I was really worried about programming…

I was really worried about programming my own key and skeptical about Tom’s low prices, the salespeople at Costco wanted $400! But I bought it anyway hoping for the best. Then I took a long time working up the courage to do it myself. I shouldn’t have worried at all! The entire process took less than 10 minutes! Now I have 2 working car keys and priceless peace of mind! Thank you Tom’s keys!!

my experience with Jason was great

my experience with Jason was great, but after that he told me to contact customer support for a new key and they are very difficult to deal with as they are not taking Jason at his word and are dragging this out by having me go through each step AGAIN one step, one email. It doesn't matter I already did this w/ Jason on the phone.

Not great-poor instructions and unpleasant tech support

There were no instructions included with our keys and programmer. Just a scan code that didn't work. I had to search through YouTube videos, then call tech support. Tech person was in between nice and nasty and had to go through the process several times. Finally did get them to work. One page of instructions would have gone a long way!

Saved hundreds on key fobs

After an online chat with Jake, I was able to save HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS by purchasing and programming my fobs myself. I’ve always known that stealerships are a ripoff, but you never know how much you’re getting ripped off until you dig in a little bit. I will keep Tom’s key locked in and share my experience with everyone.

Do not hesitate to use Tom's Key Company!

I'm so glad I went with Tom's Key Company instead of the dealership when one of my daughter's truck keys stopped working. I did initially have some difficulty programming the remote, but Tom's Key Company provided AMAZING customer service that was both responsive and helpful. By the time it was all said and done, I spent about 1/3 of what the dealer wanted to charge me. Do not hesitate to use Tom's Key Company!

I was contacted simply based on the fact I had called their number. I did not leave a message or speak to anyone. Obviously someone figured there might be a customer with a question so the call was made to me. That is outstanding Customer service. Thank you!

I found this company on line having…

I found this company on line having received only 1 Key fob for my newly purchase F150 Truck in San Francisco which I drove and left in rural secluded Seattle area.Returning to SF decided I need spare keys immediately only to find out from all locksmith they needed the truck to program new keys!Tom`s customer service was amazing only to realize I was speaking to AI intelligence and only once did I speak with a live person who was very helpful.I purchased the EZ programmer box they recommended praying it would work out which it did!Great quick service and would use again.Only negative is the continued email review requests on and on..

stellar disappointment

I received and programmed my key in Sep 2025.
It needed a new battery about every 12 weeks.
Yesterday it stopped working completely, lucky for me it was in my driveway and my factory key got me to work today.
Far from my expected level of reliability!

After checking, we see that your order was placed in September 2024 (not 2025) and included an aftermarket smart key. While we do our best to source premium-quality aftermarket products, there are still a number of factors that can affect battery life and long-term reliability—such as manufacturing variance, frequent use, or even where the key is stored, as smart keys constantly emit signals that can drain the battery more quickly.

We understand how frustrating it is to deal with an unreliable key, and we want to help. If you’re considering a longer-term solution, we do offer OEM keys, and we’d be happy to provide a discount toward one should you choose to upgrade.

Semi-functional product, terrible customer service

Shipped fob was defective - everything worked except the lift gate. Forget about Customer Service - the number that comes with the programmer goes to the key-paring app (PMK) people who swear if you have a problem the only way to reach Tom's is by email. That address bounces. Found and used the robot return page and they charge you 19.99 to exchange a defective product!! Total BS

Positive Experience

Needed a spare fob for push button to start Camry. Dealer wanted a fortune. Researching sources to accomplish this, I found Tom's Key with helpful YouTube videos and decided to try. Everything went smoothly in 5 minutes and returned product. Very well done operation. If I have any note to give, it would be beneficial to have order number printed on return label.

My wife lost her car keys

My wife lost her car keys. They were the transponder type that need to be programmed. I looked on line and noticed Tom's Key Company. They had a key programmer you plug into your car to program your transponder key. I ordered the item on line. After a while we found my wife's car keys, so I e-mailed Tom to see about cancelling the order and he put me in touch with Mariah. She helped me out with no problem. They were real helpful and courteous about my situation. There going to be my "go guys" if and when I need something in the future. RAB

Warning!!

I ordered a replacement key and the one they sent was defective. They then made me jump through hoops trying to program it again when they knew it would not work. They then made me open up all my keys and send photos of the boards to them before they finally agreed the key they sent was defective. They wanted me to send back a key that was permanently programmed into my car and would start it, but had remote buttons that did not work. When I posted a bad review, they ask me what they could do to make it right. When I told them they refused to do it and just removed my review from their site which is probably why you only see good reviews there. Also, they only refund a portion of the deposit they take for the device. Skip this and go to the dealer or Ace hardware!

Your original order was unfortunately lost in transit, and we promptly issued a replacement. Once that replacement was on the way, the original package arrived, and you were able to successfully program that first key. While we did our best to assist with troubleshooting the second key, we also asked for internal photos as part of our process to verify and resolve hardware issues efficiently.

Regarding your request to have the emergency blade cut—we recommended using a local locksmith for faster turnaround, not because we were unwilling to help. We could absolutely assist with key cutting as part of a new order if preferred. As for the dealership fee related to key erasure, that falls outside the scope of our services and is typically based on personal preference and vehicle security protocols.

We never remove reviews from third-party platforms and always aim to learn from feedback, good or bad. Our team genuinely wants to help, and we remain open to further communication to resolve any lingering concerns. Thank you!

Simple process, prompt service, great results!

Ordering process is simple and straightforward. Because I had an unusual requirement, I needed a little extra help. Tom's Key Company folks were quick to respond to my questions and provided a simple solution. My keys, fobs and programmer arrived promptly and the process of programming my cars to the new fobs went flawlessly. Great experience. I would recommend Tom's Key Company without reservation.

Very fast and efficient customer service

I ordered the kit to program my key fob and didn't realize that the kit came with another key fob so I ordered one separately. When they arrived, I immediately contacted customer service and they responded almost immediately with the message that they would send me a shipping label for my quick return.

I had previously ordered a key fob and it works perfectly!

The new key experience

Naturally I had concern that it might not turn out, but as it turned out. I had no worries whatsoever. Everything worked out well and the service was excellent. I truly was a pleasure and hardly recommend looking here the next time you need a key. I know I will and will be back soon to key up another vehicle

I Highly Recommend Tom's Key Co.

I've purchased keys and key-programming services from Tom's Keys for several years now. I've recommended them to friends who have been thrilled with the ease of the process and the significant savings compared to a new dealer key. For the first time, I had a problem programming my most recent key purchase from Tom's, probably due to my interrupting the process inadvertently. Mariah, the support agent, guided me patiently through recovery steps. She demonstrated professionalism that renewed my faith in internet-based transaction. I will continue to use Tom's anytime I or my family members need a key (seems like every time there's a new car running around) and will continue to highly recommend Tom's and the easy experience to friends and colleagues who don't have a spare.
