Ruze Shoes refuses to honor paid "Return Care" protection on Mystery Box

I recently made my first purchase with Ruze Shoes, and while I liked the selection provided in their Mystery Box, the experience has been a total failure in customer service.

The Sizing Issue: The sizing is completely inconsistent with industry standards. I am a consistent size 9.5 in Nike, Reebok, Adidas, Saucony, and Puma, yet the 9.5 shoes Ruze sent are massive—closer to a size 10.5. I cannot wear a single pair.

The Broken Promise of "Return Care": Knowing a mystery box is a "final sale" risk, I proactively purchased the AfterShip Return Care add-on at checkout. Ruze’s own website explicitly states that "AfterShip Protection offers return care for customers." Despite this, Ruze refused to honor an exchange for a size 9.

The Policy Violation: When I reached out for help, they essentially said "too bad" and retroactively refunded the $5 protection fee to avoid honoring the service. This is a direct violation of AfterShip’s own terms, which state that once an order is marked as fulfilled, the protection is active and non-refundable. Ruze Shoes is selling a protection service they have no intention of providing, effectively taking customer money for "coverage" that they block in their system the moment you actually need it.

Conclusion: I wasn't asking for my money back; I was asking to be a customer and swap for a size that fits. Instead, Ruze chose to void a paid service contract to avoid a simple exchange. First-time buyers beware: their "Return Care" is a phantom service that won't protect you if the product they send is unwearable.

UPDATE — March 5, 2026: Ruze Shoes replied to this review 3 days ago promising to "be in touch soon" to find a solution. As of today, I have received zero communication from them. It appears the public response was purely for optics, as they still have not addressed the fact that they charged me for "Return Care" protection and then retroactively refunded it to avoid honoring an exchange. Their "dedication to a solution" remains invisible.

I purchased $260 Bed Stu boots. On the day of planned delivery Ontrak (Ruze’s delivery agent) said delivery was failed, couldn’t find address?! Then no contact for 2 days. Ruze told me to contact Ontrak. Ruze has no concern once the boots leave their facility. BUYER BEWARE. That is irresponsible on their part. Don’t Gamble with Ruze or is it Ruseor is it Rude.

I've ordered from this store 3 times and all went smoothly, all shoes as described on the website. If you visit the website often enough you will get excellent deals from branded quality shoes! I may get addicted to this store as there's too many good deals to be had. I highly recommend this store. Huge plus is the free postage and EXCELLENT customer service!!!

So far so good.

I have purchased 5 pairs of shoes from RUZE over the past two years. All of the shoes were as described on their website. They were shipped within 24 hours and I received them at my house within 3 days of when I ordered them. If I need more information on a product I can call RUZE and a real live person answers the phone to answer my question.

BUYER BEWARE!!! DO NOT BUY FROM THEM

I only gave it a 1 star because I couldnt give it a no star rating.. but buyer beware!!! I ordered boots for my boyfriend 3 weeks ago and the date they were supposed to be here was 5 days ago..theb I get an email from the company stating that they will be arriving by 9pm yesterday..wrong again I have yet to recieve the boots..
To top it all off I emailed the company amd the emailed email back with a tracking number thats it.. no apology, nothing explaining what happened, no discount or refund options. Nope just a straight tracking number to track where the boots are.. no help at all bc I knw where they are.. they arnt at my house. I sent a 2nd email demanding my refund well see what happens now.
But trust and believe me when I say stay away.. go somewhere else spend the extra money bc this is a scam or something.

Good shopping site, terrible shipping service

Good shopping site. Terrible partner used for delivery. The USPS, FedEx and UPS all can find my home in a neighborhood that's 18 months old. Ontrac claimed my address was "incomplete" when it's own software or GPS is outdated. After I gave Ontrac an alternative address, my shoes arrived 21 days after shipping. Ontrac, owned by Lasership, is terrible.

Scam Company

Update to initial review. Company responds indicating they will reach out to resolve any issues. Another lie and scam. There has been no reach out or solution of any kind to their scamming model.

