It didn't find the ancestors I was looking for.

When it did find an ancestor whose details I already knew, I selected it and was asked to upgrade! They seem so insistent on demanding money from users.

I used this site about 10 years ago and it was much better. It seems so clunky now. Waste of time

Shocking! Unable to speak to anyone because the phone numbers are all incorrect. Requested a dna kit and waited over 8 weeks to be told that, "there wasn't any dna" in the sample that we sent. How can this be??? Waiting for replacement kit that is yet to be received, almost 4 weeks on and still not received.
THE worst company that I have dealt with is my entire life!

I have written several negative reviews about Ancestry and find it amazing that they haven't defended themselves, or maybe there is no defense.
I sent a DNA sample 4 months ago and I've paid for a membership, and the only hints I've received is who my mother and Grandmother is.
I grew up with these ladies so didnt need their hints.
Its just a rip off

Please stop asking.

I am extremely disappointed. I was expecting a paper copy, not digital. I am 86 years old. I cannot access the results.

Interesting result. Most as expected. I know one of my ancestors (great great grandfather) came from Hanover in Germany but no German in my DNA. Can't figure it out. Must investigate further.

Clumsy procedure and difficult to use. Bought basic level UK/Ireland membership and was not researching beyond that but was constantly being blocked and told to upgrade.

I have many profiles of my family, some I did not know

Horrific software, horrific experience, timewaste and stress. I have all my settings to public but nothing. Create Wordpress or Flikr instead.

It told things I did not no

Zero stars if I could. Avoid.

I subscribed to Ancestry and bought a DNA kit which they managed to lose. They sent a replacement, but even registering it was a struggle because their app kept failing to recognise it. After multiple attempts, I finally got it registered and sent my sample back.

Since then, nothing. No updates, no results, no visibility on the app. They’ve simply failed to deliver the service I paid for.

Before even calling them, I tried to resolve this through their AI tool, Leaf, which was completely useless and didn’t solve anything.

When I finally rang customer service, it was just as bad. The background noise was awful, people talking over each other, and it was difficult to even have a conversation. I was told my complaint would be “written down” which is not good enough. I asked to speak to a complaints manager, was put on hold, then told the supervisor was busy. I insisted again, was left waiting, and eventually gave up.

I've spent the last hour trying to find some way to get in touch with them, emails bounce, their AI bot just says to fill in a feedback form.

This is a complete lack of basic customer service and accountability.

I’ve cancelled my subscription and requested a full refund in every way I can. I have absolutely no confidence in Ancestry to handle something as sensitive as DNA properly or securely.

Avoid.

Probably the best genealogical tool there is.
What more can I say.
