It's not a bad shop

It's not a bad shop, it's just a little missold.

Bought a navy jumper and raf tailor pants. Very happy with the jumper, good size, comfortable, and keeps you warm. The tailor pants also do fit.

The issue is with the trousersthat it's not surplus, it's made in China. The actual cut could be considered fine if that was what was actually advertised, but the waist is too low, isn't fully what was expected of surplus, and does really match expectations of what you'd see from other surplus providers.

Other items may be better, but for now, avoid the trousers at very least.

In this specific case, the Black RAF Tailor Pants you purchased are actually genuine surplus items—manufactured in China by order of the British Army itself. It might sound surprising, but even official military organizations sometimes outsource production to countries like China for economic and logistical reasons.

Absolute Disaster – Avoid at All Costs!

This has got to be the most appalling shopping experience I have ever had. From start to finish, Univer Surplus managed to fail in every imaginable way. First, the communication was non-existent. I tried reaching out multiple times through email and their so-called customer support line – and let me tell you, I would have had more luck getting a response from a brick wall. When they finally decided to respond (days later, mind you), their answers were vague, dismissive, and didn’t even address half of my questions. It was like talking to a bot programmed to frustrate customers.

But the real nightmare began when my package arrived. I was expecting high-quality, original deadstock materials as promised. What I got instead were laughable, cheap Chinese knockoffs that looked like they had been dragged through a trash heap. The items were damaged, with torn seams and discoloration that was beyond repair. Calling this “deadstock” is an insult to the term. It was blatantly clear that these goods were the lowest-quality rip-offs, the kind you’d be embarrassed to admit you paid anything for, let alone what Univer Surplus charged.

And speaking of price – the absolute audacity! I found the exact same knockoff items on other sites, priced at a third of what I paid here. It’s infuriating to realize how blatantly this company preys on its customers’ trust, selling shoddy products for outrageous markups. I feel like a fool for falling for it and won’t be making the same mistake again.

Save yourself the frustration, disappointment, and financial loss. Univer Surplus isn’t just a bad retailer – it’s a shameless scam. Avoid them like the plague.

I think there is an intern working in sales

The website said the item was available. I ordered it and a few days later I got a message saying the item was not available. I then decided on something else and was told that the item was back in stock. In the end I got something completely different to what I wanted. I ordered a hat and it was a jacket. I never ordered from the website again and I don't recommend it to anyone!!!!!

got my refund

bought a jacket and beanie. the beanie was a keeper but the jacket had to be returned. they have received the returned jacket but now there is complete radiosilence.
UPDATE!
I didnt think I would recive my refund but I just did. so instead of giving a really poor review I have changed it. The biggest problem is the lack of communication though.

Single worst online retail experience…

Single worst online retail experience ever. No follow through on exchanges, refunds, or new orders. Most everything they have can be found on eBay for half the price anyway

The absolutley worst shopping…

The absolutley worst shopping experience one could imagine.
1. Took long time for the arrival, no answer
2. Recived the wrong size, no answer
3. Sent it back with my own money becuase the didnt sent me a parcel and no answer until I have sent it.
4. Took a looooong time for refund but would not recive the whole refund. So I have been asking 10 time and they always answer we will do it but no progress. Bought the Jacket in July and still no refund in october. They are delusional

Buyer Beware

I ordered one beanie via Apple Pay and unfortunately my payment went through before I saw that flat rate shipping is £20 - which is fine for larger items but for a BEANIE?! Absolutely absurd.

I emailed them immediately with a request to cancel my order but didn’t hear back until the day my beanie was meant to be delivered, when they told me I could post the item back at my own expense.

Once I opened the parcel the beanie STANK of vintage storage must and took several washes to become useable.

To date they haven’t responded to my email asking for clarification and help.

If I were you I’d avoid like the plague. Absolutely atrocious customer service, insanely pricey shipping, and very smelly products.

Amazing job guys

Amazing job guys, I bought the raf tailor pants in the 3 colors amazing rugged products. I’ve read than the customer service was chaotic but they wrote a disclaimer on Instagram. They have to move their warehouse last summer during the Olympics.

Chaotic business, very slow Customer Service

After waiting for more than two weeks for my order to ship, I tried to contact their customer service via e-mail. No response. Finally, a few days later, my order was shipped, but when it arrived, 2 of the items were completely the wrong size and one was a different item alltogether.

Trying to reach customer support was a complete nightmare. No response until I finally decided to get PayPal involved, and from then on different people have been messaging me and responding to my messages.

Instead of the requested replacement items (after a few more days of silence and then finally receiving a return lable), I received a message that my returned goods had arrived at their warehouse and I would be receiving a refund minus the shipping costs for the return. So they want me to pay for their mistake?

I frankly have given up at this point. This has been going on for three months.

Their website is also partly messy/unstructered. Descriptions are not always consistent, availability changes while items are in your shopping cart. They have pretty pictures some nice products, but clearly, their focus is mostly on appearance and marketing. Shame!

Wrong size, broken zipper, no response. Got refunded eventually.

Send me pants in the wrong size, with a broken zipper. After reaching out for a solution, no response.

18-09-2024. Sent the damage pants back, still no response (after more than a week) whatsoever.

20-09-2024. Got a refund (including the delivery costs). Also they offered me a 10% discount on the next delivery. Eventually resolved. They need to be way more precise with what they send (that is: in good codition and in the right size) but mostly, need to be way more responsive.
