I've been using Safelink for years. I've always had phones that are a step behind the most up to date. But I don't care. I have phone service that wouldn't have otherwise. I've never had a complaint about the quality of the calls. Years back I only had 300 minutes a month for talking AND texts. And it took a minute for each incoming and outgoing text. I still didn't complain. The only complaint I did have was in having no recourse with spam callers before I had a smart phone. That sucked. But I don't think the system supports anything less than smartphones now. I would suggest this service provider to anyone who's low income and wouldn't have a phone and service otherwise 😊

They did this to me. When I first signed up for safelink, I was given a phone number for two years. Had Google accounts, Amazon account, and other online accounts tied to this phone number. I switch carriers. They claim that I cannot port out my number because I never purchased anything with safelink using a credit card and then they lie and claim that the zip code is not correct for when I first signed up for the service. That zip code was always the same as where I lived and when I first signed up. They kept refusing to accept my zip code and refused the port transfer. I had to go to the FCC and threaten a lawsuit but Tracfone is still refusing to port out my number. Safelink has committed fraud here and should be investigated by the FCC for fraud registrations. They register a customer with a particular phone number assigned but use a different zip code than the customers. So they are committing fraud to prevent anybody from going to a competitor. Safelink and Tracfone together are engaging in anti-competitive practices, anti-trust, and refuse to port out a number. Because of this I may be locked out from my Amazon account, locked out of my Google accounts, may be locked out from getting rewards from Receipt Hog. I am being locked out because of stupid Safelink/Tracfone. They have both failed and Safelink has engaged in fraud. I have gone to the FCC with the evidence. I have the evidence proving all of my claims. The FCC isn't doing anything about this yet, they may never will. I will never go back to SafeLink, EVER!!!!!! Don't trust Safelink, they are a shady fraudulent company relying on taking Government money claiming to give you a free service and then lie about you and claim your applying for the service twice to reduce your text, minutes, and DATA. Then they offer you to pay monthly for additional DATA, Minutes, and text. Safelink is committing fraud and having Tracfone to go along with it, all do extort more money from their customers who are supposed to receive entirely free government phones and free service. Safelink is only there to extort the low income families.
I tried to switch to QLink Wireless and Safelink kept giving them trouble and kept refusing to port out the number. I verified the security code over and over again, and they repeatedly just lie and claim that I they cannot transfer the number and act like I am not a legitimate owner of the very phone number I am still having right now. I had this number for two years. I have given all of the evidence including phone call recordings with safelink and tracfone to the FCC. Any Federal Judge would accept this high level of evidence I have. Safelink is a fraud, they only want you trapped into their company. If you get any phone number with safelink, you better forget it and not use it for any online account verification otherwise you will be locked out of Twitter. Microsoft. Google, Amazon. You will be locked out of your online shopping and possibly your bank accounts if any use phone number verification. Safelink is there to extort YOU. They will hold your phone number hostage for months if they have to. They have to make money off of the low income applicants.
FRAUD
SafeLink is taking advantage of the most vulnerable of our society and cashing in on it. The company participates in the "Affordable Connectivity Program" and the "Life Line" program. Unfortunately, SafeLink does not provide members of the program the correct plans they are approved for. They then make it very difficult and impossible to get it straightened out. From not having access to any of your data usage or current plan information, to customer service representatives and higher ups that will "transfer" you to another department, only to continue to hang up the line, to their faulty automative system that goes in and out so the customer cannot hear the options to choose from, to the call back option working improperly and disconnecting prematurely, to the chat customer representatives taking 20min+ to send one sentence, to customers being told they've used all allowed data for the month even when the phone was just activated, to the "Higher Department" not reaching when the customer is told a call was scheduled for them to reach out. This companies use of the "ACP" and "Lifeline" program needs to be investigated.

I've been a tracfone customer for 20 years overall they have been very good phones and service has been very good only downside has been data was expensive 10 dollar for 1/1.5 gb last five yrs I would get new phone from QVC or HSN with 1 yr contract new phones not refurbs for really low prices now they have been bought by Verizon so we'll have to see what happens?. Calls have been great text great even data speeds always good just that in my opinion it was always expensive data costs that were bad.

I had been using their free cell phone service since 2013,and in early 2020 the second non smartphone that they had sent me broke,so at first they claimed I wasn't eligible to get a new phone,and then they said it could just be the battery that needs to be replaced. At first they said they weren't going to even send me a battery so I had to order one and then I had to return it because after they claimed they would now send me a replacement phone of the same model, and told me I wasn't eligible for a smartphone, then they mailed me a brand new decent smartphone.
Well after having this smartphone for a year and a half,it broke and was totally dead,and I asked them if the Safelink customer service could please send me a replacement for it, and I said I don't care if it's the same model or even just a basic cell phone because it's very important to have a cell phone for emergencies, both the customer service agent and then the supervisor I asked to speak to both claimed I'm not eligible to get another phone, they are full of garbage and I said I am still eligible for the same reasons I have been for years using their service.

