Chris is an amazing guide, we had the best time during our 24 hour genuine 3 peak challenge. Thank you Saj, Chris and rest for the amazing experience, not one to be forgotten.

What an experience ! Great leadership by Chris from start to finish. He provided training plans and equipment needed well in advanced, explained each hike thoroughly the day before and throughout the 24 hours, and was incredibly supportive and motivating right up to the end ! If you want to complete the uk 3 peaks in a genuine 24 hours - look nowhere else! Chris has this down to a fine art! His professionalism and expertise are clear to be seen and heard from the start! This was my second attempt at the three peak challenge 24hr and this time Chris was my guide.

His knowledge and expertise seen myself and the remaining group complete the challenge. Do not delay and book with Chris. My time was 23hr and 3mins.

I first used Active Mountaineering in 2023 for the 3 peaks challenge, which was absolutely fantastic and would highly recommend, putting our completion under the 24 hours mark down to the skills, organisation and knowledge, Chris and his team where able to give.

After the success of the 3 peaks challenge, we decided to use Active Mountaineering again to undertake Kilimanjaro in February 2025. This again was an amazing and successful trip.

Chris was able to offer his guidance, skills and knowledge to again ensure everyone summited the mountain and complete the challenge, but also making it a highly enjoyable experience along the way and one to remember!

Over the months prior to our departure, Chris gave us all the vital information we would need as well as tips and what to expect on the mountain.

The trip itself was very well organised and faultless, from transport to hotels to activities and most importantly the team and camps on the mountain. Chris was able to get all the minor details right which others likely wouldn’t think off and this made a big difference to myself and the teams experience. The knowledge and advice which was given throughout the challenge ensured all 7 of the team made it to the summit in difficult conditions.

We are now thinking about our 3rd challenge with Chris and Active Mountaineering, which I think says a lot about him and the company.

Chris (Active Mountaineering) promised a trip of a lifetime to Kilimanjaro. Did he deliver? Yes, he absolutely did!! This was a WOW trip, where your feet don't touch the ground, whether it's the 6 day Kili climb itself, the safari, the day-trips and/or the immersion into the bright colours and bustle of Tanzanian life. With Chris, we achieved the summit of Africa's highest mountain and had a stunning safari afterwards; all resulting in a lifetime of great memories.

Chris likes a laugh and a joke, but make no mistake, he is dedicated to ensuring everyone on his adventures achieves their maximum potential and has the best possible time every minute of every day. 100% of our group achieved the summit of Kilimanjaro (Uhuru Peak), due in large part to Chris and his team being there to support and guide the group from day one to six. Chris carefully monitors each person in the group, ensuring they are eating and drinking fuelling to the maximum; he fills in a chart for each person three times a day recording their food and drink intake, their oxygen/bloodstream level and appearance (in case of altitude sickness). It is this attention to detail that ensured our group reached the summit and where other climbers potentially fail (only around 60% of attempts reach the summit).

After the Kili climb, Chris led a two-day safari, which finished in the Ngorongoro Crater, one of the most spectacular environments in the world; wildlife was abundant and we were able to view elephants, lions, hippos, zebras, wildebeest, etc, etc.
All in all, it was a fantastic trip, we came home buzzing, with a load of photos to sort & edit.

We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Chris & Active Mountaineering - hardworking, trustworthy and reliable; if you're thinking of climbing Kili, this is the person you need.

Returned from bucket list adventure to Kilimanjaro-fantastic memorable experience, Chris lead our team from day 1 right up until the final step of our journey to the airport.
As a family of 3 - 1 only being 16 Chris proved attentive, caring, fun, enthusiastic & knowledgeable of all mountain aspects.
His attention to detail was a constant presence through our days on the mountain. We thoroughly enjoyed this wonderful adventure & would recommend this company & Chris to anyone considering taking on any challenge that they offer.

The planning and preparation undertaken by Chris is clear to see from the moment you step off the plane. Drivers waiting for us at the airport couldn’t have been more helpful, very polite and friendly. Remember this is a developing country so if you’re expecting reclining seats, top quality air con and on-board toilets then this probably isn’t for you! The hotel pre and post kili was good. Nice little pool, very clean and nice food, nothing spectacular but if you’re not paying 5⭐️ money don’t expect 5⭐️ accommodation (we didn’t go on to visit Zanzibar but the hotels I’m told were amazing).

