Terrible company, refused to help me cancel my auto renew. Never answers their phone, can only email. Care has 20x the caregivers and customer service is 20x better too

It’s just terrible. My profile is hidden for over 9 months. I sent the costumer service an e mail so many times to solve it. They only sent me an automatic e mail as a response. I told them it didn’t work and I really needed someone to help me and I gave them my number a few times but nobody called me back and they keep sending me automatic e mail. And I thought they didn’t help me because I didn’t pay for the profile and I did pay yesterday. I renewed my profile. Added more things about myself , changed my profile picture etc.

My profile is hidden again :) It says contact to costumer service . Which costumer service ? And the worst thing is I paid $25 and got nothing back. I sent them an e mail again today but I know I will only get an automatic e mail back. It’s so sad the number of costumer service doesn’t work on google. There is no way to reach them out unless they reach you out which is impossible..!!

My husband and I hired a babysitter from Urbansitter to cover childcare for our two youngest children for one week. I had what seemed to be a normal interview with the sitter. In actuality, she was late the first day, and very late the second day. When I called her on the second day to find out where she was I mentioned that I left laundry on my bed. I had no intention of asking her to do laundry. Because her phone connection was bad, she assumed that i was asking her to do laundry. She started yelling and cussing at me and telling me that she would not do our laundry. I tried to explain, but her phone kept cutting out as she yelled at me. I became afraid that she was unstable, and should not watch my children. I called her back and told her not to come to babysit. This infuriated her, and she came to our house anyway. She violent screamed at my husband in front of our children. She tried to pick up my youngest, who was two. She told my husband she wouldn't leave until he paid her cash for the week. He wrote her a check for the day before and for that day even though she didn't work for us that day. We were traumatized by the event. Guess what? She is still on Urban Sitter. I filled out forms, called, emailed. They really never did anything. She has good reviews! Months later I am concerned that she has rage tendencies and may hurt someone. Urbansitter never followed up with any of my complaints. They never called me, they would reply to my email saying that someone would call, and no one ever did. I would put the name of the sitter here, but they have blocked that sitter from my view. She told them that we asked her to do laundry and that we lived in an inappropriate setting. I am a residential minister at a university, and I thoroughly explained that I live in an apartment building with a bunch of college students. Please don't use urban sitter. The reviews are not trustworthy. We are lucky that this particular babysitter didn't lose her temper at one of our children. She is dangerous and potentially violent, and Urbansitter was careless and irresponsible about follow up.

They are changing their policy and expecting sitters to pay even if they can't provide work in your area,and it's not worth it to pay.

I'm kind of in shock seeing the super negative reviews. I've received thousands of hours of work through UrbanSitter the last 2.5 years. In the Bay Area the rates are good for nannies/sitters and families are wonderful. Warning to families: you get what you pay for. Minimum wage is $15/hr here and sitters generally make closer to $20 and sometimes $25 here. Use the site/app as intended and look for sitters recommended by your common groups, check reviews, look for a background check. It's very convenient for both sides. Sitters, it may take time to get a few reviews under your belt and get jobs/requests.

UrbanSitter is exploitative to sitters
I have waited for a week for a response from UrbanSitter's customer support team via email (they only way to reach them). None of the new services being offered to sitters are of use to us. We are treated as commodities and are expected to pay as consumers. I use to recommend UrbanSitter to other child care professionals, now I will have to seek out an alternative option that values their independent contractors.

They will tell you it’s totally free, “make money for free” but then you’ll receive an email from the founder stating they have changed things and your profile will be hidden until you pay $25 a month. Total waste of time. Care.com is only $10 a month, you’re better off using that.

There are not enough active sitters on the site for it to be useful. The background checks are not required for sitters. If you request one, all they send you an email asking for the cost of a background check. It is not included in the membership. It is a waste of money.

ZERO STARS!
In order to start the process of your profile you must complete all these steps which is understandable; however one of them is your banking information. You're coerced into sharing your banking information in order to verify your identity. Then 2 weeks later they run a background check, seems backwards. A month later my application was denied with this reason: "The consumer reporting agency did not make the adverse decision, and is unable to explain the specific reason why the adverse action was taken." URBAN SITTERS does not review the file, they immediately deny your application. I work for the government and my background check has never been an issue. THIS WHOLE EXPERIENCE WAS EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING AND DISAPPOINTING!!!! COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME AND ENERGY. GREAT CONCEPT, TERRIBLE ORGANIZATION.

If I could give this website zero stars I would. This website is a scam to get you to upgrade. After you post a job a few sitters will inquire about your job. Some will not respond or a sitter will state that they have accepted the job and not show up for the scheduled time. Do your self a favor and use one of the other websites if you need reliable a sitter.

