled with what I think was chick pea curry…very weird. No egg, salad, cheese and onion or tomato sandwiches, no variety…just cheese and chickpea curry. Very unappetising to look at and tasteless. The scone was so dense, I had real difficulty cutting through it, it was inedible. I’m not sure if it was stale but it appeared to be processed and not fresh or home made. The only decent thing was the small cream meringue. The whole experience was very disappointing as I was also with my disabled elderly mum and sister and it took the shine off what should have been a special day together. I have gave two stars because the normal afternoon teas had a nice selection of sandwiches, cakes and scones, they also got a hot plate with a sausage roll, quiche etc but I was told there was nothing on offer for the hot plate (gluten free). I was pleased my mum and sister enjoyed theirs but I think Hetland Hall garden centre restaurant need to rethink or revamp their gluten free offerings for afternoon teas or just not do them.

Went to Hetland Garden Centre today for Christmas Lunch.
The meal was superb, couldn’t fault any of the food at all, all 4 of us were happy with our meals.
I would recommend here for a meal.

Love caulders garden centers but there room for improvement. I wish they were bigger and that their website didn’t completely suck

Went with my wife to have lunch in their fairly new shop just outside Linlithgow. They have just opened an extension to their restaurant. Unfortunately as we had our dogs with us we had to sit at their outside seating area which we were happy with. We were given our menus but after 15 minutes we were still waiting on someone taking our order. Very slow and poor customer service. Went for lunch in nearby Mannersons where we were served straight away.

Well besides my better judgment we went here for breakfast…. And my word this was excellent, good coffee good cooked breakfast my wife had pancakes and said those were delicious too…

I would recommend the restaurant it was busy when we were there but the service was still good the extra people working made the difference.

Go to the calders in Linlithgow and give it a try worth the risk…

Oh you see me now! Arrived to a state of devastation. Ancient fridge had just spewed its guts on the floor.
Brains in charge, instead of using a mop and bucket, attempts to clean up the flood with half the Amazon in paper towels. I watch this performance of high heels and paper towels attempt at mopping up the carnage with interest. I'm told my order will be ten then twenty minutes—they have to serve the big spenders first—the index-linked table of four stuffing half a tonne of dead animal down their well-fed thrattles. So I sit, tongue hanging out, waiting, ignored for forty minutes as I watch high heels and paper towels doing the job—obviously doesn't want to get hands dirty with handling a mop and bucket ... Can't take any more leave quietly and without fuss... Yi never know when Mr Online Reviewer will pop in... Then yi make the sad sad mistake of trying to defend yourself with the done to death 'oh no one has complained before'... If you had only taken it on the chin... You invited me back I have been ... I was the guy in the sleeping bag hugging the teady bear... did u see me?

Had lunch for 5 people today the macaroni was a bit dry and price of a small bowl of about 16 chips at £4.45 how can it justified eat here all the time will avoid the macaroni and the chips in the future and fish and chips fish was greasy not up to the usual standard