What is 5⭐️ is Chris’s approach to leadership and his experience in the mountain environment, he tailored his approach to each individual’s specific needs regarding motivation, assistance and guidance. What really stood out was his unwavering positivity and encouragement. When the climb became tough, especially during the final ascent, his motivational words and calm presence gave us the energy to push forward. As for safety, he was meticulous. He constantly monitored our well-being, checked on our hydration and oxygen levels, and adjusted our pace when needed to ensure everyone acclimated properly. It was evident that he genuinely cared about each of us reaching the summit safely, and he knew exactly how to handle the challenges that come with the high altitude.

His stats speak for themselves which resulted in 100% of our group of 10 (ages 16-59) making the summit.

Thanks to Chris and the amazing support team of guides and porters this journey was not only successful but also incredibly enriching and memorable. I highly recommend him to anyone considering Kilimanjaro—he’s not just a guide but a true guardian of the mountain and an inspiration to all climbers. Gaz

Wow what a great weekend this was from being picked up in a luxurious mini-bus in Liverpool doing the challenge and saying farewell on the Sunday, Chris and his team were absolutely great and on-point throughout and I’m glad I chose this company to do my challenge! We went from Liverpool on the Fri and joined another larger group on route initial thoughts were that there’s a lot of us, but this was because I didn’t know how many were guides, everything was timed from the breaks to the time on each mountain which it needed to be in order to get the job done! Chris made sure you knew how it’s going to go beforehand in case you were wondering and if you want someone to pussy foot around with you at the bottom choose an alternative company. I was most apprehensive about Scafell Pike because it’s done at night and knew it would throw up different challenges to the others which I’d done previously but that was actually the easiest for me Chris’s techniques I have only otherwise seen used in military for keeping the group together and they work. The determination I saw from myself and others to succeed in this was immense I would definitely say it’s one of the toughest challenges Iv done to date! and the support from the guides to others who needed it the most was also excellent, there was also a change of guides for each peak which was really good and they were well informed in what they were doing. I would also like to shout out the bus driver for his skills round Wasdale driving professionally myself it looked challenging so big pay on the back for that. I’ve gone from thinking this challenge is Ludacris to now wanting to do it every year and will be going with Active Mountaineering!

Currently recovering from the 24 hour 3 peak challenge. The challenge itself is the toughest thing I've ever done, but so rewarding when you reach that finish line at the bottom of Snowdon.

We finished the challenge with 20 minutes spare which felt amazing and we wouldn't have ever done this without Chris and his team. Chris knows these mountains like the back of his hand, and his mild military style approach, really got the best out of the group pushing us every bit of the way.

If your wanting to do the 3 peaks properly, I highly recommend Chris and his team.

One of the hardest 24 hours I have experienced, but with Chris and his team of guides one of the most enjoyable and rewarding.

Chris a man like no other will push you all the way through pain and laughter to get you up and down three though mountains in 24 hours.

Don’t expect an easy ride , but enjoy an amazing challenge and people along with it , couldn’t thank Chris enough for his knowledge or tough love. And what ever happens he will give his all to help you.

We took a team of 19 and had the best time! Chris did exactly what he had to do to get us round the three peaks in under 24 hours!! Professional and funny too! I would definitely recommend and am already thinking of booking another challenge with him! Top man!!

Amazing trip and extremely well managed and coordinated start to finish. Chris is an expert in the field and made the trip fun but also appreciate the significant challenge of it. Brilliant experience, would recommend to anyone except those who like ‘faff’, as one thing you will quickly learn about our Chris, is that guy does not like faff. Other than that, couldn’t recommend enough.

I booked this by myself, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. As soon as I got on the mini but to travel to Scotland,I knew I was going to have a good experience. Chris is so professional, he had everything organised from start to finish and his knowledge about the mountains and terrain are second to non. I knew I was in good hands. Absolutely brilliant.

Absolutely the best. Simultaneously the hardest and best weekend of my life. When Chris promises you to get you from car park to car park in 24 hrs, he does everything possible to make it happen. Chris is an amazing guy & did everything he could to get us over the line within 24 hours. Everything was planned down to the minute, with our last guy crossing the line at exactly 24hr with 30s to spare. Even taking over one of our minibus drivers so we didn’t lose time after Scafell. Without his tough love I know for sure I absolutely would not have made it. If you want the best chance possible to actually complete it within 24hrs chris is your guy, could not recommend active mountaineering enough! 10/10 weekend.

Chris and the team are literally amazing and pushed our team to the very end to ensure we finished the 3 peak challenge on time, and we did 💪🏻 Was gruelling but lots of laughs - Thank you ☺️

Excellent tour guide, really well organised, fun, yet felt the challenge! Chris made sure as many of us as possible could complete the challenge in 24hrs, which was difficult. He pushed us to our limits, but that's exactly the sort of leader you want to get the job done.

I could not recommend Chris and his team enough. His support and encouragement gave us as a team a weekend to remember.
