5 star experience from start to finish. Salesman was extremely helpful and knowledgeable which gave us confidence we had ordered the correct bed. We were kept well informed about the delivery and the delivery men were friendly, efficient and helpful.

All as expected. Friendly service, nice product.

The store manager was very helpful and patient.

Visited the store to research buying a new bed and mattress. The choices are endless when making such a purchase but Daron was very knowledgeable and helpful which made my final choice very easy.

Bought a pillow top mattress, but i felt it too hot for my liking. Asked for a mattress exchange in Bensons, and my request was granted. I only have to pay for the transport. Excelent customer service by Bensons

Impressed by the posh Guildford store & helpful salesperson I bought x2 refurbished new mattresses for my budget, reassuring me that they were strictly tested and as new!

After a wait x2 mattresses where delivered (delivery men where great) but they left packaging on! One mattress was massively dented 10 cm dip, clearly slept in for months by someone very heavy, calling the store the staff were now unhelpful and didn’t give a damn,I was told if I want a refund I will need to take them to the small claims court.

I requested to speak to the manager! Turns out he’s arrogant, aggressive, tried to palm me off that the mattress was damaged by delivery staff, or made like that,, which was a joke as I ordered 2 and had a direct comparison, he was argumentative and ignorant of my rights! He showed no empathy and had no intention of helping me, nasty man,very rude,I was told store staff are there to sell, they are on commission and it wasn’t his problem, it was only when I threatened to deliver his damaged sub stand miss sold mattress back to his shop the complaint was escalated to the complaints department who where helpful! This company is very dis-jointed the shops clearly don’t speak to the office staff! Senior managers are not aware of how staff are behaving!! Store Manager and sales staff are clearly not trained! They tell lies, trying to force you to keep a sub-standard item..
DO NOT BUY FROM THEIR GUILDFORD STORE!! Really nasty, selfish and unhelpful staff who are just interested in the money not client satisfaction!!😡😡😡😡😡😡

We were recommended a Simba mattress, looked online and found our local Bensons for Beds in Guildford sold them. Went in New Year's Day to be told no, they don't stock them and don't sell them, and word to the effect of we did stock them, but so many returns and issues five years ago, Bensons had to stop selling. We then had a painful tour of the shop with various other mattresses.

Having been to all the local mattress shops, and this being by far the worst, we then popped into your Croydon (Purley Way) store. The invaluable staff guided us to the Simba mattress area, and we selected our Simba mattress. What a difference a store makes....

Had a great experience online buying a bed and was great promotion and payment options! Took my son next day to a store and he also bought a bed with TV! Sales person Keifer was amazing as well! Both Online was good but the store was amazing as well could see the bed and be happy with the purchase! Customer Service from the sales person was great.

Update (2 January 2026):
Bensons for Beds replied publicly to this review, stating that they had contacted me to discuss this matter. This has not happened. I have received no email, phone call, or follow up since they posted their reply.

This has been one of the most alarming retail experiences I’ve had.

We visited the Guildford branch to view mattresses, where Richard (then the store manager) issued a quote and promised a specific delivery date. That delivery commitment later turned out to be incorrect and was withdrawn after the sale progressed.

When we raised this, we were dealt with by Charlie, who had since taken over as store manager. During a phone call, Charlie told me that we had been missold by Richard and that Richard had since moved to another branch. Charlie then advised that we should “take it up with Richard” at his new location - despite the quote having been issued by the Guildford store and the sale being handled by them.

What I found particularly concerning was that Charlie stated to me that this was not an isolated issue. Hearing a store manager characterise matters this way fundamentally undermined my confidence in how this business is run.

Things deteriorated further when we exercised our statutory right to cancel. Despite the sale being concluded later via email, with payment made online, the store repeatedly attempted to reclassify the transaction as an “in store sale” purely because we had viewed the mattress in person. This position was maintained even after being shown Bensons’ own documentation confirming that no in store order existed.

The overall experience left me with the clear impression of:
• Sales commitments being made and then disowned
• Managers shifting responsibility between branches
• Basic consumer law being misstated
• A complete lack of accountability or escalation

This does not feel like a one off error. It feels like a systemic failure of training, compliance, and management oversight.

If you are considering Bensons for Beds, my advice would be - do not rely on verbal assurances, get everything in writing, and be prepared to dedicate time to enforcing your legal rights if something goes wrong.

I would not return, and I would strongly caution others before purchasing here.

Good customer service at store. No problems with delivery. Whole thing went very smoothly .

Charlie and Richard were both very knowledgable, patient and kind. I went in on Wednesday to browse but was presented with both affordable mattresses and less affordable that became affordable through the refurbished scheme. I wasn’t expecting to purchase before Christmas but having had a bad nights sleep that evening, I woke up Thursday and headed straight back to buy a refurbished mattress from the higher price point ones. This scheme is a game changer for those on a smaller budget.
Again, Charlie and Richard were amazing, very knowledgable and did not pressure me into anything just did help me find and purchase what I wanted. Would highly recommend and will be back in the new year to purchase a new divan base and headboard.

We had very good customer service. There was no pressure to make a commitment although we were told about special offers ( which we took up). We were directed to beds that would meet our needs and left to try them out. Everything was clearly explained in a pleasant manner.

Fantastic customer service. Love the way we can try before we buy!
