Use good 3rd party sellers for now
Ordering direct now seems to be impossible and not sure if their web-site has been compromised. I bought through 3rd party seller Dolphin Fitness as they have very good TrustPilot reviews. Stocked up on 4 of the larger bottles which should hopefully last me for a year or two. I had poor experience ordering from Amazon as was sent smaller size bottles than I paid for. Got quick refund but lost confidence in using Amazon to buy. Hopefully Somersets will sort out their current issues soon. I think it would be better for them to only sell from good 3rd party companies like Dolphin. I’ve had concerns for a long time about their online website with very poor payment security. They should stick to what they are best at which is making the best shaving oils on the market. Let others deal with the shipping logistics that hopefully that will help with fulfilling orders quickly and efficiently. It’s very annoying that the big companies like Gillette etc. have so much of the market where imo Somersets shaving oils are much better and use far less packaging.
No delivery. no response.
Like others, I have been a customer for many years (20+).
Order has not arrived after almost a month. 3 emails unanswered. I looked here to see if others had the same problem and here we all are!
It's a small business as far I I know, that I have always been keen to support; I can understand and forgive illness emergency of course, but they do need to communicate.
I've been patient and waited almost a month.
I will never be back and I no longer recommend them.

If I could give them zero stars I would. Been using this company for several years without a problem. As previous reviews there is obviously a big problem. No order arrived, no emails answered and phone disconnected.
Have to mark it down as a loss.
However I did get from Amazon, they still have stock. Just had to pay again !!
Somersets need to be honest and stop taking orders if they are not fulfilling.

As with other reviews, I have had the same problem. Although in the past my orders came through within 5 to 7 days at the longest, I have now been waiting nearly 2 weeks still no delivery. I have emailed them but no reply. Unable to find a contact number as the one on their website no longer works. It does look as though they are going into administration, such a shame as I have been ordering their shaving oil for many years.
A very odd set up
I managed to track down their phone number, (not the one on their website) to complain about non delivery after three weeks. The call was answered by someone who was obviously in poor health who, when he could speak, said there was a problem with the ordering system, had no idea when the order would be delivered, but that it would be, and said customers had not been charged. When challenged he put the phone down.

Similar to other posters. Ordered my usual shaving oil on 20 July, no response after the initial order confirmation email.
As with other posters, my credit card has not been charged. Also no response to follow up emails.
I assume they have ceased trading, which is a shame, I think I have been ordering from Somersets for about 25 years !

Happy to take your money when placing an order but that's it - no delivery ever arrives. Two months after placing an order, nothing. No delivery, no response to repeated emails to orders@ and davidsomerset@ to find out where my order is, to date, I've had no communication. This company is a sham - do NOT buy anything from them.
Somersets shaving Oil
I have been using Somersets shaving oil and products since they started in the early 1990s. Originally avaialble ffom Sainsburys but they stopped stocking them (although Somersets website claims Sainsbury's still sell them). Therefore, for years now I have been ordering online but for the past couple of years I have had to chase them for my orders. My last order was nearly a month ago and still waiting for delivery, despite a couple of emails sent to them which have not been acknowledged. i will not order again. Pity, because the products are great, but the custmer service is no-existent.
No longer trading?
I've been a loyal David Somersets customer for well over 20 years. Placed an order on 2nd July but received nothing and no response to follow-up emails.
The website certificate expired but is now replaced with one from williamsandhill dot com which is clearly wrong and why people are getting warnings about accessing the Somersets site.
No idea what's going on but it's probably best to avoid for now at least.
I don't think my credit card (only used for online shopping) has been charged but it was used fraudulently two weeks after placing the order. Obviously that could just be coincidental be aware.
Insecure site and looks like they've ceased trading
I've always liked their products but I agree, it looks like they may have gone bust. Or worse, maybe somebody hi-jacked their website? Pleased to hear from Lacrimosa that they didn't take payment, but their website is insecure (not https://) so risky to enter card details. That Brighton phone number is suspicious as the company is/was in Oxfordshire. Landys Chemist in London NW has some Somerset products in stock but only for callers to their shop.
Money for nothing
Mens moisturiser spf15. Like the product and previously bought it via the ethical superstore. I bought 4 x Moisturiser direct from Somersets.com this time. 5 weeks later nothing has arrived. I have emailed 4 time, no response. Shame they can't reply to their "contact us" email address. I won't be buying it again
A fantastic product, but impossible to purchase.
A fantastic product, but very hard to find in shops. Ordering on-line looked to be no problem, but almost a month later nothing has been sent yet. The company doesn’t respond to mails, the phone number on the website seems to be disconnected. The parent company (Collco Trading Ltd.) Found a different phone number online, and the person I spoke to told me they had “issues with their payment system”. I hope this isn’t a euphemism for: we’re bankrupt. Their product would be truly missed.
Ceased trading?
My partner has used Somersets shaving oil for years and (like many!) swears by it, but this is a heads up for those thinking of ordering direct from Somersets. The last time I successfully ordered from them was in 2023. I placed new order with them recently, in May 2025. All appeared fine at first. I received an email confirming my order as usual. Then... nothing. Weeks later, Somersets have not responded to my email enquiring about my order, and the (Brighton area code) phone number on their website has been disconnected.
On the plus side, no payment appears to have been taken.
I have to assume that Somersets have ceased trading? That being so, we're sorry to see them go, but they should close their online shop.
EDIT, JULY 2025: Hiya AB. Yes, very obviously an insecure site now, and flagged as such by my browser, but that’s a more recent development. There were no such red flags back in May. I got a couple of the shaving oils off eBay instead, but expect that’ll be the last time. Pity!
