My son and I attended Boots hearing…

My son and I attended Boots hearing care, Taunton for moulds to be made for ear protection. We had been given two separate appointments several hours apart, and the lovely audiologist Tim- managed to fit us in together. We were so grateful to Tim for doing this, but also Tim was an absolute BRILLIANT audiologist. He skillfully managed to clear my son’ ear of wax and did the moulds with great communication and expertise. Tim is, without a doubt, a kind and compassionate person who clearly cares about his patients. It shows in his work. He was meticulous, calm, very friendly and very personable. Tim took the time to explain scarring on my ear drum and other hearing issues I have. This is the first time any hearing specialist has explained these medical issues to me. We would highly recommend Tim as an audiologist. He went the extra mile for us today. And we are deeply grateful. Thank you so much Tim!

We would like to thank the lovely lady who met us on reception at the eye/ear desk at 9am. She was so kind and lovely and we didn’t manage to take her name. She had short brown hair and a lovely smile. She really made our day too. Thank you both 🙏, Steph and James

Poor vaccination service

I went in for my travel vaccinations in the pharmacy at Taunton Boots and was told they had run out of vaccinations that morning. The nurse who was set to do my vaccination had a fresh McDonalds bag in the bin and explained to me that she had just had her lunch in there. A room that is supposed to be clean for medical practices should not be used to have lunch, especially not greasy food such as McDonalds.I still trusted them after my family members had booked an appointment to be told on the day there was no appointment for them listed. I went in and explained I had the paper work for this vaccination and it was said when booking the appointment it was for the vaccination. They then tried to book me in on weekdays after I had already explained I work full time and can not travel from Devon to Somerset before or after my working hours. I believe they need to review their system and really think about how they can improve their service. This is really not good enough when people are trying to stay safe when travelling.

Thorough hearing assessment, friendly audiologist

I had a thorough hearing assessment at your Taunton store, which was much more in-depth than I had expected. The audiologist was very pleasant and welcoming with a nice sense of humour. He explained everything very clearly and was very helpful in helping me understand the problems I was facing.

Disgraceful aftercare service

Disgraceful after care service - had to wait 2 weeks to simply hand in a faulty hearing aid to be sent back for repair!

Everything was done very professionally…

Everything was done very professionally and informatively so that I had a good understanding of my hearing loss and the choice of hearing aids available to me. This enabled me to choose appropriately. The costs were explained clearly and I left with renewed confidence.

Uncomfortable 10 minutes.…

The man who was to conduct my hearing assessment was very aggressive from the start, he was talking down to my wife and my self and very condescending.He gave the impression all he wanted to do was sell hearing aids not complete a free hearing assessment plus he felt we couldn't afford to pay for the hearing aids.
He made my wife and my self feel very uncomfortable and for this reason I terminated the grilling and bullying after approximately 10 minutes.
A summary of the points are;
1/ He kept saying he couldn't understand how I had managed to book a 75 minute appointment.
2/ He repeated a number of times that Boots weren't NHS, the hearing aids have to be paid for.
3/ He kept asking what I wanted from the assessment even though I told him repeatably.

Not enough audiologists.

I rang today for an appointment for my husband.
He is having problems with feed back in his hearing aids. I spoke to a very nice lady but the first appointment, that was available was for the 13th November.
When we get to the appointment the audiogists are very good. The hearing aids are expensive and the aftercare should be better. If you are deaf and you have a problem with the hearing aids a month is too long to wait.

The hearing test was free (not much is…

The hearing test was free (not much is these days), the audiologist was very polite and professional.

The 2nd test free, great advice and I got to try out a hearing aid so I could understand the difference.

Really good experience overall

Shame I had to leave Boots hearingcare.

After using the excellent service at Boots Hearingcare Taunton for the last 8 years or so I have changed audiogist purely due to the high prices for hearing aids now charged by Boots. I was about to upgrade to the new Phonak Infinio sphere 9 until I discovered the same aids with the same support £1000 less !
