Good afternoon, I am sorry to read your poor feedback. You contacted us and advised 'I have bought a bag of "Complete Dry Dog Food" and I am looking for a feeding guid for pup. Not even 8 months old GSD around 44kg, and according to the vet expected to hit 55, or even 60kg'. We replied to you 'We advise puppies to transition onto adult food around 12-18 months of age. But please see the attached recommended feeding guide' based on the product you purchased which is for adult dogs. You then stated 'those are for fully grown dogs...' which then we responded with and sent you the link to our puppy feeding guide which is a different product yes because you are using the wrong product for your puppy. We then stated As this food is recommended for adult dogs, the recommended feeding is based for adult dogs. I would advise using the calories in the food to work out the best intake for your dog and you sadly left the chat. If you choose to use adult dog food for your puppy and need advice on a feeding guide, then I would recommend that you contact your vet. Kind regards, Team Sabre 🐾

To clarify, the product you contacted us about is formulated and labelled for adult dogs, and the feeding guide available for that product is therefore based on fully grown dogs only. As a responsible pet food company, we cannot provide or invent feeding recommendations for puppies using an adult formulation where no validated puppy guidance exists. Doing so would risk giving inaccurate advice regarding calorie intake and nutrient balance for a growing dog.

For that reason, our team provided the feeding guide that exists for the product purchased and explained that puppy feeding recommendations are only available for foods formulated specifically for puppies. When you pointed out that the adult feeding guide did not apply to your puppy, we directed you to the puppy range because those products include feeding guidance based on growth stages. Alternatively, if you choose to feed an adult formulation to a puppy, the most appropriate source of guidance would be your vet.

Regarding formulation differences, while some products may appear similar, nutritional requirements for growing large breed puppies (including calorie intake and mineral balance) are carefully controlled. This is precisely why we will not provide speculative feeding guidance outside the intended use of a product.

Our goal during the chat was simply to ensure that we did not provide misleading or potentially inappropriate feeding advice.

Hi Justine, we’re sorry to hear how disappointing this has been. Orygo was discontinued from our ranges and customers notified in advance and also offered alternatives. In relation to Alpha Spirit, we have experienced unprecedented demands due to its popularity and also at that time we experienced temporary supply issues due to export disruptions that were completely outside of our control. We’re sorry this has left you feeling let down. Hi Mark, we’re genuinely sorry to hear how disappointed you’ve been by this experience. Having looked into this, your order was delivered on 9th November and we were contacted on 17th of November regarding the damaged bag. As outlined in our terms, damage in transit must be reported within three days of receipt. This timeframe is in place because courier claims for transit damage must be raised within this strict window, and once that period passes we’re unfortunately unable raise any claims with them.

We certainly don’t view these reports lightly, and they are not something we consider “standard” or acceptable. We continuously review both our packaging and courier performance to reduce the likelihood of issues like this happening. Kind regards, Team Sabre🐾

Hi Alexander, we’re disappointed to read your review and I have looked further into this for you .

On October 28th you contacted us to request that your subscription be processed earlier than its scheduled date. When we attempted to manually advance the order as requested, a system error prevented it from being submitted correctly to our warehouse picking system. We are sorry for this, and as soon as we identified the issue, we informed you, apologised, and arranged for the order to be delivered the following day resolving this within 24 hours. For that reason, we were unable to offer compensation for travel costs that you had attempted to claim from us.

I could only see one other occasion where there may have been an 'issue' which is where a manual order was placed ahead of your subscription and that you had thought it would cancel out the subscription order that is placed automatically. We did advise that this wasn't the case as the system will auto-generate the subscription order regardless of a manual order placed by yourself directly. We did however offer to collect this via courier at our cost which we actioned and refunded you. We also advised that 'if you need any amendments to these i.e. placing an order early or amending the frequency just let us know and we can do this for you' by our customer services team.

However we can now see that since this happened you have gone on to place further orders with us this year which we really appreciate your custom and we are glad to see that you choose Sabre Pet Food. Many thanks, Team Sabre 🐾

Dear Patrik,

I would like to take this opportunity to reiterate our apologies. It is clear you feel our team did not provide a satisfactory resolution to your concerns, despite us offering a significant refund and putting you in touch with a registered veterinary professional, who was able to offer advice and reassurance.

However, there are several important factors your review does not mention:

The first order placed under your account was on 23rd January 2025. Your most recent order was on 19th April 2025. Between these dates, you placed a total of 7 orders. The first time you contacted our team regarding any issues was on 3rd April. Upon receiving this initial communication, we refunded the full amount for the order in question.

It was only after receiving this refund that you informed us of further issues relating to previous orders. As you were unable to provide specific details (e.g. which orders were allegedly affected, or how many), we requested, on 7th April, that you supply images of the affected food. This is standard procedure in line with our complaints policy. It allows us to assess the nature of any issues and raise them with the manufacturer, if necessary. Although you stated you had taken photographs, none were shared with us at that time, and we did not hear from you again until June.

Between 7th April and you reestablishing contact in June, you placed a further two orders for the same product. In the absence of additional correspondence, and based on your continued purchases, we reasonably concluded the matter had been resolved. However, when you did contact us again, you stated that all orders received from us had been contaminated with plastic. This contradicted your earlier claims. At that point, you also informed us you had contacted the manufacturer, Alpha Spirit directly. Until then, you had provided no details of this communication or the issues raised with them—aside from the order we had already refunded.

Given the seriousness of your new claim—that seven consecutive bags contained plastic—we escalated the matter to Alpha Spirit as a priority. They were understandably concerned and requested the material you alleged to be plastic be sent to them for testing. However, you advised you had already disposed of the material, despite not having been advised to do so. For the 4 initial orders you subsequently claimed were also affected, we were not in a position to advise you regarding disposal, as you had not informed us of any problem at that time.

Without further evidence or samples, Alpha Spirit was unable to investigate further. Based on the information available, they concluded the material you described was likely small fragments of bone or cartilage. Given their product contains 85% whole fish, such inclusions are to be expected and can be beneficial to dogs’ diets.

As a gesture of goodwill—and to enable you to purchase an alternative product—we offered a further refund, in addition to the one previously issued. This second refund covered the two orders placed between April and June and brought the total value of refunds offered to over £200. We advised you this was our best and final offer. It is clear you were not satisfied with this, as you have since posted multiple negative reviews across various platforms and threatened to post on social media. These reviews contain claims we consider false and defamatory.

Finally, we would like to make it clear that, unlike some companies, we do not offer refunds in exchange for the removal of negative reviews. We have also observed you frequently post similar reviews, which appear intended to obtain additional refunds.

We have now exhausted all reasonable steps to resolve this matter. While we regret that you are unhappy, we believe we have acted fairly and in good faith throughout. We believe we cannot continue to supply you with our products and ask that you make no further purchases from us.