Why wont you give me a stinkin phone ever? You get money from the govt to do so! Dayum you cant provide a 20 dollar phone? Im pretty sure this is all TMOBILE whiiich, has poor security and is always being hacked, why would I want to sign up with them using lifeline, which is my SS#? Philippines customer service. Ill pay for monthy service, fact IS these days, all you need is a cheap smartphone, and you can use apps and wifi hotspots to reach people through the apps, so I can do without you creeps, you and ASSurance

Utterly shady business practices. I bought a phone from them just wanting to get like 20 minutes to keep for incoming calls in case of an emergency. When I actually tried to activate the phone, all the plans were scammy. They all had expirations and to make my minutes last a year was outrageously expensive. I tried a plan B where I'd just use the wi-fi to connect to Skype or some other VOIP, but that wasn't available despite the phone having internet capability. I'm going to be reporting these disgusting vermin to the FTC as well.

Took 2 minutes to fill out the application and get approved. Received the phone in less than a week. Took 2 minutes to activate the phone. The phone works great, better than expected. Wish it came with more than 350 minutes but I can't complain. I liked that I could use my own phone which other companies don't allow.

Its hard to apply for their free phone service. They don't give out free phones hardly anymore

Never ever have experienced such discord..6 phone calls in two days to address minutes and data not being added to my account....once finally my minutes were added, they took away my data, then vice versa....totally incapable of correctly adding both at once , and now they completely deleted my 2.5gb of data within 2 minutes, and tell me that I need to purchase more data.....total joke...left hand has no clue what the right hand is doing....and they dont seem to have notes from the prior reps I spoke to....
I just signed up for another provider, where I dont have to no longer deal with their bs, as soon as my new sim card arrives...Thank God!

Only two people I have talked to get this accomplishment,one I gave a good rating and a Manager. I had phone issues I didn't know it was the service at first so I let the BBB handle it. Only way to fix a technical problem. If anyone has this problem or any problem with Safelink and cannot solve it call the Better Business Bureau.

I ordered a replacement phone and never received it. I have called 14 times total this week and continue to be hung up on, put in an automated loop which ultimately hangs up on me, and transferred to 'on hold' where noone answers for twelve plus minutes. One time I could hear them talking and laughing ( Not in English) but they never picked up my call. (and I Still do not know where my replacement is ! ) Most of the time I can barely understand the person speaking to me. Broken English with an overseas accent. One call I actually got a pleasant female operator, who I could easily understand, she was helping me and I thought we would get it all taken care of, then she transferred me, and it hung up on me, again. All I want to know is when I will get my replacement phone!!. This is a U.S. government issued cell phone and people in ?India? take my call?! So many things wrong with this "customer service" operation. It's been over a week now with no phone. I am beyond frustrated and still cant call my disabled mother all because of Safelink wireless' "customer service". The worst I have had to deal with in over ten years. WHERE'S MY PHONE .
They discriminate, and play dumb
When you call safelink, the person answering the phone, literally, makes you repeat your name, birth date, and last 4 of social, eight or more times (Yes, I recorded all of this). Then they tell you that they can*not* get a certain address to work, in San Jose, California. They say " call California lifeline, and get them to unblock the address". Called California lifeline, and California lifeline does *not* have the address blocked. They also pretend to not understand ship it to this post office "general delivery", (which California lifeline allows). Yes, the calls with California lifeline were recorded too. ( I, for the record, have two forms of psoriasis, had a 9 cm ovarian lesion surgically removed, have another 3.2 cm (probably larger, ovarian lesion), have a 7.3. cm fibroid (likely larger) (low ferritin, low transferrin, & low hemoglobin, periodically, as a result of the fibroid), asthma, have metal in my femur, and hip ( do *not* walk), am under the age of 45, & have numbness and tingling in the arm, hand, and fingers, on the opposite side of my body, from where I have metal. There's a strong chance I have psoriatic arthritis, as well. So, yes, I am disabled. p.s. I am far from "morbidly obese"

The phone didn't come with everything it was supposed to. Onlywire wanted me to mail the phone back.After talking to a supervisor they agreed to mail my missing parts. 2 weeks later still no parts. Called again. Placed order oin early July and got parts in middle of August.
