Amazing First Experience….
After a few months of obsessing over them, I purchased my first Bonsai from Bonsai Direct and it just arrived this evening. Could not be happier, I ordered Saturday delivery and was worried I wouldn’t get it on time with the recent storm hitting the UK but it came fine and in exceptional packaging to keep it safe. The tree and service exceeded all expectations.
Would not go anywhere else now as Bonsai Direct has set the bar very high.

Christmas Gift for my son
Ordered a 12 year old tree of a thousand stars for my son's christmas gift. Package arrived and it was really well wrapped. No damage, no soil loss and in excellent condition. I have no doubt it will transport back to his own home 200miles away despite having been taken out and admired, without, I suspect any damage. My son loves it and hopes to be able to look after it to a good age. Care instructions are also excellent and easily followed and they now have "bonsai care" on their website menu I have no doubt will prove extremely helpful to my son. Thank you Bonsai Diect for an excellent service. ❤️

I ordered on the 22nd of Dec and was assured it would arrive on the 24th. I received several updated from both Bonsai Direct and DPD ahead of delivery.
It arrived on time and the packaging and delivery process was flawless.
Surprisingly….the quality of the tree was exceptional. Overall… I’m blown away by this business. My expectations were low as I left it until the last minute but I was very happy and impressed with this business. Thank you.

My wife bought me a beautiful bonsai- but beware
My wife bought me a stunning 19 year old bonsai for £675.00 to celebrate my being clear of pancreatic cancer for 12 months. We received the stunning tree, soaked the plant as instructed, the leaves started to drop as they said they would, then they turned brown, we reached out for help as no new buds were appearing and whilst the staff at the company were excellent sadly they concluded that she was in fact dead. A very sad experience , the company have offered us a 20% discount if we buy another one , but we don’t want to purchase again from them in case the next one is also dead or dying - so it’s sadly caveat emptor and for us a very expensive mistake.

Unfortunately by the time you had contacted us, your bonsai had already died, if we had been contacted sooner then it is more likely that we could've helped your bonsai.
As explained by our experts, from the photos you have provided and the information given, it sounds like your bonsai dried out. You had said that your bonsai was also exposed to direct sunlight.
We can assure you that our bonsai are thoroughly checked before shipping and the same expert who gave their advice via email was the person who checked it before sending it so they were shocked to see that it had died.
We are really sorry that you have lost your beautiful bonsai.

My mum had a cheap £7 bonsai bought in…
My mum had a cheap £7 bonsai bought in a sale that she cared for for over a decade. The tree died and I thought to replace it with a much better quality tree. I spent over £60 on a tree for next to nothing. It arrived already shedding leaves, mum carefully read the leaflet and continued to care for it. Within a few weeks it was obvious it was dead, if it was even alive in the first place. The website says it doesn't guarantee plants after 7 days!! I tried contacting the company four times via their website contact form. They answered once asking for pics which I supplied and I've not heard from them since. My money could have bought a beautiful bouquet that would've outlasted the tree by weeks. The tree was meant for her to love and nurture as she did the prior one. I do not recommend these products or their customer service.

Extremely pleased. Great Bday Gift
Extremely pleased with the product (I bought a birthday gift set - Bonzai tree, tools, feed, birthday balloon - for my girlfriend) and it was delivered next day even though delivery was free, which is handy when you've left it last minute!
She's had indoor plants bought for her before but I can't wait to show her this. I was originally going to buy her a grow your own bonzai kit for £20 from amazon and I'm so glad I didn't, for an extra £30 I've saved myself 8 years of growing and pruning, plus all the extras and expertise that went into it, so pretty good value to say the least. The tree itself is amazing, it has a great shape and colour which looks really healthy - I have to keep sneaking peeks at it, and one thing I didn't think about was how good the pot it comes in is - really lovely and authentic. The packaging was excellent absolutely no way anything could get damaged - the box was sturdy and plenty of air packaging etc. Helpful guide included for maintaining the plant and of course they offer advice through their contact page on their website.
I couldn't recommend these guys enough you can tell that they care about what they do and every package they send is thoughtfully put together, so this review is my way of saying thanks! I might have to buy a couple of trees for myself after her birthday because I love them.

Very impressed
I was sceptical at first about ordering a bonsai tree online without being to inspect it first but what I must say is what an excellent service I received from Bonsai Direct.
The tree was exactly as pictured and the packaging was fantastic! The tree didn’t move one bit and remained moist in the box.
I’ve been so pleased that I’ve ordered another bonsai (this time outdoors bonsai) from BonsaiDirect today.

