I am extremely disappointed with my experience purchasing a car from Tangelo.

The issues started before I had even collected the vehicle. The car was advertised and presented with Michelin tyres, but before collection these had been replaced with budget tyres. This was not what I expected when purchasing the vehicle and immediately raised concerns about the preparation of the car and the accuracy of what was being sold.

Shortly after collecting the vehicle, I noticed a chip in the windscreen almost immediately after leaving the dealership, which I believe was present at the time of sale. Despite raising this promptly, I have been left waiting for a resolution and have had to escalate the matter to The Motor Ombudsman.

The situation became even more concerning when I discovered multiple direct debits had been set up from my bank account for warranty and car care products, resulting in duplicate payments being taken. I had not expected multiple payment arrangements to be established and was shocked to find my payments effectively doubled. I then had to spend my own time contacting the relevant companies to cancel the plans and request refunds. At the time of writing, I am still waiting for those refunds to be be processed.

What should have been a straightforward vehicle purchase has instead involved repeated issues, additional stress, and significant time spent chasing resolutions. Between the tyre substitution, the windscreen issue, and the direct debit problems, my confidence in Tangelo's sales and administration processes has been seriously undermined.

Based on my experience, I would not recommend Tangelo. I hope the company takes these concerns seriously and improves its vehicle preparation, transparency, and customer service for future customers.

From the onset, Fin was extremely helpful, professional and knowledgeable when helping us to look at and then buy a car. He was a great help and put us at ease with his trustworthy mannerisms. The company impressed with their well prepared personnel who represent them in a very positive and knowledgable manner. Finn Clouder was efficient, informed and took the trouble to forge a helpful professional dialogue.
The premises were cool in the current sizzling heat, polished, clean and impressive. The car purchased has been given technical screening with some improvements
Altogether a decent outcome.

Visited Tangelo Exeter. Spoke to sale staff and got all the details about a car they had listed for sale since February 2026. Was told the car was at their Exeter storage facility and they would have to get it for us to see and test drive. Paid the deposit to reserve the car. Appointment for test drive the following day at 12:00.
Received phone call from Tangelo the following morning at 10:30 telling me the car had been sold the previous week but the Plymouth office forgot to remove it from the sales list. Was then told that they 'luckily' had another car almost identical to the one I wanted to buy apart from the colour and the mileage. I was told the milage was double that of the car I had wanted but that as a gesture of good will Tangelo was 'willing' to sell it to me at the same price!!! I responded that this was not a good will gesture, but in fact an insult as the current car had double the mileage of the first car. I was told they needed to check with Plymouth regarding the vehicle inspections etc. I was told I'd get a call the following day .
2 days past and no call. I enquired again. I was told this time that they would reduce the price of the car by £500 of the top asking price (which was £250 MORE than the price we had agreed on). So in essence, a car registered 3 months older, and with 15,000 more miles on the clock, Tangelo felt £250 reduction was doing me a favour!!
Unfair dealer that makes you feel like you've been tricked. Not a nice experience at all. I feel glad I've walked away from this and requested that my reservation fee is returned to me

For what I usually find an unpleasant experience, purchasing a new car through Tangelo at Exeter was smooth, easy and enjoyable. As others have said - I should mention how great Luke is. Really professional, non pushy but able to provide all info that was needed and was engaging in a good way. He is a credit to the company.

My experience was great with Tangelo due to the staff specifically Alex he was always checking up and providing full transparency on all aspects of the car, which made the process so much easier, I would fully recommend them and use them again

Seamless transaction, relaxed sales from start to finish. Luke couldn't of been more helpful. Very impressed with service.

Sadly we bought a car in January 25. For the first week everything was fine. Then we noticed that the performance of the car was getting worse.
Our garage advised us to take it back. Tangelo took it in and gave a courtesy car for the week. After the week was up our car arrived and apparently it had been sat at their garage and absolutely nothing had been done to it!! Totally disgusted.
This car has been nothing but trouble, and finally we have another one now.
I would not recommend this company.

Fantastic service from Luke. He answered all our questions in advance and provided an honest video of the car we wanted to purchase so we could make a decision in advance of a long drive. On the day, Luke and his manager, bent over backwards to get everything sorted for us including preparing the car at short notice for us to drive away that day. Overall, they made buying the car a fantastic experience and the car is exactly as they sold it to us.

Everything very straight forward and to plan. The let down was that my car wasn’t ready as planned for pick up. Obviously the salesman Finn had left the car checkout to the last minute and realised the registration plate was missing. A huge and totally avoidable error as I was five minutes away from picking the vehicle up before I got a call. A customers car must be ready well before appointment. Hopefully lesson learnt.

Excellent customer service

We purchased a used BMW 1 series from the Exeter branch of Tangelo today, and we were impressed with the service we received. Luke was knowledgeable, professional and friendly, and took the time to run through every aspect of the car with us. We were really pleased with the warranty and with the detailed service and preparation of the vehicle. The Tangelo team did a fantastic job of making a 10 year old car look almost brand new!

Great service, we turned up with no appointment to look at a car we had seen online. The car wasnt on the forecourt but they moved quickly to get the car down for us. We were fortunate enough that we were able to get to take the car away the same day with MOT arranged for another time, this has now been carried out. Service from first visit to now has been great and cant fault anyone. No pushing or hard sales!

The Tangelo team were fantastic, I dealt personally with Finn, who was a breath of fresh air! Very knowledgeable, answered all my questions straight away, very patient, never tried to rush me, and even got the car I eventually decided on valeted and washed straight away so I could drive home in it the same day, one of the best traits of Finn, is he listens to what you are saying (and not just giving you the sales spiel)which nowadays is a nice surprise A++++ service

Fantastic service from Tangelo team and Ben specifically, he kept me updated on each stage of the process and sent me a personal walkaround video of the vehicle highlighting it’s features and even picked me up from the train station. Could not recommend enough Tangelo, that is how every second hand dealer should conduct their business. Thank you Tangelo and Ben.

Very easy purchase, car was as advertised. Luke was very easy to chat to and made the buying process very smooth and easy.

Luke made the entire car-buying process smooth, stress-free, and actually enjoyable. He was knowledgeable, patient, and took the time to understand what I was looking for without ever being pushy. He answered all my questions honestly and made sure I felt confident every step of the way. If you’re looking for someone who genuinely cares about finding you the right car and providing great service, I highly recommend Luke!

I've been buying cars, for about 50 years, but rarely have I encountered a Company this good. Sales guys were exceptional, car was immaculate, checks and services, also exceptional.
I wish all car sales places were this good, but their not.

We were very impressed with the way that Tangelo dealt with the purchase of our new car. From start to finish communication was great, all our questions were answered, we bought the car without looking at it first, which was a first for us!
All in all a great experience 😁
