2 bad bikes, 1 terrible company.
I initially backed a campaign via Indiegogo for the Superhuman Photon. Initially, things seemed great as they had a dedicated FB group for supporter feedback and communication. Updates were given at a very reasonable pace and things seemed on track.
Well, they totally blew the estimated September 2024 delivery date. I really didn’t have an issue with this because manufacturing challenges can pop up - though, we’d been given no clue that this was becoming an issue.
Fast-forward to late December 2024, the bikes have been received and Superhuman starts shipping them out. However, the timing was terrible, mine arrived on Xmas Eve after attempting to have to it held several times due to holiday travel. No luck and SH’s customer support still never replied back to my inquiry to get assistance on their side.
This would have been nothing more than a mild annoyance if the bike delivered wasn’t wholly different than the one they advertised during the campaign:
- marketed as a stealth bike, and it was at the conceptual stage, but the battery compartment had a massive increase in size - you can clearly tell it’s an ebike now.
- marketed as having 5-speeds, delivered with only 3
- marketed as 38lbs, but it’s actually 48lbs
- glow effect is laughable
I’ve reached out to Superhuman for a refund, though I doubt I’ll ever receive a response, but thankfully my bank has a one-year window for chargebacks, so that’s the avenue I plan to take. All the while, the owner Rob continues to make the lamest of social media videos in an attempt to be edgy.
Beyond that, I also purchased a Shapeshifter as a gift and that thing delivered in such laughable shape with one of the worst instruction manuals I’ve ever seen. Took me almost a month to have them send out one little part that BROKE (because it was so cheaply produced) during transit. I didn’t gift the embarrassing contraption, I’m just waiting til warmer weather to sell it now.
Superhuman produces typical mass produced poor quality e-bikes that are somehow more expensive than the junk you’d find on Amazon. Look elsewhere.