Zero customer service, no way to contact a human

Poor value and customer service is non-existent. Email replies are from an unhelpful bot or AI and their phone is often not answered. The one time I spoke with a human, their English was so bad that I could not resolve my problem. I regret shopping at Ruze. (they responded below that they would contact me to address my concerns, but they have not)

Amazing service.

I live in New Zealand and have ordered 5 pairs of shoes in 3 separate orders. Every purchase has Been sent out quickly and arrived in perfect condition and the correct product. I even queried one purchase to double check sizing and they responded very quickly.
I like the posts they do on TikTok so you can get a better idea of the products too.

Living at the bottom of the world means getting certain items can be hard. So I just wanted to say thank you guys so much for the international shipping allowing me to buy the things I want.

This company is an absolute disgrace .Ordered a pair of left handed tenpin bowling shoes and received a pair of righthanded shoes.
Would not respond to my emails .Refuse to refund the purchase price until Ebay intervened. Refused to reimburse the postage back to them when clearly their terms state that a refund of shipping charges will be granted if the wrong item was posted.
Obviously this must occur on a frequent basis.
Recommend do not deal with this organisation.

Excellent customer service, quick shipping

Surprised to see all the negative reviews. Have had nothing but positive experiences with the orders I've done with them.

Ordered a pair of boots, got the wrong color but since the fit was good decided I would keep them. Messaged them about the issue and they responded on a weekend. Gave me 15 percent discount on the boots I received, another 15 on a future purchase. A few days later ordered again. Sent them my updated order and they gave me the discount before my new boots even arrived. Got the correct boots a few days ago.

I feel they went above and beyond and were very quick to respond to emails.

Ruze are fraudulent shysters. Beware.

Do not purchase from Ruze. They are complete shysters. Absolute fraud.
They send the wrong boots (soft toes instead of the purchased steel safety toe), then refuse to resolve their error.
The previous purchase, they sent the wrong size. Customer service is disgraceful, endless generic replies refusing to refund or send the correct boots that were paid for. Complete scammers. Don't waste your money with this fraud company.

Edit* they have since replied (after a dozen unbelievably disgraceful emails refusing to co-operate), asking me to remove the review, offering a pathetic 15% refund and 15% discount on another purchase. When I replied asking for the steel toe boots I ordered (rather than soft toe boots that are not legal on building sites), or a decent refund.. the same copy/paste bot like generic replies refusing to refund now they have dragged it out beyond a supposed 30 day return policy! Absolute crooks. This fraudulent company should be shut down.

Don't get their mystery box. They tell you what you'll be getting when it ships.

You'll get sent at least one pair of football cleats, one pair of dress shoes, a pair of footsaver diabetic shoes, and a pair of $20 slippers that they say is a $50 value. I have no use for these.

I get it, it's a mystery box, but they should know that 99% of the people that buy shoes from them will have no use for these kinds of shoes.

They also aren't posting their user reviews for the mystery boxes. Even after I submitted mine it says 0 reviews and "Be the first to review"

Use your money to get exactly what you want, and not the mystery box. I paid $110 for basically 2 pairs of shoes that when aren't marked up, sell for $26 on their website, and even those shoes aren't that great. All no name brands like footsaver, bates, and avenger.

The shoes I ordered were not delivered…

The shoes I ordered were not delivered to my house. I’ve been emailing them for 54 days now and just keep getting the say copy and paste response. “ We understand your concern, we have filed a claim and we are waiting for an update from the shipping carrier.
Please allow us a few days to get back to you with an update. ”. ITS ALMOST BEEN 2 MONTHS THEY ARENT GOING TO RESPOND!

UPDATE:
41 sent emails and 88 days later, after I was asked to “ Kindly allow until 08/27, as that is the deadline by which we expect to receive an update from the investigation.” They declined my claim for a refund.
Also, they never reached out to me as they stated they would in the comment below. I had to copy and paste their comment to them in an email.
Absolutely garbage customer service and company!!