I have just purchased my first bonsai tree and I am not disappointed. It is stunningly beautiful. I congratulate this company for their expertise and care. I have ordered from Bonsai Direct in the past. I have a Jade Bonsai which I purchased from them in 2019. For some time I have been toying with the idea of purchasing a Serissa Bonsai, and finally gave in and ordered one this week.
The order was placed on Tuesday and arrived today (Friday). Bonsai Direct use DPD for deliveries; DPD are a great company as deliveries are always within the specified window.
When my Serissa Bonsai arrived this morning it was well packaged and very well hydrated considering that it had been in transit. Bonsai Direct pack their trees with great care; they are watered prior to despatch, the pot and soil wrapped in bubble wrap to keep the soil most, then the whole tree is lovingly boxed with plenty of protection to keep it steady in transit.
Bonsai Direct provide a great after sales service. They are always on hand to answer any queries which you may have. Nothing is too much trouble. They are passionate about what they do and the trees which they sell.
I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Rude staff and two tiny bags of soil
I couldn’t believe when the pot arrived that I only had a tiny amount of soil provided with it. When I rang up to ask for more to be sent as it was not nearly enough and I had just spent £60 on the pot I couldn’t believe how rude the female staff member was. She just kept saying it’s free and it’s enough and when I said it isn’t enough she would argue if I’m going to be a tiny tree in a big pot. I said to her multiple times it wasn’t a small tree it’s a large tree but the whole point in repotting is to put fresh soil in not to use old soil you’ve had for years in it. This is expected by the company. I was told off for talking over her when she repeadly would talk over me. I’ve now had to spend another £10 on soil. The email address I was given to send photos to was invalid and the contact us page at the time of writing this is blank. Rude staff and I’ve felt ripped off as I only went with that company as the soil is was supplied. Comments like “it’s only common sense if you’re going to put a small bonsai in a big pot you’ll need more soil” is just rude as I had explained multiple times at that point it’s a large bonsai.
Expect to buy more soil and have rude staff if you have an issues.
Further to below comments proves that I wasn’t listened to from the start as I was talked over. I didn’t remove the soil from the bonsai tree it’s completely intact. Photo will be supplied in extra feedback as proof you can see it’s completely in tact and in shape of the original bonsai and the pot isn’t much bigger than the original one so no I didn’t remove the soil as you claimed I had said to you. Refunded £10 which is the cost of the soil and delivery not a day of someone being arguementive over an issue which is not the customers fault.

As explained over the phone, the amount of free soil you have received is the amount we have always sent with this size pot which is more than sufficient when repotting a bonsai that would fit appropriately in the pot. You were arguing that we had not sent you "everything needed to repot a bonsai" as marketed which is in fact exactly what we sent you but you did not feel you had enough soil. You informed me that you had removed all of the original soil before repotting which will cause your bonsai roots to rot, this is a large reason why most people do not remove all of the original soil.
When you called, you never actually asked if we would send you anymore soil. You told us there wasn't enough and proceeded to undermine our expertise and talk over me so I could not explain.
I simply tried to explain that unless you were repotting a tiny tree into this pot, there should be more than enough soil. You told me about various scenarios I should remarket the product for to which I responded that it was "common sense" that repotting a small tree into such a large pot would require more soil and that I couldn't remarket for these scenarios as it would be never ending. Up until this point, you had not even mentioned how big your own bonsai was only that it was appropriate to repot it into this sized pot. I was not questioning your intelligence, or the size of your tree, I was trying to explain that you should have had enough soil unless the bonsai was very small.
I am unsure why you cannot use the form on our contact us page or email us directly, it has been working for everyone else and when I emailed you directly after establishing your email address you were able to respond.
I can only apologise if you feel I was being rude, I was struggling to get any information across to you as I either could not talk or my expertise was questioned.
We have refunded you £10 to cover your cost of purchasing extra soil, we have taken your feedback into consideration but we do not want our customers to be unhappy.
Fantastic bonsai trees
Trees arrived in fantastic condition & packaged really well. Delivery was very speedy & exactly as requested during checkout. The aftercare booklet which came with the trees is really informative & will be a great help when looking after them. Really pleased I've found the website, will definately be ordering more as get more experienced.
