Lowball offer on device condition
I completed the survey, honestly describing the phone according to the questions asked. There is one small scratch on the front screen, but other than that it is immaculate, so I described it as "some signs of use", which is one of their drop-down options. Was given an estimated value of £563, so sent the phone in to them. They inspected it, claimed that there was damage to the screen and edges, and reduced the guaranteed value to £447. Waste of time sending it in, just to be given a lowball offer on a spurious assessment of its condition.

Unfortunately the phone was declared as good/barely used and that was what the initial quote was based on. As you mentioned there was wear on the screen and so this would fall under the definition of 'some signs of use' and so that was the final value offered.
I can see you rejected our offer and the phone was retuned for free and was delivered yesterday.

Having recently sold a phone through Spring and received excellent service , I decided to purchase a refurbished iPhone 10 to replace one I brought from another company that I had to return due to the condition off their excellent condition phone.
The one I purchased from Spring arrived quickly and was in as new condition with a battery health of 100% , it updated to iOS 17 with no issues , no sim tray pin included which was not a problem for me but perhaps could be added as an option in the checkout process.

Good quick service, shame about the large drop in value
Sold an iPhone 14 pro max in good condition, so had some minor wear and tear. Apple store offered £630 gift card for trade in. Spring quoted £678 online but only offered £578 after sending in. If the condition rating is so prescriptive maybe it should be detailed in the selling phase of the process to asses the phone a near 20% drop in value is quite harsh.

We do try to make our condition ratings clear on our website and we ask multiple questions about condition with definitions and pictures available in our help articles.
It looks like you came to us through a comparison website and their condition ratings are defined on their site. The phone was declared as good but unfortunately the screen had some significant scratching (which can be see on the pictures you uploaded before sending in the phone). This does unfortunately devalue a phone.
I hope this helps explain the reason for the change in value. Quick sale, knocked price
Sale was quick. The device was knocked down on price, it was used and there was wear and tear but fully functional. I was surprised to be knocked down so much for something I couldn’t see even in the evidence pictures that were provided.

Looks like the main wear was on the screen which does impact the value unfortunately. The pictures in your Spring account are the pictures you uploaded. There is some visible wear on the screen in them. But the back and sides were in good condition.
I hope this helps explain the reasons for the change in value. And I also hope it was clear that you could also ask for a free return but I can see you accepted the final value and the money was withdrawn on 1st November.

Thoroughly satisfied. Spring were offering the best value based on the condition of my phone. Pouch arrived 2 days after I filled in the details, with comprehensive instructions and advice about taking photos etc. I packaged up the phone and sent it the same day, (Prepaid 24hr Royal Mail tracked label sent in the pouch) within 24 hours the tech review had been done and the guaranteed value (the same value as offered) was in my bank. Would highly recommend and definitely will be using again.

Sent them a brand new phone
Sent them a brand new phone. They initially offered £630, then when I got the report they said everything was perfect apart from the glass was “slightly used” which is a complete lie. From just this one thing they reduced their offer all the way down to £473. Took the money anyway because I need it but won’t be selling with spring again.

Looks like the device wasn't brand new as it had 26 battery cycles but obviously hadn't been used for too long. The back and frame were noted as very good but there were two small but deep scratches on the screen glass. Unfortunately this does devalue a device as the screen needs to be unscratched to rehome it as everyone wants a perfect screen!
We do offer free, fast returns but I can see that you've withdrawn the money.

Thank you for the 3 stars. It looks like the final value was reduced as the phone did have some moderate damage (which revealed the metal of the frame) which means we couldn't pay the initial good price for the item.
We do offer free returns but I can see you chose to accept and the money was paid to you.
