They applied for government funding for my elderly mum and came to install loft insulation and upgrade her heating controls. When the worker arrived, he claimed they wouldn’t be able to reinstall the loft boards after insulating. I told him not to go ahead if they couldn’t put the boards back.
He later said he'd spoken to his boss and was told the boards would be replaced. Then he brought paperwork for me to sign stating the job was completed — even though the boards had not been put back!
Thankfully, I checked the loft before signing. When I pointed it out, he said they’d return the next day to finish the job. I refused to sign it until they came back to reinstall the boards. That was on 5th August 2025, and I’m still waiting.
To make matters worse, one of the new TRVs they installed isn’t working — the radiator doesn’t get hot. I’ve called multiple times, emailed, and even sent a formal complaint giving them time to resolve the issue. Nothing has been done. Someone came to inspect the work and the extractor fan fitting failed. I was told they would need to come to rectify it and we are still waiting on that.
This company has been completely unresponsive and unreliable. I do not recommend trusting them with any work, especially for vulnerable people like the elderly.
I will update my review if or when all my issues are resolved.

We would like to clarify a few points regarding the work carried out:
Loft boards: The reinstallation of loft boards is not a required part of this government scheme. At Smart Way Energy, we often put boards back as a courtesy for homeowners where it is safe to do so. In this particular case, when our team attempted to reinstall the boards, it was deemed unsafe due to potential risks, including fire hazards or exposure to insulation materials. Safety is always our priority, and we cannot compromise on that.
TRVs and other issues: We take all reports of malfunctioning heating controls seriously. Once we have your full details, someone from our team will contact you to arrange a proper inspection and resolution.
Awful company do not use
Awful company do not use. First everything seemed great and will give credit to heating company. But the instalation is horrendous. First group lovely boys worked so hard even though worried and I question about not testing for Asbestos this 1973 build. So fibers everywhere jn the house. 2nd group came in to refit boards, ruined my personal items threw my boxes. All across the loft broke many items left instalation piles up to ceiling covering my personal items in instalation. I have many videos. I myself had to spend three days unpaid sorting this out which made me ill. Heavy boards trying to lift as they had been dumped. I have message the the company every few days and they ignore me or say they will come back and don't. They dont answers calls texts or emails. I am reporting them to the trading standards and will look for the ECO4 funding to be removed as this disgusting customer service.
Please do not try to put this me you totally know what u have done and have ignored the videos and messages. I have the evidence to what you have done. I wrote this very upset hence the typing mistakes. This shows u reply this but won't reply to what you did in my property. As I said u should not be used and I'm happy to share my videos live on this site. I have escalated my complaint now so this will be fully investigated. All I asked was someone to make contact in email but this is something you couldn't do. You have my fully concerns and complaint in your what's apps that have been acknowledged but never acted on. I wanted a reply in email as I don't trust u tbh but obviously d9nt care what u do in people's property ls.
Anyone reading this I'm more than happy to share all the videos.. honestly do not use them u will regret like I do

Absolute disaster - do not trust
Abysmal service and communication. Serious GDPR concerns.
The surveyor spent over two hours drawing and taking pictures of the inside of my house, only to be told that it didn't qualify as we have a room under the roof. If that is a criterion, they could have checked this over the phone instead of sending someone out and wasting my time.
They did not call to update me on the outcome, even though they made the decision the next day. I called after waiting three weeks with no response.
Also a major concern that the surveyor took pictures that included myself and my children without permission, along with other behavioural red flags that made us very uncomfortable.
Don't even bother - not worth it!

To be clear, our surveyor attended your property to assess whether it could qualify for any scheme — it didn’t, and once that decision is made, there’s not much more we can do. All documents and photos taken during the survey are securely discarded for ineligible properties, and only your name, postcode, and contact number are retained temporarily until the end of the month.
We understand you’re disappointed that your property didn’t qualify, but please don’t make false accusations about our surveyors. They are there to measure and assess the property — not to take photos of children. Any children present were purely incidental and never the focus of any photographs. Accusing our team of something like that is serious, inappropriate, and completely unfounded.
We also apologise for the delay in communication. Ideally, our telesales team should have followed up, but you did speak to Harry and were informed of the outcome. We hope this clears up any misunderstandings and sets the record straight.

I chose them as they were local to me .
But how wrong was I they came from Birmingham and complained about the distance they had to travel to come to me.
I don't even want to leave 1 star as they don't deserve any
