Disappointing! Terrible after sales!
Unfortunately, my experience after purchasing my Smart #5 from Mercedes-Benz of Reading was very disappointing.
Once the sale was completed, communication deteriorated. I repeatedly had to chase for responses and promised callbacks often never happened. When I did manage to speak to the salesperson, there always seemed to be an excuse for why they hadn't returned my calls or been able to help.
I also experienced problems setting up the Hello Smart app and digital key. Rather than the dealership taking ownership and resolving the issue, we ended up contacting Smart directly, who had to unlink the vehicle from the dealership's account before it could be registered to me.
The car had some “hedge grazes” on one side which I believe should have been polished out before I took delivery and the microphone for the hands free phone has road noise. The salesman was unhelpful with this and I will need to get it done under warranty. I travelled over 200 miles to Reading and back for the car so I cannot go in person to talk to them.
Since collecting the car, I haven't received a single courtesy call or follow-up to check that everything was working correctly or that I was happy with my purchase. For a premium dealership, the after-sales service fell well below my expectations.
Better communication, taking responsibility for resolving issues, and showing genuine care for customers after the sale would have made a significant difference. Sadly, based on my experience, I would not recommend Mercedes-Benz of Reading.
I sent a review to Vertu who contacted me for more information and was told it would be escalated to the management team for them to investigate and they would contact me directly. That was over 4 weeks ago and I’ve heard nothing since.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. I am sorry to read that your experience following the purchase of your smart vehicle did not meet your expectations, particularly regarding communication and the support you received after collection.
I would also like to apologise that you did not receive a response following your earlier contact with Vertu. We appreciate how frustrating this must have been.
With regard to the issues you experienced setting up the Hello smart app and digital key, Mercedes-Benz of Reading is no longer a smart retailer and therefore we no longer have access to the smart systems required to manage or amend account registrations. Unfortunately, this meant we were unable to directly resolve the issue ourselves. I appreciate this would not have been clear from your perspective and I am sorry for the inconvenience caused.
I am also disappointed to hear of your concerns regarding the vehicle preparation, the hands-free microphone performance and the lack of follow-up communication after your purchase. This is not the level of customer service we aim to provide.
We value all customer feedback as it helps us identify where we need to improve. Should you wish to discuss your experience further, please contact me and I will do what I can to assist you personally.

Very happy with the service! I found Heera very helpful and professional from start to finish. We received top-class service and I was well informed at every step of the process. The lady at the door was also very helpful right from the beginning. No pushiness from the staff and we found it a comfortable environment.

I recently purchased a 2026 CLA 250+ from Mercedes-Benz of Reading, and the entire experience was outstanding from start to finish, all thanks to Daniel Kozak.
I initially inquired about the car through AutoTrader, and Daniel contacted me the very next day. The entire process was incredibly smooth—it took just four phone calls in total to buy the car and arrange delivery!Daniel is patient, caring, and extremely efficient. Because I am away from my phone during the workday, I deeply appreciated how easily he transitioned our communication to email to fit my schedule. There was absolutely no haggling or pressure to purchase extra add-ons, which was incredibly refreshing.He is an absolute professional.
I wish everyone looking for a new or used vehicle could have Daniel Kozak as their sales executive. Thank you, Daniel, for making this the easiest car-buying experience ever!
The seamless experience continued right through to the delivery, thanks to Dave Mudge. Dave delivered the vehicle with extreme care and stayed in constant contact with me throughout the process. He even arrived earlier than expected, which was perfect because I was so excited to get the vehicle! He was incredibly friendly upon delivery and took the time to walk me through the vehicle's features.
Overall, a 10/10 experience with Mercedes-Benz of Reading. The team is magnificent!

Excellent experience from start to finish with Vertu Reading Mercedes-Benz when purchasing my new AMG GT63. Excellent service
Everything was excellent from the first test drive until the handover was completed (which only took ~3 weeks in total). My purchase was taken care of by Diego and Henry, who are extremely friendly and helpful (as well as the other supporting staff). At every step of the process, Diego and Henry advised and explained everything to me clearly, as this was my first time buying a car in the UK.
