I purchased a Westinghouse generator model 5300DFCV through Home Depot earlier this year. It was delivered to my home and after I carefully assembled it following all instructions it would not start. I tried several times, checking and rechecking the instructions, and could not get it to start. On June 16 I contacted Westinghouse customer service. They began sending emails with suggestions on how to get it to start. I tried every suggestion over the course of 8 emails and videoed myself attempting the suggestions as per their request. The unit is to be run on propane and they then suggested that I put gasoline in it which I was not willing to do as I do not plan to ever use gasoline in it. After 3 more emails they suggested that I needed a high altitude kit. I bought the kit and let them know that I was taking the unit in to a service center. They stated that the cost of the kit and installation would not be covered and that they would cover up to $300 "if the issue is not deemed customer-caused or maintenance related." The service center installed the kit and the unit still would not start. They did troubleshooting and identified a "blockage at the regulator" as the problem and subsequently got it to start. I was charged $297.31. I submitted the invoice and Westinghouse responded that "the work done is considered maintenance work and would not be covered." Remember, this is a unit that had never started since purchased new. I was contacted by a customer service rep named Jasmine who stated that anything involving the kit would not be covered but if I submitted a more detailed, itemized invoice the other work might be covered. I submitted this and on 8/26. I received a response that I was being denied any reimbursement. So after 25 emails over the course of 2 months, and countless hours wasted, Westinghouse is taking no responsibility for a product that did not work when purchased new. I know we have all experienced some poor customer service these days, but this is just outrageous. I will never buy anything from Westinghouse again and I would strongly caution anyone who is considering buying one of their products.

I purchased a gas water pressure online and got it to my house on 6/22/26. I was finally able to put it together on 7/1, hoping to use it that day. I followed all the guidelines but when I started it up, there was no pressure at all. I had more pressure from my garden hose alone. I contacted Westinghouse to find out what to do. I sent them a video and they determined it was a faulty pump. They told me it was very easy to replace and I told them I thought I could do it. I got the 7/13 but had to ask them to send some directions since I wanted to be sure I did it all according to their plans. They did, and I tried to install it. It was not easy! It was very difficult to get the four bolts off the pump, that seemed to be way overtightened. I cut my arm in two places trying to get them off but finally did. Then I tried to install the pump. I could not get it to go all the way on. I had a difficult time getting it off but I tried several times to take it off then reinstall it but it would not go all the way on. I was lead to believe that if I called them they could help me with the install. I contacted them and they told me I had to take it to a certified repair place. I asked them to just replace the machine since it never worked from the time I bought, but they would not. They finally sent me a repair place address on 7/31, which was too far away and I asked for other options, which I received on 8/3. I took the machine to one that day and told Westinghouse which one. They assured me they sent over all the warranty information so it could be repaired free of charge. Every time I checked with the shop they told me they were waiting for Westinghouse and the warranty approval and Westinghouse told me they were waiting for the shop to send them what they needed. I did not get the machine back until 8/15/26. They whole experience was very frustrating so something that should have worked when I purchased it.

I did every troubleshooting thing they asked, I charged the battery with the charger they provide /. I previously had put I the oil, and attached the battery- I had a handyman here Doing other work so he did it .

He attached the propane hose - so I attached the propane tank-same as I have done a ton before with my propane grill, turned the eco mode off

. Turned the dial to propane -turned the propane open very slow;t and tried to start .

I do love when they treat their customers like they are Morons.

Westinghouse finally connected me to a supervisor , who said they need to get approval from a different supervisor for a replacement - never mind I threw away the box
. That’s on me ,expecting them to sell me a generator that works , also,I have an aortic aneurysm and I’d have
to hire someone to lift the generator and box it u up.

The other option , I can again lift a 150 lb generator into my Prius prime -which literally would endanger my life , aortic dissection ,

I can only,lift 40 lbs , oh and it won’t fit into my prime . Or I guess rent a truck
and drive it over a hour one way ,and pay mileage and gas . Or maybe I can pull it a hour away over a bridge .

Or they can pay for labor and parts and send the small engine repair shop to my house . Which is 100 bucks -which per their policy , I have to pay ,nothing they can do . They understand my situation but blah blah blah .

Stay far away from Westinghouse. I took a video on my iPad . They can’t view it- they. Refuse to tell me what format they need it .

company good shipped on time but the power washer is typical china junk, effort to start is ridiculous.

the generator is easy to use and understand, was also easy to assemble. I love that it is dual fuel either LP or Gas, is electric or pull start
