I bought the cedar-sauna-wooden-outdoor-sauna-rooms and it is great. Putting it together is not a one person job but it was easy to assemble. James from the company was there to help me along the way. My heater malfunctioned after a few months and James from customer service was there to help trouble shoot. We we could not fix it I was sent a new stove and everything works great again. Customer service has been excellent and it’s so nice to buy from a company that stands behind their products. I would recommend this to a friend

James at Smartmak is such a pleasure to work with. He helped me get my clients sauna working. Great company , and really appreciate all they have done. You won’t regret buying anything from here. Their product is great. Thanks again James. Aloha!

Sauna's are a total scam. It's a fake Chinese company and they post fake reviews. All the reviews here giving positive feedback all fake reviews.

I bought a $8,000 Sauna. Nothing came 45 days later.
Started looking deeper in website and emailed customer service.

They state they are in England but the customer service person who wrote back was Chinese. They have no phone number. Why is a Chinese guy the only customer service person for a UK company and wesbite? Whole thing a SCAM.
Ironically, his last name was part of the website name.

There is no way they are shipping 1500Lbs from the UK. They are not incorporated in the USA in any state. They have NO warehouses.

Google smartmakshop reviews you will see a YouTube video some guy made saying it's a SCAM as well

Their Scam is this: They will tell you shipping takes 60-75 days...

Then it never comes--You have ONLY 60-90 days to dispute a charge on your credit card, that's the whole scam. Then you can't dispute it.

They even have a fake shipping tracking, confirmation, and fake receiving confirmation.

The whole dam thing is a GIANT SCAM.

I CALLED MY CREDIT COMPANY TO DISPUTE THE CHARGE!!

NOTE: make sure the company you buy from has an address in the USA and a phone number you can call in USA

I received it in good condition. I did used it twice and its good. The only problem is the smell of the plastic. Maybe overtime the smell would go away. It is easy to set up too.

The one thing I was not happy with the packaging one of the corners of the side pieces was broken. I felt like it was to much hassle to return. Overall I am happy with the purchase other than the broken pieces as it does not impact the functionality of the unit.

I purchased one of their pop up saunas, which I love, but after 6 months it wouldn't turn on anymore. I sent them an email, and within the hour they responded asking what my issue was, and didn't hesitate to offer to fix it. They mailed me a brand new computer board and "how to" video set up the same day!
I use my sauna everyday for health and relaxation purposes. I've had 3 other Saunas and this one is by far one of the best. It heats up quickly, stays at about 132-136. It is comfortable and convenient.

i cant begin to explain my appreciation for the team at smartmak. i made the mistake of purchasing an outdoor sauna without measuring or even fully consulting with the wife. when i asked for a refund 2 weeks later they didnt hesitate to give it to me. in 2 days the full sale price was refunded. i cant wait to finish the platform and widen the area to accommodate the big setup in the spring. again, thank you smartmak!

We had ordered a sauna in April 2023. They did quote us 60 to 70 days for delivery however, it was a lot longer than that. We had a couple issues with shipment and delivery. However, they were very responsive on the email and apologetic. They sent us the missing parts quickly and we were able to assemble it by mid October.
The sauna itself is really great!
It is made out of high-quality materials and was fairly easy to put together ourselves.
It is very visually pleasing and looks great in my backyard. I can’t wait to use it every day !

Overall I had a pretty good experience with Smartmak. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars was because there was mistake with my order. I ordered a porch and my sauna didn’t come with one. I emailed James and he responded right away and refunded me no questions asked. I read all the previous reviews for the first time about two months into waiting for my sauna and freaked out a bit, but I was quickly reassured by James via email. He provided an accurate estimate of the arrival to the port and a tracking number when I asked. I am happy with the quality of the sauna and luckily I didn’t have any damage with delivery. I also can’t speak to the electric stove but my wood burning stove works great and installed pretty easily. Though I can’t compare them to other manufacturers out there, for the price and responsive customer service, I would personally recommend Smartmak. I will add however that there does seem to be a real issue with possible delays given that it’s shipping from china. And also the directions aren’t great but I was able to figure out with YouTube vids and extra directions from James mak.

