They say they can provide phone number but if you sign up with them and there is no phone number you do t get it and after 1 month your credits are invalid. Poor and misleading, avoid!!!

Appalling service

Appalling service. Tried to search for details of a tenant I suspected of illegally subletting. I accidentally did the same search twice not only is 192.com data 20 years out of date (goes back to the last census) but they refused to refund any of my money.

Nothing more than scammers. Avoid

Dear Simon, The records we display on 192.com are provided from the open electoral roll and show a name, address and year a person was registered to vote at that address.
This means we will show previous/historic electoral roll data provided to us over the years.
If a current record isn’t shown, it means that the person(s) concerned had opted off the open electoral roll when canvassed by their local council. Our Help pages explain this in more detail.
As you had not been happy with the search results provided to you, our records show that a refund for the full amount of £19.14 has been processed for you.

I bought six credits and used one. 192.told me it would refund my payment, which I appreciate. I am still puzzled as to why I could not log on; and that I used the service once yet have used any credi

I bought six credits and used one. Now I want to use another but my signing in is denied. Tried forgot password and clicked reset but promised email did not come. Looks like I've paid nearly £20 and been able to use only one sixth of it.

Thieves, site should be shut down

Purchased 6 credits, whenever I go to get information on someone it claims I have 0 credits.

I have an email receipt and plan to dispute this with PayPal.

Give me a refund or I'll hassle you people for a long time.

Froze my account which caused major difficulties

I am amending this review following 192.com's reply. This was my original review, please note that the issue in para 2 has now been resolved (details added at the end):

As many others have described, these are a load of crooks. First they locked my account and said I’d used the wrong password ‘too many times’ (what’s the problem - other sites don’t lock you out till you email them if you use the wrong password - they just let you change yr password) or I may have “not used my account in some time”…isn’t that up to me?!

When they unfroze my account all trace of the nearly £20 they’d charged me for credits to do searches had disappeared and they said their records showed “no payments had been taken under this email address”. I sent them my bank statement showing the payment but fully expect I’ll have to take it up with my bank now.

Once upon a time 192 was a trusted service - then this lot bought the trademark and started running it into the ground - don’t touch with a barge pole….

AMENDMENT:
After I sent 192.com the proof of the payment I'd made, they re-contacted me and said they'd found my payment under a different email address (the same name before the @ but a different provider ie icloud.com instead if gmail.com so not that hard to find the first time if they'd looked instead of telling me there was no trace of it!). So they have now refunded me the payment and asked me to change my review. I have removed the 'ripped me off £20' reference in the title because they have now refunded me but I have no way of knowing if they would have done so if I hadn't written this review. I also acknowledge that I confused the two email addresses, but again, if I hadn't have been locked out of my first account then I wouldn't have had to open a new account with an email address I hardly ever use just to access their services. I still won't be using them again because although I want to be clear they did not rip me off £20, they still lock accounts if you use the wrong password too many times or don't use the account for an unspecified length of time. To me, this is unacceptable. If I had already bought credits in my other account I would have not been able to use them until I emailed them and waited for them to respond and unlock my account. And if for any reason they hadn't unlocked my account then I would have lost the money. I'm not prepared to risk either scenario. As another user said in their review, there are other sources of the information 192.com supply, and to me, the hassle of using their service is not worth the small amount of convenience they offer.

Upon looking into this for you, the payment has been located under a different email address from that you were communicating with us from. The account that was suspended didn’t have a payment made against it.
The full payment has been refunded back for you.

I was able to talk to a real person…

I was able to talk to a real person called Laura over the phone, who also recognised my email address. She sorted out my problems, helped me to get a new password when 192 had suspended my account and wouldn't recognise my former password. She was extremely helpful and if I could, I would send her a bottle of wine in appreciation.

Excellent Customer Services

Excellent Customer Services. Had not realised that credits expire after one month. A bit harsh to have to pay for 6 credits when you require only one, so the remaining credits disappear, however, Customer Services reinstated some credits. Thank you.

This is a waste of money
Purchased tokens and input name.
My screen closed and immediately reopened it search was gone so searched same name and was charged again.. font waste your time and money on this plus info they supplied was 5 years old do no use at all

Hello Chris, Our search system is set up to deduct a credit when you enter a name and location and press search. If you click on anything else within that search ie to look at a CCJ record or Director record, or other occupants' record, then this is a new search and another credit is used.
If you repeat the same search within the same session, then no further credit is used.
We also give you the option to download and save a record for future reference, once it appears on the results page. This will assist you so you don’t need to repeat a search you have already made.
The credit warning and credit counter options are both switched on by default for new credit users.
The records we display from the open electoral roll show a name, address, and year the person was registered to vote at that address. If a current record isn’t shown it means the person had opted off the open electoral roll with their council. We do explain this in more detail under the FAQ’s on the Help pages. Thanks.

SCAM! - Paid 20 quid for a contact telephone…

Paid 20 quid for a contact telephone number so I could fulfill a delivery contract, a green tick against phone number means they will SCAM you with their terms and conditions and just provide a whole load of irrelevant data if all you want is a contact number.

We offer '20 FREE' Directory Enquiry searches per day to search for a telephone number after an account has been registered.
To search you need to click into the ‘Directory Enquiry’ link on the homepage and enter the name and location of the person and if there is a telephone number available it will be displayed to you.
If a telephone number doesn’t appear it means the number is ex directory and it wouldn’t be listed.
We do advise that we can only show a telephone number, where available on the Get Credits page.
If you purchase credits, then these are to view premium data records, and we do advise of this before the payment is made. If you wish to contact us please email feedback@192.com.

A complete scam. Steals money for nothing.

Awful!!! I paid £19 for 6 credits. I literally made one search and it charged me £19 for a background report. The website didn’t even ask for consent to request payment for a background report. What the hell?!

192 selling empty reports

My family and I are planning a house move and I wanted to know more about my potential neighbours.
I paid for credits and was able to see street occupants names and addresses. But that was all.
Just a name and address, the address I already knew.
So I thought maybe background report worth 20£ would bring to light some more info that would tell me if I could look forward to decent neighbours or perhaps info that highlighted history about tenency, offences, whether a family lived there etc. The 20£ background report only generated a name and an address. I understand that either
1) this information is not available
2) the information is available but no effort had been made to attain it by 192.com

In which case the Empty report should not be sold or not generated. I shouldn't have to pay for for the report if it has no data in it. The report is your cost and I should pay for the information in it.

I feel this is unfair on the part of 192 that they can sell empty reports just because they can get away with it.

I won't be using their service again.

Dear Mr Taylor, We’re sorry that you were disappointed with the Background Report, we do state clearly on the site the type of information that is available in the reports. This doesn’t include criminal offences, but it would include indication as to whether the occupants were owners, whether they were directors of any companies, whether they had county court judgements against them at that address, and other details that many of our users do find very useful. However, as it has not satisfied your needs in this case, we have refunded your payments back. Thanks.

Took my £10 and didn't do my search

Took my £10 and didn't do my search. Then wouldn't refund my money back claiming some rubbish that my account had some issue. Wouldn't touch these rip off merchants with a barge pole.

Found on 192.com someone shown as…

Found on 192.com someone shown as living at my address who hasn’t lived there in over 20 years if ever. Also lists a person living there now who left 11 years ago when I bought the property. The accuracy of the data is a joke. Had to pay £19 only to find that information on my address. What a waste of money.

Pretty useless

I've purchased credits and now cannot access site

I've purchased credits and am trying to access the various searchs but get an error message saying that I have been blocked due to my suspicious activity. Please explain and either allow me access or reimburse the money I have paid.