I love how all of these reviews say parents beware when really it’s US sitters who need to beware! This site is filled with bazaar parents and no support from the care team when we are placed in these situations. They only care about the parents because that’s where the money comes from. But UrbanSitter you are ABSOLUTELY NOTHING without us sitters. I’ve seen so many horrific things happen to sitters in the support group by parents and U.S. just blows it off. Things such as non-payment of services, verbal abuse by parents, dangerous situations by parents, and one-sided false reviews by parents. If a sitter contacts support about a parent, they could give 2 sh!ts. When a parent contacts, the sitter instantly is in trouble. Parents shouldn’t be allowed to review sitters if sitters cannot do the same. Support will just hit you with the same old “I was a sitter too so I understand” BS. This app won’t make it as far as they think until they get their sh!t together. NEVER. Sitters be careful on this app. You may have found good parents but the one day you run into a horrible one. UrbanSitter WILL NOT SUPPORT YOU. Good luck trying to get a response!

This is some kind of shady company luring shady parents! Advice from someone who got Royally Screwed who’s checking account was cleaned out. I recent worked for a single mom, not only did she refuse to pay me in cash, and promise to pay me by credit but after waiting over a week to receive each payment she then disputed all 5 payments and take them back out of my bank account ! Always insist on cash only. Even if you trust someone they can dispute it up to 90 days.. which is what happened to me. Then for whatever reason urbansitter would not help me, instead they closed my account. I’m going to court and suing not only the parent but Urbansitter for the hassle. If you’ve had a good experience then my bad and best of luck.

I tried many times to cancel my membership and I'm still getting money deducted from my account, evertime I get a customer service representative they say it's all taken care but every month I have money taken out of my account.
I am so disappointed.
This has gone on for 4 months, that almost 80.00 stolen from my account, and from my family.
Anyone have any tips to get this handled would be greatly appreciated

I hired a babysitter off of this site and she stole out of my house. I reached out to the company numerous times and NEVER got a response. I will make sure no one will use this site and make sure that this young lady doesn’t do the same thing to another family.

Urbansitter is basically a scam. It advertise that "generlly" you will receive upto 10 interests within the hour you have posted your job. I posted a job in the middle of night and guess what exactly 10 inetests within 1 hour. Middle of night, 10 interests !! I being desperate paid the monyhly fee and responded to 5 out of the 10 interests. Its been since 3 days, no one responded to my message and no new interest I received. So the interests that you will get after posting your job are fake to bait you pay their membership fee. Learn from my mistake, if not, go ahead and be disppointed.

A babysitter that I booked through the UrbanSitter website came to my home to babysit my daughter. During the time she spent at my home, she sat on and broke the arm of my couch. I do not appreciate that I entrusted my space and child with this sitter and her nor UrbanSitter feel they are accountable for the issue. The sitter said nothing about the damaged furniture upon my arrival home. I had to call her to inquire about it and at that point she admitted to it. UbranSitter told me that it isn't their problem and they will do absolutely nothing about it. They did this through use of a copy and paste boiler plate I'm sure they use a lot citing their Terms of Service. I did not request reimbursement for my 2 year old couch to be repaired. I simply requested a refund which they refused. There is nothing different from a parent finding a random sitter off of the street and inviting them into their home. UrbanSitter knows nothing about the people they allow on their site. They allow reckless people on their site and do nothing if the sitter does something negative. This company cares more about money than their customers. If I could leave 0 stars, I absolutely would. Think not twice, but three times before booking through their site. If anything goes wrong while the sitter is with your child, UrbanSitter will do not a thing.

"When our team receives reports of member incidents, we take the matter seriously and do what we can to investigate and respond to such matters. As UrbanSitter is a marketplace and not an employer, unfortunately we are limited in our ability to assess damages incurred during a job. However, please rest assured that we've taken the appropriate actions in response to uphold our values. "
They did nothing at all to investigate the incident and asked me no questions regarding it. What appropriate actions were taken in response? None were shared with me. I asked for a refund and they refused and shut down the incident. If they actually took any action like they said they did, this complaint wouldn't exist.

Customer service is horrible you never receive a response. I have been reaching out because I have yet to get paid for a job I did four days ago and no one seems to respond to emails. Bad enough they don't have a contact number.

I honestly wish I would have read the reviews about this company before ever signing up. I, like many of the reviewers on here, cancelled my membership prior to renewal date and are still getting charged! I contacted customer service via email, as this is the only way to get in contact with someone at the company. Customer service was useless, and basically just stated that they couldn't refund the membership. I tried explaining that I cancelled prior to the renewal date and that I shouldn't have been charged. The response I received: " Thanks for reaching out! I'd be happy to take a look at your account. Our records indicate that you selected the renewing Monthly Membership on 5/11/2019. Per the terms of UrbanSitter membership subscriptions, we are unfortunately unable to refund your membership purchase. We apologize for the inconvenience."
User beware - I cancelled my membership and instead of the company cancelling it, they said I selected to renew my monthly membership. So we will see what happens next month, even though my account has been cancelled since May 10th.

I recently email UrbanSitter almost a week ago about a unnecessary charge to my account. I have YET so be heard so I wrote another email two days ago and the same thing happened. I dont know what is going on with this company but it needs to be responsive because this isn't not helpful man! Yall are being bogus af.