The sauna received from Smartmak Shop was damaged with broken wood frame parts and gouges in the wood. James Mak offered to replace it and then defaulted on his commitment. Off to court to recover the cost of this investment. I would not purchase from this company ever.

We are in the US and ordered a barrel sauna from Smartmakshop. We had the same experience as others with the European electrical for the controller and heater. We had 3 electricians come out and no one wants to wire it as it is not meet United States specifications. Do not purchase from them, you will regret it. I would suggest only buying from a US company.

Smartmak electrical controllers are not built or rated for the US. We have had three electricians come out and none of them will install this equipment. We have raised this issue to Smartmak and all they will do is refund us $300. This has been a disaster.

We bought our sauna online reading good reviews of the product. When we received the product at our home it came in four weeks later than promised it came in over 50 pieces with no directions, and nothing was labeled. The roof system was not as we ordered. We ordered a composite roof and a shingle roof was delivered, that also leaked water. There was no way to stop the water so we had to put a metal roof on the sauna, which is additional costs. The customer service was terrible; they gave us no directions. They sent us a YouTube video of a different kind of sauna being put together. There were no wiring instructions on any of the heater. Heater was over rated for the control box which blew the panel. This is a terrible product. If we could go back, we would never have used this company and we wouldn’t recommend them to anybody. It’s been a terrible experience and we were completely taken by Smartmak Sauna.

Similar experience to others. The sauna barrel is of reasonable quality and we got it together in less than five hours. The heater is a European model that will not work with US three wire 220/240 V wiring. James at Smartmak was originally responsive sending videos that would show how to do the wiring, but always for different compatible models, not the 400V model we got. Things went dark now for a couple weeks. Hopefully they will aceept a return and replace the heater, very frustrating.

Update 4/29: Company stole my photos and never sent replacement wood. Scammers.

EDIT: 2.5.23 Update- I have finished putting sauna together, and it is pretty awesome. I am upgrading the review to 4 stars. I ran out of some wood details, and emailed Smartmakshop and they are sending me more at no charge. The sauna is awesome. Heats very well. Looks really good. I would give 5 stars, but the quality of the wood is not quite there. Also, to the guy having trouble with his heater- If you are reading this, open the panel of your heater (turn off breaker first) - There is a small reset button under there. Push is HARD. Until it makes an audible click. Also, find a new electrician.

Ok, honest review- Wife and I started to worry after reading these reviews, so I wanted to add my two cents. This is a legit site. I give it three stars for the following reasons: - Shipping was a mystery until we started freaking out. Then, they sent us proof, which looked fake. Finally arrived, and mostly ok. The wood is hemlock, as promised. The quality is not perfect, but it will do. The sauna rocks came out of their box during shipping, and scratched the plexiglass and wood a bit. There was no drain board, which was in their instructions. The instructions lacked info on adding the roof (I watched a youtube video from another sauna mfg)- Other than that, some scuffs and slight damage/scratches from the shipping occurred. Overall, we are happy with the sauna, but if we could do it again, we might just pay more and go with Almost Heaven or another US based company. However, we now have a decent sauna that looks pretty good and once the electrician shows up, hopefully works good. One more thing- "Wireless" on their site means the heater that cannot connect to any wires... not the typical US meaning WIFI-

This company is a scam site. They are a company based in China and stole our own photos as well as those of literally all the sauna manufacturers you can think of. They are shameless about intellectual property rights and do not care about stealing people.

They steal your photo, your website copy and uses the content to advertise a copy of the same product at half the price. Meaning that people shopping now come to see and complain they found the same product at half the price. Little do they know they are actually dealing with a scam company.

