SECONDMANUAL DECEIVING REVIEWS

They sent a boiler manual instead of a thermostat manual. I had to request a copy anyway as it was not on the website as expected. Alarm bells rang and I then read the trustpilot "actual "reviews 98% bad! Secondmanual are advertising they have 5* reviews TRUSTPILOT should remove them as they are aiding this Company's dubious business

This is just a scam

This is just a scam. They sucked me in with a cheap offer of an instruction manual for £1.49. Then they set me up with an unwanted monthly subscription of £24.90. Disgusting and the site should be removed. I advise everyone to avoid this site at all costs.

Avoid at all costs!

Searching for a manual for my printer I submitted my card details to these scammers for £1.49 to download the manual. Their website informed me there was a problem as my card was turned down. Immediately I checked the company with Trustpilot and knew I had to act. I rang the card issuer and asked them to block the company. They said they could, but advised that it is far safer to scrap the card and have a replacement. A big thank you to Trustpilot and to all those people who have submitted reviews warning about the Secondmanual robbers.

I put my lawn mower and model number in…

I put my lawn mower and model number in and was told my manual was ready to download. I was then asked for £1.49 which I thought was to download the manual they said they had. When I tried to download it they said they didn't have the manual. I then noticed that i was going to be charged a monthly fee of £24 which i didn't notice straight away. A very dubious shady site.
I will be getting in touch with my card company to cancel the £1.49 and ensure the cancelled £24 is not taken either.

These are Scammers.
I was charged £1.49 to see a microwave oven manual, later I'm charged £24 debit for something I wasn't aware that I had signed up for a ongoing subscription. They need to make it clear that it is a sucscription. I did phone them and cancelled the subscription. I await a confirmation email.

Scammers

Scammers. They do not make it obvious that you are signing up for a monthly subscription. Luckily I checked my bank statement after they had taken two monthly payments and I have now cancelled my subscription. £24.90 per month for nothing! I am usually very careful about signing up for anything so they did a good job of hiding the terms and conditions.

Do not use this site

Like other reviews on this site, I only asked for a washing machine manual at a cost of £1.49. Then I noted they had taken £24.99 from my bank account - for what? When I phoned them they agreed to cancel this monthly charge but would not refund my £24.99. So I wrote a letter to the CEO of the company based in Ireland ten days ago and so far have heard nothing, so I will now raise this further with my bank.
I know it is not a large amount of money but the principle of what they have done is completely wrong. They said is was clearly stated, that one could
cancel within 72 hours but this was not clear and under their T&Cs there statement says you can cancel at any time.
I would not recommend this company to anyone.

AVOID THESE SCAM-MERCHANTS! Had a menial amount taken out of my account for a 72 hour 'free' trial. I spent a whole weekend trying to phone them to cancel and their cancellation page was conveniently 'down'. Eventually got through AFTER the cancellation period had elasped and was refused a refund but got assured I would have no further charges. Eight months later I've realised on a tight month financially they continued to take £24.90 from my account every month. Scamming ba****ds!!

These robbing thieves are conning loads of people as detailed in the reviews published here. Avoid them like the plague. I had £75 taken so I phoned my credit card company and did a "charge back" and just been notified that it is now back in my account. It only take a call to the credit card company. Do it!!

Absolute scam. Take £1.49 initially then charge you 72 hours later 24.99 per month. Spoke to Lucy on their contact number and she said would not refund the £24.99 but said would cancel the future subscription. Taking legal advice against these crooks.

SCAM

I paid approximately £1.49 for a PDF download of a manual, only to find my credit card was charged a further £24.99 for my first month subscription to their service. I saw nothing regarding subscriptions when I was using their website.

This is not a huge amount of money to loose, but I feel cheated and angry.

Oh my word - rip off !!

Oh my word - I wish I'd checked Trustpilot first. I've just had the same experience - in that I was looking for instruction for my Kercher & ended up paying £1.29. Just checked my bank statement & there is a "pending"transaction of £24.90 ! Went straight to the website & completed a "cancellation" for any further transactions (I hope !). I have emailed them & asked for a repayment of £24.99. I am very attentive to "small print" but didn't see anything that indicated further automatic debits. I am a 78 year old pensioner trying to cope with not receiving a Winter Fuel payment etc. and cannot afford to give money away to fraudsters.
*** UPDATE 11/2/25- I emailed Customer Services for the company & explained my situ & made a very strong complaint about their "underhand" business practices. I asked for a refund of £24.90. I also said that I was considering contacting the BBC Watchdog programme.
I received an email saying that it had been "escalated" to their billing dept for consideration.Three days later I emailed again & said that had I not received a reply within 5 days that I would carry on with my proposed action. I have now received a refund of £24.90 with an assurance that no further monthly payments will be taken...RESULT... so all you people who feel aggrieved - why not try the same action.

As others have said, it is a scam. They charge £1.49 and then fraudulently take £24.90. I have reported to MasterCard and they have blocked any future payments and also informed the company that MasterCard will take action against them. Disgusting.

I apologise for giving this site one star it should be minus 10 stars. This is a totally dishonest site designed solely to take your hard earned cash. Unbelievable. First they take a small payment of £1.49 from your card, then sneakily try to charge you £24.90 per month, WHAT? just to try to buy a manual that they could not supply. The " small print " is not clear

Scam Warning!

The search function on this website is fake. If you type anything (and I mean anything!) in the search box, the system always shows the following two messages:

We are searching for your manual!

Your manual is now available!

It then takes you immediately to the payment page. I typed Chewing Gum, Fluffy Kitten and Sylvester Stallone. According to the website, they apparently have user manuals for all these items. Try it yourself; just type anything!

There are several websites like this, and they all operate in the same way.

Please note that most manuals are available free of charge online, or directly from retailers and manufacturers.

Like others, I paid £1.49 for a manual, which they did email to me.
Then my bank notified me that this company has set up a recurring monthly standing order for £24.99, which they blocked. Thank you Nationwide.
