I tried to cancel my gym membership 2 weeks ago (it is £31.99) they have now taken that PLUS another 30. I’ve just tried to cancel 30 days prior to the next monthly payment and they’ve said another payment will come out and then it’ll be terminated. Don’t use

Dear Adam, we value all feedback whether it is good or not so good as long as it is fair. However, we’d like to clarify the circumstances based on the membership records and the terms of the agreement. When you joined your chosen gym, you agreed to their 30 day notice period for cancellations. Our records show that we did not receive a cancellation request from you two weeks ago. Your payment was due on 17/09/2026, and your bank advised us that you had cancelled your Direct Debit on 15/09/2026. Subsequently, the Direct Debit due on 17/09/2026 was returned unpaid.
We contacted you regarding the cancelled Direct Debit and returned payment but did not receive a response. The missed payment has since been paid, and your membership has now been cancelled with no further payments required. We hope that we have explained how the membership that you chose works and that in light of the above you will reconsider your unfair review. Best wishes, Ashbourne