If you're considering buying from them, please think twice. Avoid at all cost.

Today is the 100th day since I purchased a barrel sauna that was promised to arrive, door to door in “30 to 35 days”. After that time frame lapsed I was told that was the delivery time and that they needed 30 days to build it, of course this is not the case, it is a delay tactic.

I have all of the screen shots, pictures and emails, which are many, of being lied to, including that my sauna would be coming from Hawaii. I was just told that their “shipping company” has reached out to me. I have not talked to a shipping company about this. I received a call from a lady that came up on my caller ID as SCAM. The woman spoke very broken English, and she said they had not received my product because the shipping container had not been unloaded from the ship yet. I looked back on the Bill of Lading, which I’m not sure is even real, and the ship that my purchase was supposedly on had left California to head back to China 14 days prior to my checking.

The person I am communicating with via email is supposedly a James Mak. I’ve already told this person, who has been lying to me, that I want my money refunded and not their product. They are avoiding this like crazy. Notice on their website that you cannot leave a review? They have all 5 star except for two that at 4 star. But no where to leave one. I’m not sure I bought from an actual company or a Chinese scam site. I was very excited to receive the Sauna, now I just want my money back so I can buy from a real company. Either way, do not purchase from this site.

My original purchase date was July 15, 2022. Order #SM511068712. It was for a Smartmak Traditional Panoramic Barrel Sauna x1. A Hemlock / Electric Heating. The biggest they make for that type of sauna. Purchase price was $7,927.03, which consisted of $7359.08 purchase price, $200.00 shipping cost, and a $367.95 tip. Naturally, you pay the tip to receive preferred service. That was a mistake to do as well.

I put all my information in here so that when “James Mak” receives the email from this review site, and every other review site I will visit, he will know that I have been true to my word about the processes I will be taking to make myself whole financially, and follow through with making sure smartmakshop.com will be red flagged, at least in the United States.

UPDATE 11.3.22 - I had to lower it again to 1 Star as they have continued to lie and make excuses. They also admitted they do not allow honest reviews on their website.

UPDATE 11.2.22 - Smartmak Outdoor Barrel Sauna With Glass Window, Red Cedar 4-6 People. Regular price $5,599.00 USD

Finally received the product after 133 Days. I unpacked it from the crate last night and everything appears to be in order. There does appear to be some issues with the workmanship and quality of the material but I will not fully know until I put it together over the next week. Some of the wood is definitely not cedar (maybe pine or hemlock?).

I have over 60 emails between myself and Smartmak, I would suggest emailing Summer Yao -smartmak1 @smartmak .cn , she was by far the most helpful, even though she fibbed multiple times about when I would receive my order, not sure if this is on purpose or they just don't know.

I have 4 documented instances (going back to early September) where they told me I would receive the crate within 7-10 days and then they had to modify. I finally received it on October 31.

They never once initiated contact with me to be open and transparent about delays, I always had to contact them and ask. It is difficult to clearly communicate due to to the language barrier. I don't mind this at all I was just looking for a clear timeline which they never gave.

Their US shipper Qifan Logistics was great to work with. Grace was kind and transparent.

Overall - it's a mixed bag, they did end up giving me a discount (they promised more and we will see if they follow through) due to delays but I would have rather had use of the sauna for the last 2+ months than a credit.

Lastly, you cannot leave a review on their website, I have asked multiple times. I would be very skeptical of reviews that you see, particularly if they appear to be written with a translation app.

They are not a scam but buyer beware.

Do not order from Smartmakshop or any of it's affiliate websites. Still not sure if it is a scam or not but I have given them so many chances to give me an honest response to where my product is that I paid $5K for. They have lied several times about it being aboard ships and then when the ships lands and unloads at port they give me a new landing date. It has been over 110 days since my order. don't waste your time.

This website is fraudulent. They stole our product photos, copy, and even our reviews. Do not purchase from this website!
