Ordered Mrs sinkins dianthus from shire. Excellent service, plants arrived in good condition, better than expected, good size, will order again.

Received viola tricolor and viola Rebecca 2 Feb 2026. Noticed daily leaf rot. Realized over next few days both plants were infested with mealybug.
Horrified.
Have thrown away pots and removed as much infestation physically as possible, treated with safe systemic compound and am trying to damage limit.
SO glad I hadn't put them in the garden near other plants.

order on time -- plants in good condition -- not cheap but i wanted unusual ones

Order delivered to the incorrect address. Implied I was lying and that I should go and find them myself as the address the order was delivered to was "around the corner".
The address is not "around the corner"!! What the condition of these plants woudld be after days in 30+ degree heat left in a randoms persons driveway I dread to know. Will not be using again as I hoped as the business was in my post code area it would be less hassle how wrong was I.

The plants that arrived were not as described so I emailed to query them. The reply I received was aggressive and rude and treated me like an idiot. There are plenty of good nurseries to buy from so avoid this place, they don’t deserve your business. I wish I’d looked here at other reviews before ordering from them.

Received 4 badly packaged plants today. Soil everywhere but in the pot!, snapped stems and crushed leaves. The viola was actually just a single plug plant plonked into a 9cm pot and not rooted at all which makes it the most expensive plug plant ever! Cannot get through to Shire by phone so have emailed but looking at previous poor reviews I doubt I will receive a reply. They have no mention of how to proceed with order issues on their website. If you are going to sell plants online from your family run nursery then you need to be equipped to do so but they appear to be under the illusion that not answering the phone because they are busy with the plants and do everything themselves is something to be proud of. That might make your family proud Shire but it doesn't cut it with disgruntled customers trying to resolve a problem with damaged plants. I can see from reviews on this site and my own experience that you deal with these problems by ignoring them! You need to read up on the Consumer Services Act 2015. Poor plants and appalling customer service mean I won't be wasting any more money with you. It's pretty clear from the way you've ignored all previous negative reviews on Trustpilot however that you couldn't care less about customer retention. What goes around comes around though!

I have some problems with eight of the plants. All four plant that were described as white are in fact pink! Out of a set of six plants of a different variety just two have started to grow. This order was placed in February 2025. I have contacted Shire and got a response to wait until end of April to see if they would have any signs of growth . I have sent emails to them that have been answered, but since the one sent on 26 April 2025 - no answer in spite of several follow up emails. Impossible to make contact by telephone.
Thought they came across as a reasonable company, but it turns out they are as disinterested as possible. Some am out of pocket by at least £39.20
Just beware of buying plants from them, they are not at all concerned

one of the plants i recieved was clearly sick and dying but despite me supplying photographic evidence they claimed it was healthy and refused to pay for the return postage, So im having to pay to return the plant to them,
I would avoid buying from them.

Plants arrived quickly and were protectively packaged (in recyclable plastic and cardboard). They look very healthy and came with comprehensive care instructions. It's nice to be able to get something different from what I'd find in the local garden centres. I have no doubt that they will do very well.

What a gem! was looking for a hard to find White Catanache, found here as well as several other unusual plants and shrubs. All plants have got comprehensive description of where they are from, growing habit and conditions needed to thrive. The prices are very good, all pants supplies in 9cm pots but good size plants in them. Normally worry about ordering online but not with Shire plants! Plants sent in custom made protective modules which I have never seen before, arrived well watered and in in great condition. Enclosed was an informative fact sheet with instructions which was useful. Planted all in my garden and they are all doing well. Very helpful with any enquiries. Can tell the Matt and Emma are passionate about plants and their business, so lovely to find a family run nursery that does online ordering. Would definitely recommend and will be buying from them again.

I usually grow night scented stocks from seed, sowing in pots outdoors from the beginning of April. This year, for some reason, no plants developed at all. June came and we were going to be without night time fragrance on the warm evenings of July and August. I looked online and phlox was recommended so I then looked for suppliers. For no particular reason I chose Shire Plants. I had never ordered plants online before so I was a bit worried that they might get squashed or otherwise damaged in transit. However when they arrived I found the packaging system to be really rather clever and they were in very good condition. I've planted them and given them lots of water but it's a bit early to say how they'll do. I really enjoy looking for bargain price plants outside the supermarkets and I'll be doing that again next year but for specific requirements I'll certainly be ordering from Shire again.

Extremely disappointed with my experience with Shire Plants. Bought from them as I prefer to use smaller local businesses and the reviews on here seemed mainly very positive. My plants arrived not looking very healthy or large but it was early in Spring so I planted them assuming that they would start to put on growth. Since then only 5 of the 14 plants have survived and 3 of those look fairly feeble. I have emailed repeatedly and left messages but received no response at all. This is a shocking survival rate for plants and an appalling piece of customer service. Appalling really to just take my money and then ignore all contact.

I do have to speak as I find and the service I received from Shire Plants was faultless. I love the plants they sent me and they were dispatched very quickly after I made my purchase. I would not hesitate to order from them again, Thank you to all at Shire Plants.

Ordered on-line and promptly acknowledge. Posted and received very quickly - came in a little pot, well protected and easily planted into a larger pot before, when warmer, planted out.
Efficient and professional service!

Plants arrived very poorly packed, On opening compost everywhere, 4 plants were in good condition, but 2 were of very poor quality, rotten and dead growth in both, dianthus very straggly and also full of dead slimy leaves. This makes the price of the 4 decent plants more expensive, as well as the cost of postage. I have gardened for over 50 years so fully understand that many plants are only now starting into growth.
I have always tried to purchase from smaller family businesses, however I cannot recommend Shire Plants, will not be buying from here again.
