This is a beautiful pub in a lovely location. The manager Ryan has done a superb job turning the pub around and this is reflected in the whole experience; lovely food, friendly staff and great service. Special shout out to our server also Georgina who took the time to list all ingredients in a meal to assist me with my choice. Well done to Ryan and the team. We’ll be back!

Went in on Saturday with my G/F for Lunch. We ordered two meals but got overcharged. We waited ages for our meals to arrive. Eventually my meal arrived but not my G/Fs. We waited a while but my G/F eventually went and asked where her meal was. It arrived a short time later. When she tried the food it was cold and I mean stone cold. By this time we had had enough and got a full refund and left and will not be going again

Staff l asked if there was any body serving told I'm talking served a couple of minutes later staff not very friendly please if you like being treated with respect don't go in to this pub.

I love coming here weekly actually twice a week if we can great food great prices food delicious tasty great value for money fantastic selection chefs r amazing all staff very kind polite :)

My wife booked for a u3a group of 12 for Sunday lunch 2 weeks ago & she was quoted £17 per head.
As she had previously collected the monies from the attendees beforehand she chose to pay the bill upon our arrival only to be told that in the meantime the cost had risen to £18.50 per head. We disputed this as we had been quoted for a booking that was 2 weeks away only to be told that costs had risen & it was beyond the control of the landlord. But as we had made a verbal contract we continued to dispute this to be told that if we weren't prepared to pay the extra we would not be served. This is outrageous & possibly even illegal. The u3a group will never return!

Amazing food cooked by Claire cooper great place to come to all times of the year , staff are great and very friendly.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Talbot bravo Clair, Cooper, and Tolbot their classic beef dinner left a lasting impression. The beef was beautifully cooked—tender, full of flavor, and clearly prepared with care. It had that perfect balance of seared crust on the outside with a juicy, melt-in-your-mouth interior.

Accompanied by rich gravy, crisp seasonal vegetables, and fluffy roast potatoes, the meal felt like a comforting, elevated take on a Sunday roast. The portion was generous without being overwhelming, and the presentation struck a nice balance between rustic and refined.

Service was warm and attentive, with the staff making sure everything was to our liking. The setting itself added to the experience—charming, inviting, and with a laid-back countryside feel that made it easy to relax and enjoy.

Just had a really lovely three night stay at this hotel, really impressed at how friendly and welcoming the staff are especially the receptionist Gabby she went the extra mile for us, even went to the trouble of printing a map for an attraction we were interested in going to, the food was excellent, definitely will be returning.

Had an absolutely fantastic meal at The Talbot in Atherton! The rare rump steak surf and turf was cooked to perfection—tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The seafood accompaniment was fresh and delicious, making for a perfect combination.

What truly made the experience outstanding was the top-notch customer service from the terrific trio—Gemma, Jane, and Leona. Their friendly, attentive, and professional approach made us feel so welcome. Nothing was too much trouble, and their smiles and warmth added to the wonderful atmosphere.

Highly recommend The Talbot for a fantastic meal and exceptional service. Can’t wait to return! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Me and my wife had a meal at the talbot pub on nottingham read manfield on the 4/2/2025 it was the worst food I've come across, I had the mix grill the steak was 2" round I've never seen a steak smaller than a fried egg befor in my life and ive had lots of steaks in my time & it was very dry, i ask where is the steak was ,they reply thats how it comes to them pre cooked,the chicken was like dry rubber over cooked, my wife's burger was burnt & dry ,we made a complaint about it ,the chicken was replaced, the steak wasn't, they said thats the size of it when they get it ,they offered us a free drink which i find was a insult considering both meals cost over £30 i wish I could upload a photo for people to see how bad our food was,apart from the food not being that good it's a nice place for a drink,they didn't offer a replacement meal or refund us,and the disable toilet sink tap turned when you try to turn the water on apart from all this it's a nice place

Lovely place great staff but a couple of little niggles unfortunately, there’s a lovely open fire but think the chimney must need cleaning as the whole place smelt of smoke & it wasn’t all going up the chimney but into the dining area as well, we would of preferred not to smell of smoke when we left.
No plain potatoes on the menu, fancied a Sunday lunch but the potatoes had garlic rub, decided on pie & mash but the mash had spring onions in it, so not good for people who can’t have onions & garlic, surprisingly no plain option available.

I couldn’t recommend this place enough! Great atmosphere with a log fire. Brilliant service by Rosie, very attentive and incredible roast dinner cooked by Helen and Ashton. Definitely will be coming back

rude young lady behind the bar today when I tried ordering food for the booth I was sat in. quite shocked and spoilt my trip out with my 84 year old dad.
food however and service in our booth was great

Second time here! Fantastic quality of food and service both times. Armando greets his customers personally and is so talented with his Italian dishes. The ambience is wonderful - they even have a log fire. The tiniest niggle ever - I would have liked better quality cutlery but we will definitely return and thoroughly recommend this restaurant.

Fantastic, traditional, rural country pub. The menu is just right for choice. Everything is cooked and prepared from scratch. The chicken and leek pie was beyond fabulous. Chips are plentiful. The Lasagne was delicious and meaty. There is a wonderful local feel to the pub. I highly recommend it.
