ABTA Travel was recommended by Money saving expert as a company who pays out on genuine claims.
I've paid for cheap home insurance before for example and it's true, buy cheap buy twice.

Difficult contacting the main insurance following an accident.

Web site was easy to use and the policy appears comprehensive but hopefully it won't be put in practice

I made a mistake (auto fill!). Called the helpline. Lady I spoke to was lovely and sorted problem in no time.
I have used ABTA three times this year and will carry on using them. Well done.

Good quote for people with pre existing conditions. Better than all the 20% off adverts.

Problem renewing my travel insurance which ended up in a lengthy procedure and several phone calls and having to actually take out a new policy rather than simply renew.
Previous policy had been taken out online & my iPad would not facilitate the renewal as it would not permit pop ups which were apparently required. Tried to allow pop ups but could not despite following instructions given.
Reverted to further phone call to an agent & although the reminder letter said I could renew by phone was told this was not possible.
After reference to a manager she arranged phone renewal/ new policy via another agent. She did offer a small discount in view of the problem & length of time taken to resolve matters.
Even the payment procedure was lengthy being passed, eventually after a wait , to a person who could take payment and then having to be transferred back to previous agent.
I have taken out several travel policies with ABTA and was attempting to stay loyal despite cheaper quotes elsewhere and expected a simple and quick task. By the end of matters I was regretting my decision.
The agent did voluntarily record a complaint & I have received emails confirming matters are being looked into. I would like to stress that I had no complaint against any of the parties I spoke to, they were simply doing the best they could, the issue was with the procedure and inability to renew by phone as original purchase was online. Seems absurd when I can go online & see all details of both previous policies and this current new one as could the agents. . 🤷‍♂️

It was very easy to arrange the insurance that I required for my trip to Sri Lanka.
I hope it is a waste of money!
But the big test would occur if I have to make a claim and that is when I hope ABTA Travel Insurance will help.

Its hard to rate insurance companies when you have not needed to make a claim. All I can say is that (some) other travel insurers do not cover for lost travel costs, but from close reading of the information this one will cover situations that the others don't. I hope I never need to test this! I will be renewing this year.

Easy to set up good prices

Used ABTA travel insurance for a few years now after Martin Lewis gave this is thumbs up for older travellers.
Luckily not needed to use the cover but know its there .

Purchasing the policy on line was fairly straightforward. There was no need to attempt to contact anyone. Four stars given as the proof lies in performance of the company in the event of a claim, which is something no one wants to test!

I have made an online claim for a theft and waiting to hear back after 8 days so far. I can give a proper review when I know the outcome.
