Abels could not have been more helpful when I needed to move a few things from Norway to the UK. Everyone I dealt with were friendly and efficient; sales, the relocation co-ordinator and the crews who collected and delivered. Communication was first class, following up on paperwork and keeping me informed of collection and delivery times. I would not hesitate to use Abels again.

Unexpected Charges and Lack of Communication
My experience with Abels Moving Services has been deeply frustrating and disappointing, prompting me to write this 1-star review. After deciding to move to Cambridge, UK, my wife and I were assured by their professional demeanor and the expectations set during our initial discussions. However, the aftermath of our move has been anything but smooth.
Weeks after our move-in, which initially seemed successful, we were blindsided by an email from Abels demanding payment for additional charges that were never mentioned before. This came as a complete shock since we had paid all the previously agreed-upon fees, and at no point during the move were these extra charges disclosed.
Seeking clarity, I immediately contacted Abels, requesting proof of these unexpected charges and an explanation. My request was met with silence; no proof was provided, nor any attempt to address my concerns. Feeling left in the dark, I turned to their customer service for help, hoping for some resolution or at least an acknowledgment of my complaint. Yet again, my attempt to seek assistance was ignored, with no response received for over two weeks.
To add insult to injury, the next communication from them was not an attempt to resolve the issue or provide the requested proof but rather an email stating that my payment was past due. This lack of communication, transparency, and customer support from Abels Moving Services has been astonishingly poor. It's one thing to deal with unexpected charges, but it's entirely another to face complete disregard from a company when attempting to resolve such issues.
I had hoped for a smooth transition to our new home in the UK, but instead, I was left dealing with stress and frustration due to Abels' unprofessionalism. I write this review to caution others about my experience, urging potential customers to consider other providers who value transparency and customer service.

I am sorry to read your comments and that it took longer than we expected to gain confirmation and revert back to you. We should have responded to advise that we were working on an answer and reaching out to your Turkish mover for instruction.
As you know, we were acting on behalf of your Turkish removal company who you had the contract with and Abels were booked by them to provide the customs clearance and delivery elements only.
It is my understanding that we Abels were not made aware that you would be responsible for the payment of the arrival UK port charges in advance of the communication from my colleague Paul advising charges for your account.
I believe that you have received communication from the Turkish removal company since regarding this matter, in which they confirmed these charges are indeed for your account as per your quotation received from them. On accepting their quotation these charges were stated as excluded and payable by you at destination. If there is any reason these were not known to you, this should be taken up directly with your Turkish mover. Should you need our assistance or information to allow you to do this, please advise me at neilpertoldi@abels.co.uk
I note that you wrote on your delivery paperwork that you were very happy with the service provided on the customs clearance, delivery to your Cambridge residence and unpacking of your possessions. It is upsetting that this agreed contractual charge has tarnished the review you have given to us.

We'd use Abels again!
Moved back from Dubai to the UK and their team moved us back into our new home. Very courteous, professional and efficient. They erected some of the furniture too which was great. We used Pickfords to move out to the UAE and it was poor, much of our stuff arrived damaged but these were far better and not as expensive which was a bonus. The packing and wrapping was second to none.

Abel’s picked up my goods from Felixstowe, sorted out the customs duty, and delivered them safe and sound to the north of England. The service was absolutely first class and every member of staff. I spoke to couldn’t have been more helpful. Not a single item was damaged, and everything was done with goodwill and humour. Definitely recommend using this company

Abels an awful removal company
Abels failed to inform us for 2 months that they had taken over the contract storing our stuff and moved it to a new location 40 miles away. They refused to let us inspect our goods to make sure they were in good order. And charged exorbitant (3x) rates for storage. so we had to use alternative removal company for this. Some of our goods are missing, others are not in good condition. Staff were always rude and inconsiderate. This experience lasted for nearly a year before we were able to get out get out of their strangle hold contract.

I am saddened to read your comments given the circumstances.
We rescued the storage containers of customers from a removal company that went into liquidation. None of the old employees remained when we were granted permission, we therefore needed a period to investigate what customers containers were actually remaining in their warehouses. You were written to as soon as possible. We needed to vacate the old companies warehouse as conditions were unsuitable. Your effects were held in the same storage containers they were stored in with the old company, untouched during their time with Abels. The only time the containers were opened was when you asked for evidence we held your effects and requested we open the container doors to take photographs showing the contents which was done twice and emailed to you. You advised that you personally had regular access into the containers when they were held with the old company. Unfortunately you did not pay storage fees to the old company from 2018 and you did not pay your storage invoices to Abels for 12 months. Storage charges were held at the same rate you received from the old company for 24 months before we needed to increase the rates by 25% as you were paying less than half that of the industry standard for storage which was commercially unsustainable. You were written to advising of this and given 3 months notice of this increase. Quotations were provided on your request in December 2020 to deliver items to your home in Norwich and you advised you were arranging comparison quotes. No further instruction was received following these quotes until you went out from store on the 25/03/22.

Abels is a real 5 star company
Abels is a real 5 star company. I was intially impressed by their flexibility in taking some furniture into storage. Then the assessment of our moving needs was carried out with great professionalism. This included a clear explanation of how things would work, which was very helpful. Our exchange of contracts was quite late but Abels were understanding and supportive on this. It was incredibly easy to communicate either by phone or email. On the days of packing and removing and then delivery the crew were just brilliant, providing advice when we needed it and working really hard to get everything ready and moved. They were also really easy to talk to and work with. I would recommend them strongly and without reservation.
