Hidden Defects & Broken Promises!

If you are thinking about buying a car from SWS Car Sales Ltd, stop and read this first. My experience with this company was extremely negative and costly.

Vehicles were sold with hidden defects that were never disclosed at the time of purchase. When I tried to resolve issues after the sale, the company ignored my complaints and the staff were unhelpful and dishonest. Promises made during the sale were completely broken, leaving me with significant financial loss and stress.

Key points for buyers:

Cars may have serious hidden problems.

The company does not respond to complaints or assist after the sale.
Promises during the sale are often false or misleading.

BEWARE: Do thorough research before buying a car here – otherwise, you risk being misled and financially hurt.

I purchased a 2017 Land Rover Discovery Sport from SWS Car Sales. At the time of sale I was informed that the vehicle had recently had the upper timing chain replaced and that the car had been serviced.

After around 9 months of ownership and approximately 12,000 miles of driving, the vehicle developed timing chain related issues. I had the car inspected by an independent Land Rover specialist who advised that the timing chain system required replacement. I had to pay £4,134.12 for the timing chain kit and associated work.

During the same inspection the garage also carried out the required 63,000 mile / 72 month service, which had not been completed despite me being told the vehicle had been serviced prior to sale.

I raised these issues directly with SWS Car Sales and provided the invoices from the independent specialist, however they have declined to assist and advised that I should pursue the matter through the courts if I wish to continue.

I am therefore currently pursuing the matter formally.

I would strongly recommend that anyone purchasing a vehicle ensures that any claimed work or servicing has been independently verified before completing the purchase.

We bought a car from SWS Car Sales Ltd early November 2025.
When going to collect the car it was found that the car only had one key and no owners manuals. They merely shrugged their shoulders and offered no replacements or discount.
7 Weeks later we still not received the new log book from the DVLA, and having contacted Swansea it would appear that they have not informed them of the sale and we now have to complete and send in a completed V62.

This review is based on my personal experience.

I purchased a vehicle from this company in July. After a recall inspection carried out by the main dealer in September, I was advised that the vehicle had previous modifications that were not compliant. I was not informed of this at the time of purchase.

I have attempted to resolve the issue directly with the company, but we have been unable to reach a resolution. The matter is therefore now part of an ongoing small claims court process.

I will update this review once the case has concluded.
