Only use business bank accounts if you have lots of time to spend phoning the bank.
After dealing with 3 consultants and my business account manager, I am still waiting for my account to be closed 1 MONTH LATER.
My account manager says the matter is being treated with urgency, however it seems Standard Bank's definition of urgency for business clients' is waiting more than 1 month.
I would strongly caution anyone business person from using Standard Bank's services unless, they have time to spend on numerous calls verifying themselves for 15 minutes each time and getting nowhere. Or having to go to the bank each time something important has to be done, as we did in the 1990s.
Call centre is useless
Most flawed system ever! You cannot call and update a single thing on a home loan! You have to go into a branch?? Oh wait you can do it through the app but only if you have a bank account? Really? So useless. This is seriously not moving with the times. Its better to rather be with a bank that is living in this century,
I will never ever in my life use that…
I will never ever in my life use that bank. It was my first and last time. I opened an account on the 8th of September, I received my first ever salary after a long time. Immediately when I wanted to access my app, I couldn't. I went to the bank, only to find that my account was blocked. I wasn't called or asked anything by Standard, I had to use my money and waste my time to go to the branch where I wasn't assisted. They only just gave me a number of the fraud department and I was taken to one agent to another the whole day.
I wouldn't advice anyone to use standard bank. I need my money that's it
Illegally restricting access to bank account
We have been attempting to gain access to our bank account (held in a Trust account at the Standard Bank). Our Executor has been wholly frustrated/fobbed off with incompetence of the Standard Bank regional management and complaints process. This bank is incompetent and I would strongly recommend investors to think again before using the Standard bank.

you do not reply to any form of communication, you do not have a contact number I can call, "only use email", and then I'm sent in this endless loop of uselessness!
Honestly I'm amazed that you still have clients with this utterly non existent service.
Give me a contact of someone senior who I can speak to with regards to bonds, Companies - I am told none in PE can help. If I do not get help I will take to airing this on radio, social media and any platform I can find!

Incompetence and bureaucracy
It took them 3+ months to have my non-res account open, although I provided all the required documents just in time. But even after that, once I made a trial deposit of 5000 rand, they kept requesting me evidence of the source of funds via three different points of contact, requiring more and more documentation. And as an apotheosis, you are not allowed to have control over your funds via Internet/Mobile Banking, despite the said on the website -- they require all the operations to be carried out via email. Complete disappointment of the non-profesionalism of the bank's employees. I do not recommend this bank for investment.

Do not go into a Standard Bank branch. They play a certain piece of music OVER AND OVER until you go crazy. Literally all day long. It's unbearable being in there for more than 5 minutes.

1 star is too much to consider the service they give.
Absolutley useless company, they think they own their market share because they are a good business - The only reason they are still active is because the dinosaurs that are still alive have all the money, and when their kids get the option they are going to move away. Absolute trash, worst service ive ever had - going to avoid them worse than i do Telkom (hey STD BANK check telkoms market share decline over the last 2 decades - thats a hint at your future revenue).
Took my 8 months to become an authorized payer for a business, 10 in person meetings, registering profiles and then being told i didnt have to.
3 hour waiting periods, no one can converse to anyone.
Literally, the worst business model in RSA. Cannot wait to move all business i can away from you

I am increasingly concerned about the current state of cybersecurity and fraud prevention systems at Standard Bank. It appears that the bank's security infrastructure is outdated and insufficiently equipped to handle the level of sophistication that modern cybercriminals operate with today.
Fraudsters are consistently a step ahead of Standard bank, exploiting their systems and processes. This raises serious questions about how effectively our funds and personal information are being safeguarded by Standard Bank.
It is the responsibility of Standard bank to stay ahead of these fraudsters—not behind. Unfortunately, based on my recent experiences, losses and patterns, it seems Standard Bank has a long way to go in establishing the level of protection that we as clients rightfully expect and deserve.

Today I went to Standard bank in Stellenbosch branch. I wanted help with my banking app and that’s all I wanted. I got help by a Lady, her name is Marlene Daniels. Her service was brilliant and I some how gained my confident and opened up for the ideas she provided. Her personality and experience at her work is extremely helpful and wonderful. I just want to give thanks to her and to Standard bank. Am happy I bank with you🤝
