Terrible service.

We hired SEKA Moving for job #44203-1 on 11th June 2023. It was a MAJOR disappointment, specially given it cost $567 to quickly toss my beloved and valuable vinyl collection in the cheapest, flimsiest boxes (some not even new) with no protection. Even the taping was completely amateurish.

I had explained over the phone and via email how careful they had to be with my collection of beloved and pricey vinyl albums. They confirmed they were up to the job and would use dish-packing boxes, which are stronger than regular boxes and that they would pack everything carefully with wrapping paper. None of this happened.

Clearly, they don’t care about the safety of your belongings and don’t care about returning customers, their business model seems to be “promise whatever the client wants to hear then grab the cash and run”.

Evidently, the boxes arrived crushed and ripped, many of my vinyls were damaged. So far I haven’t received any type of compensation, only requests for evermore pictures, detailed information about each vinyl. I can’t say they seem motivated to provide much help and anyway, many of my vinyls are nowadays impossible to find.

Bottom line, look elsewhere for packing your valuable belongings, these guys aren’t worth your money, they might try to lure you by talking reassuringly but at the end of the day, they just don’t give a damn.

Edit: After providing a list of the items, pictures, value and weight of each, they offered a $100 check as compensation. The insurance doesn't cover the value of the items, just the weight and because vinyls are not very heavy, this is what I got.

Not my first move, but my worst move!

I have moved a few times across state lines and have used moving companies each time. I have always had small issues here and there, but never did I feel like the companies I used were ripping me off...well with SEKA I definitely felt cheated and misinformed.

The move itself went OK, but the sales person I spoke with initially definitely gave me a very low estimate. He knew I was shopping around with other moving companies, and my guess is he low-balled the qoute to get my business-and unfortunately he did! All the other companies I talked with gave me similar prices, but Alex's qoute from SEKA was so much lower than all the other companies, that should have been a red flag for me.

The sales person never asked for pictures of my apartment, nor did he say facetime could be an option. He estimated that I would need 7 medium boxes to pack up my one-bedroom apartment. The movers ended up using a total of 22 boxes! How uniformed can you be as a salesperson to give such a terrible estimate. I ended up having to pay a very high price for the 15 extra boxes and packing service that Alex underestimated.

I tried to talk to a manager later, Chris, who basically said that during one of the conversation I was told that the price of any boxes and services needed outside of the qoute COULD be at a higher rate. And that he would be more than happy to pull a recording of this. When I asked him why don't the sales persons offer the option of facetime to costumers, his response was that customers would have to ask for that option, and that it's never offered up by SEKA moving sales reps.

Save your money and time, don't use SEKA. Go with one of the more popular and reputable companies.

We had a very unique moving request --…

We had a very unique moving request -- we were receiving a shipment of large, heavy, decorative furniture from craftsman in Italy, and we could not receive the delivery at our Upper East Side building or move it up to the fifth floor ourselves. I called a dozen different moving companies, and most dismissed my request to have the furniture delivered to their business address out of hand. But SEKA listened carefully about our situation and agreed to help us. This was a really stressful move, because the furniture could have been easily damaged moving it upstairs (only one piece could fit in our small elevator, so most of it had to go up the stairs), and we had to coordinate with the freight company delivering to SEKA without a concrete timeline from the freight company. But SEKA rolled with the punches, communicated very clearly and in a timely manner, and they were super respectful and helpful throughout. There was only one other moving company in the city that even considered our request, but they would have charged us more.

This is the ONLY moving company I ever want to work with again.

Highly recommended

They made it easy for me to move. They fixed all my things to ensure they got to my new apartment. They also took apart and put back together my furbiture at the new place. Everything was taken care of smoothly, and all I had to do was say where I wanted things to go, recommend this business!

Unfortunate experience

Had a very bad experience with the movers. Very unprofessional and talked down to me, even threatened me to give them a good tip. Made me carry very heavy items to the dumpster and didn’t even help! Overall an uncomfortable experience, will never use this company again.

Careless and Criminal!!

Movers were very careless with our brand new furniture and dragged our 9’ dining table on the floor, which cause a section of the wood to chip off in addition to puncture marks along the top. They also stacked weighted items on the base of our metal coffee table which cause a fracture in the joint. The worst part was they use a standard method of “reimbursement” by paying per pound of the item - how does that even equate? Totally unacceptable! Damages were in the thousands and they reimbursed us less than $200. I don’t know how they get away with this. They don’t even deserve the one star I gave them.

Who loves moving?

Who loves moving?! SEKA movers were very responsive and helped us to stay organized with our move in Manhattan. Once the movers arrived they were very kind and took good care of our belongings in the move. They also delivered our items the same day they were picked up. It was nice not having to be without our items. Thank you SEKA team for making our move a little more cheerful.

Great Move!

Our movers were incredibly helpful moving my furniture from out of state to a five story walk-up. They were prompt and professional and helped make the far move as easy as possible. I would recommend them to anyone looking for great movers in the NYC area.

Seka Moving Reciew

This is my second time using Seka moving! The first was in 2020 for a long distance move and the second in 2022 for a short move! Both times they have been extremely helpful, efficient, and reasonable. Seka makes moving much easier!!
