I initially used the Mortgage Genie two years ago when I bought my first property. I was apprehensive because I had no idea what I was doing and that due to my location, I would be doing everything over the phone. Those fears were quickly removed after my initial conversation with Matt. He instantly put my mind at ease and explained the options I had in every small detail. This left me incredibly informed and allowed me to make my decision.

I returned to The Mortgage Genie two years later for my re-mortgage and experienced the same high level service that I had received when I was a new client. I was made to feel valued and looked after even though I was not a new client, which is very rare these days. Once again the process was made easy for me and I received the relevant information to help me make a decision.

Throughout my dealings with The Mortgage Genie I have been well informed, kept up to date and looked after very well. Been investing in property for a number of years, but these guys are hands down the best brokers we've ever worked with so glad we were referred to them!

They have some incredibly in-depth knowledge of the industry, and have crafted some amazing solutions to match some specific needs. They've even helped pull it out the bag and help us get our dream home, which was no easy feat! But what really counts is the communication- always feel like we're being kept in the loop with progress rather than having to chase (which put us off our old brokers!), and cannot recommend them highly enough!

I can't give enough praise to the mortgage genie. What an amazing service from start to finish, incredibly professional with the comforting touch of friendliness and familiarity. No question was too big or small for them and they were so efficient in coming back to us.

My number 1 pet hate is chasing people to get the info you need but the mortgage genie were so proactive and on the ball at every single stage throughout our mortgage process. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I've already recommended them to all my family and friends that's how impressed I was.

The mortgage genie was very helpful to me and my partner, due to the current situation with covid I was expecting it to be a slow process but it was nothing as such, always on hand to answer any questions with a very fast response.
This being our second mortgage advisor that we have used I will certainly not being using anyone else in future as I would recommend this company to anyone, great friendly team with great results.

Highly Recommend!

I have never needed to write a negative review, however the service I had received from Mortgage Genie was appalling.
I was assigned someone who initially was helpful, then when he knew a 10% deposit was my preferred option his engagement decreased massively. Replies were weeks apart, the agent then had to keep chasing.
A couple weeks later when he finally called we were getting information together as a new lender was coming out a few days later offering 90% mortgages. After that phone call I did some further research myself to find out that lender was NOT doing the 90% on flats / apartments (which is what I was buying). I then called, emailed and messaged about this and didn’t hear a single thing back. No apology. No explanation. Nothing.
I really did waste a lot of time and managed to find a better deal myself.
Being a first time buyer I thought having a mortgage broker would help with the ease of everything but in actual fact caused me more stress.
I am not one to complain however I have written this to hopefully save time for someone else.

Being a first time buyer I was nervous about the mortgage process. I can say The Mortgage Genie really went above and beyond to help. From the first phone call they made sure I fully understood the process. Also I was impressed with the speed at which they work, from putting our application in we had our mortgage offer two days later!

I can’t recommend these guys more highly, Matt and Dan thank you for making a scary decision so easy! Will defiantly be using again.

Been dealing with them for a year or so and got unlucky with a few failed valuations.
Once i found a new property i emailed the details to will my advisor. He then didn’t reply at all and it impacted my purchase. He never even bothered to tell me he had no intention of helping, this was now about 2 months ago and still never emailed back to help me.

I wondered if he was on long term sick, but i rang in and the secretary (who was useless and rude) confirmed he was on a call and would ring me back. Obviously he never did and i never heard back from him again. Not even the decency to tell me i wasn’t worth his time and it ruined my purchase. Irresponsible behaviour, poor professionalism and not in keeping with his job title. The estate agent that recommended them said she had other similar cases and is looking cor a new broker. It isn’t just me. I would recommend first mortgages who have excellent reviews and treat customers with respect.

Avoid.

Rebecca Blacklock at the mortgage genie was amazing we got turned down for a few options but she always found away around it and we are now completing on our first home! We wouldn’t of been able to do it with out her! Amazing service and quick reply’s to my 10 emails and a dozen phone calls a day with questions, nothing is too much trouble for her and is very down to earth. A great asset to the company

Dealt with Will @ the mortgage genie, and couldn’t have wished for anyone better!! He kept in touch constantly and updated as soon as he knew anything... he managed to sort us remortgage deal we were more than happy with and it was all done and within 3 weeks!!

When I first contacted the mortgage genie James was very positive then I mentioned we only had a 10% deposit with historical defaults his mood changed as if we were going to cause him more work. His negativity made us think we were fighting a losing battle and would never get a mortgage, I had to chase him constantly, he allowed companies to carry out full credit searches on us before we had discussed what the terms would be. Finally after three weeks of stress and anxiety I decided to contact a high street lender myself we were instantly given an AIP and within two weeks a full offer with terms that suit us. 6 weeks later we are now in our own lovely home but wish I had never wasted my time with James at the Mortgage Genie he just caused needless stress for my family.
