Distributed energy infrastructure
We’re playing a major part in the emerging consumer-led energy system. Our innovative services and product packages ensure customers can optimise and manage low carbon energy consumption. I can't begin to put into words how awful this company is. This company have cost our charity thousands and thousands of pounds because of their incompetence. I will never use this company again and they need investigating. Getting away with all sorts and THE WORST customer service.

31mins so far waiting for a copy bill…

31mins so far waiting for a copy bill which has not been sent by SSE from June to September, which needs payment. Their customer service team appear to be struggling to provide from their own systems. Seems that training and a reasonable timeframe is particularly lacking, the individual has gone to seek help from a manager. This should be a simple 2 minute process!

Poor company policies.

Poor company policies.
Smart meter appointments rearranged at the last minute and no-attendance for rearranged appointments.
Not able to re-bill accounts correctly for estimated meter readings.
No answer to emails through to helpdesk.
No response to official complaints.
Would strongly avoid and move away from SSE asap.

grous miss conduct during covid

It's to late now to bother contacting your terrible after care team all read from the same script we cannot comment an tell lies the ombudsman is dealing with it now u had ur chance an failed

Disgusting rip off company

Disgusting company, charged approx £2000 for 500 units of electricity, they are making it impossible to change to another supplier , charge what they like, rude telephone staff who are almost impossible to reach, with very poor english,
very very very disappointed , have been trying for a month to change to another company but SSE keep blocking it saying i am in contract for two more years when in fact i have been well over a year out of contract, avoid at all costs !

Honestly worst energy company I have…

Honestly worst energy company I have ever dealt with. Terrible customer service - it almost seems like a joke how incompetent their customer service team is. I couldn’t even list all the problems I’ve had with this company - don’t waste your time and go with another energy provider.

SSE replied to my original review [8 Aug 2025 'Three years waiting'] with promises of further 'help'. Two months later and - despite SSE accepting we owe nothing - we are still getting txt, email and letters reminding us that we owe them a substantial amount of money. Their decision that they 'are satisfied with the level of their customer services' shows just how low they've set the bar. Useless.

Useless big company

Useless big company, they send the most confusing bills. I was paying direct debit approx £250 per quarter I then switched to a better deal and company, they sent me a final bill £1200. They had been charging me incorrectly apparently, absolute joke of a company. Avoid Avoid Avoid!

Mysara Babekr

Mysara Babekr was so helpful on the phone today. He made my visit to SSE so simple with no jargon. I find your automatically generated emails so confusing and receiving simple help is valuable, less time consuming and doesn't generate anxiety this end of the phone. I had a result, guidance regarding future invoices and a link to part of your website which will help me.

WORST UTILITY CO

They have ignored meter readings, they have deleted emails with meter readings without reading them, I sent emails to their complaints dept which were also deleted without being read

Very bad experience 2022.

Very bad experience 2022.

SSE, absolutely useless, good for nothing. They gave me a mental breakdown a few years back. I felt suicidal. No help whatsoever. I am glad I finally got rid of them. They are blood suckers, like ticks, they stick to you and refuse to go. It takes a lot to get them off.

If I could rate them -10, I would.

Never again.

Terrible customer service

Terrible customer service. They have incorrectly given me 2 separate meter numbers (despite having just 1) - bills are incorrect, customer support won’t give me to someone senior to help sort out. This has been going on for nearly 3 years now. Small business owners stay away. Woeful!

SSE is everything that is wrong with…

SSE is everything that is wrong with the UK.

Its a show of massive companies control and power over people.

Forced in to new builds as the supplier, they are just constant problems.

Ive been charged £40 because their technician lied about attending.

They are constantly losing heat. At least 9 times in the last year.

Its quite pathetic really, the customer service are useless.

Companies like this should be close and their CEOs be prosecuted.

after month of overcharging me had to report to the ombudsman received an apology and a small rebate, after i left them ,today received another bill for £125 worst energy company ever ,im paying british gas £350 a quarter less than this shower ,

Multiple estimated bills

Multiple estimated bills, even though I gave them the readings. Can't get through on the phone. Messages through the website go unanswered. As a business customer, paying someone to continually try and contact SSC and sort this out is costing me money.

After more than 2 years of involving…

After more than 2 years involving the ombudsman trying to resolve the issues we had with SSE and moving our account with EDF energy, we now receive a final notice for overdue payment amounting to £83.85. The issue arose during a time (6 months) when SSE was providing electricity for 3 light bulbs and we received horrendous electricity bills. It was finally agreed they would give us a refund. And so they did. Now 4 years trying to get rid of them they tell us we still have a debt! AVOID THIS COMPANY.

Exceptional Customer Service

I spoke with Nwokedi Obinna at SSE today and the service was excellent. He was extremely helpful, patient, and took the time to resolve all of my queries in full. His professionalism and willingness to go the extra mile made the whole experience smooth and stress-free. Fantastic customer service – thank you Obinna!
