Verplichte verzekering is een verdienmodel
Pas in een latere fase van de offerteaanvraag wordt duidelijk dat er een verplichte verzekering is van maar liefst 15 euro per maand - wat meer is dan de inboedelverzekering voor een heel huis. Op de site wordt aangegeven dat als je je kunt aantonen dat je spullen al verzekerd zijn, de verplichte verzekering vervalt. Ik stuur dus contract en polisblad van mijn inboedelverzekering mee, maar bij aankomst bij Shurgard wordt aangegeven dat mijn verzekering door Shurgard niet wordt geaccepteerd, want 'er staat tijdelijke opslag buitenshuis' en niet 'voor onbepaalde tijd' én de verzekering moet allrisk zijn. Terwijl dezelfde spullen thuis dus níet allrisk verzekerd zijn. Samen met de belachelijk hoge prijs van de verplichte verzekering heeft dit alle schijn van een verdienmodel. Zonde, want de rest van de service is allemaal prima geregeld.
