Terrible customer service
This is the 3rd time my call has been cancelled, broken down van, engineer held up and then they didn’t have the correct materials. Stayed in on a bank holiday, called in morning to confirm they were coming and was told yes, then at 3.20om we received an email to advise the engineer could not make it. Not even a phone call. No management to speak to and I am having to pay and take car elsewhere to get charged !
Started the process around two months ago and still not complete.
Avoid at all costs
I recently purchased my first EV and as part of the deal, Audi included Ohme home charger. Ohme then contracted out the installation of the charger to the company Smarter Utility. Do not be fooled by the name, that is where their intelligence begins and ends i’m afraid. I waited 3 months for them to get in touch and gave them the benefit of the doubt initially as I was not receiving my car until the end of January. On the 6th January, I filled out a home survey for the charger installation, as requested by Ohme, which was then sent to the installer. I tried emailing various times but never received a reply. Ohme the chased up Smarter Utility several times but still no contact. When I eventually managed to get the company on the phone, the staff were incredibly rude, condescending and altogether completely incompetent. They refused to provide me with an installation date and kept stating that I live too far away (I live in the same country they do). Eventually enough was enough and I challenged Ohme to provide me with a different installer. They then paired me with Bibbys, a Liverpool based company who immediately contacted me, set a date for installation and have now installed my new charger all in the space of 8 days. I cannot stress enough that if you happen to be paired with Smarter Utility as a EV installer, immediately contact your EV charger company and ask for Bibbys over Smarter Utility, it will save you a lot of time and stress.

Friendly and competent installer
Friendly and competent installer. Can't fault the installation. As an electrical engineer, I was very specific about where I wanted the charger fitted and how the cable was to be run and none of this was a problem on the day.
Ohme charger. I was happy with the whole process. The self survey is pretty comprehensive but could be tricky to fill in for some less technical persons, but there is an option to have a physical survey carried out.
The installation of my Home Ohme E pod…
The installation of my Home Ohme E pod Smart charger was completed by the Smarter Utility engineer Matt in accordance with our requirements and in line with the specification given by Ohme.
The work was undertaken on time in a competent manner.
Options for routing the wiring and siting the charger to best suit our house layout were discussed and implemented.
Matt worked within the timescale given, commissioned the charger properly and left a clean worksite.

On time. Quick, efficient and professional service. I would trust Smarter Utility in recommending them to my family and friends!
Communication from head office to engineer would be a wee improvement, as in a call to customer “We are on the way to you”
OHME via Cupra
I had an OHME Home Pro charger installed via the Cupra promotion. I believe the work was carried out by a local subcontractor, work was carried out to a high standard with minimal disruption. Installer was friendly and knowledgeable.

From booking my charger from Ohme to Smarter Utility contacting me was really quick, I arranged an installation date and Engineer turned up on time on the day.
He went over the installation process before he started and was quick and efficient after he completed work he went over everything with me thanks again Kieran for a hassle free install

Home survey and installation were very good.Same installation engineer did both.

The engineer who installed ours did a great job. He took the time to run the cable so that it was well concealed and not visible from the front of our house. Very happy with the job done. Turned up when they said they would and did a great install.

THE PRIOR LENGTH OF CHAIN NEEDS TO BE SHORTENED!

The poor communication and lack of…
The poor communication and lack of attention to customer needs put me off. When I finally obtained a date for installation ( only after going to OHME) everything went ok and the subbie who installed the charger was good. However I expect a quicker response and better communication for what was a simple installation
Annoying app
The installation was fine but the app is rather annoying. The car charging is managed by Octopus but the Ohme app doesn’t seem to understand that and keeps sending messages that the car is not charging.
The process from when we ordered…
The process from when we ordered through Ohme to have contact with Smarter Utility was very slow. It wasn’t until I chased up the installation, that we were able to book a date for fitting. On the day, we were told we would be contacted ahead of the engineer arriving which did not happen. I then had to phone to find out if he was still coming. When the engineer did finally arrive, he was not the most helpful or friendly and we ended up having the apps to support the charger set up wrong. We came to charger for the first time we had uninstall the apps, and redo it ourselves. The whole process was unnecessarily difficult. It’s unfortunate as I’m not one to write reviews, let alone negative ones however I wanted to share our experience so others don’t receive the same.

EV charger installed
Very quickly contacted us to advise of installation date and kept to the time and date with no issues.
The electrician couldn't have been any nicer. Very pleasant and informative and made no mess whatsoever 10 out of 10
Fixed in ten minutes!
When Storm Eowyn knocked out our two year old solar power system, our installer was worse than useless and we eventually had to look elsewhere for help. We found Smarter Utility on Check-a-Trade and initially they were very helpful. Then we requested an appointment for the engineer to call & they went quiet. After a few days, I contacted them through their own website & it turned out that they had had a problem with logging into Check-a-Trade, and of course didn't have direct contact details for us. As soon as we got in touch they sent David out & the issue was fixed in ten minutes. He charged us only for his transport and the system has been running perfectly since. Definitely recommend them, but contact them by email or phone, not through Check-a-Trade!
Exceeded expectations
We had our charger installation completed today on schedule. Communication beforehand was good and we were given exactly the charger location and wiring layout that we requested.
The installer Stuart was excellent. Friendly, efficient and installed everything neatly and quickly. Work was completed the same day and the house, garage and driveway were all left clean and tidy.
I would happily recommend Smarter Utility to friends and family.
