My initial writer was severely behind…
My initial writer was severely behind the deadline, and just went on vacation without notice, and I attempted calling to get support or advice, which was super clunky; I was always diverted to the dashboard, which doesn't really serve to fill requests. Any information I got back was vague on next steps; and even though it was my first publishing adventure (which I eventually finished), nearly all the folks past their stated deadline. Overall the product was decent; not sure yet if I'll be using them for my next book.

Completely fail their customers consistently in so many ways
More lack of consistency across their platforms but especially staff. Staff do not get back to you and when they do they only have their half of the story. They do not know the history of the company recently therefore make poor decisions and try to push inaccurate representations onto you. They don't tell you the whole story, and unfortunately, you find that out the hard way. Every new staffer I've met never has a clue about the history of what I am asking about. It is all rigged to make their path easy not the customers. I've been berated by new staff about items that were not even in play at the time. I spent $8000 Australian and don't feel I got my money's worth in any way. I wasn't supported, was not told anything they later brought up to cover up stuff, they do not bother to even answer emails most of the time, and then play dumb when they do. They see newcomers as fair game for a scam really. Communication was awful considering they are all communication specialists. They would have had five times that business already if they treated me with anything but disdain. Be very wary folks. You might get to the end but it will be hard slog and they will use your ignorance of how these things work to prosper further from you. Sad but true. It has to be good business for the customer as well as the business.

The Urban Writers is too expensive
I used The Urban Writers to do book covers for Amazon books. The cover design was very good, but they are way more expensive than Getcovers. I will not use The Urban Writers to do book covers again.

Not quality work/ Massive AI usage
I've worked with four ghostwrites all have used AI to write the book/outline. I do recognize AI when used and I know it makes it easier but I specially requested no AI usage and to be original. The sentences are very monotone and does a lot of telling instead of showing on two of my books in progress. They'll pretend that they're not using AI but they most definitely are. Nuances such as straight quotation marks instead of curly/ telling vs. showing/ cringy dialogue/ characters not consistent.

Good for first time authors…
The platform needs to be faster to provide enhanced communication for its clients. This is because we're all around the world, and the live chat wasn't always available for instant responses. In saying that, when l did see it was available for a live chat it was great, as l was able to achieve a lot more. I have chosen to go elsewhere, and pay again, to get my bookcover completely redone, as it was not unique enough and not really my vision. The person who did the work said he did his best, and l guess one can't ask for more. Generally it's been a great learning process for me. It took overall far too long, even if l exclude the Christmas period. Good for a first book experience.
