I bought the Salton Glass Basket Digital Air Fryer – 4.5L (AF2136) mainly because of the glass basket and viewing window — it looks like a safer, cleaner alternative to coated baskets. Unfortunately, the performance is very disappointing.
First problem: uneven cooking. The back overheats while the front stays undercooked. Fries need constant shaking every few minutes or they burn on one side and stay soggy on the other. Frozen foods are especially frustrating — you end up running multiple extra cycles just to finish cooking.
Second: the temperature accuracy is terrible. Even following recommended air-fryer settings, food either dries out or never crisps. It clearly does not reach or maintain the displayed temperature.
The presets are basically useless. Each one requires manual adjustment anyway, so the digital controls don’t add value — just more beeping and button pressing.
The viewing window fogs up almost immediately, defeating its purpose. After a few uses it also develops a baked-on film that’s hard to clean, even though the whole selling point of glass is supposed to be easy maintenance.
Another major issue is the weak airflow. Instead of air frying, it feels more like a small convection oven — slow and mediocre. Cooking takes significantly longer than most air fryers.
Finally, the unit runs very hot externally and the fan noise is loud and unpleasant.
Overall, this product focuses on aesthetics over performance. A nice idea, but poorly executed. For the price, there are far better air fryers that actually crisp food properly.
I would not recommend this model.
