I used Remark! for a training session for some of my colleagues and it was so perfect! Jess & the team kindly set up the room exactly how we'd like it, and ensured it was cool enough during a mega heatwave in the UK! It's a gorgeous building in a great location with lovely staff! Would highly recommend for lots of needs like meetings, conferences, training sessions, interviews, filming locations etc.

I had a fantastic experience working with Remark! to deliver Deaf Awareness and Introduction to BSL training. The session was engaging, insightful, and incredibly well received by my colleagues.

They’re a brilliant partner; knowledgeable, professional, and genuinely passionate about creating inclusive workplaces. I'm really grateful for the support and look forward to continuing our work together, through National Inclusion Week and beyond.

100% recommend. I completed Level 1 BSL in March and, from start to finish, my experience was fantastic. The communication, administration, and teaching were all excellent. I arrived on day one slightly nervous and without any BSL experience. I learned so much and felt supported every step of the way. The Remark! building is a lovely place to be: so welcoming and homely. From the moment I arrived, I felt as though I belonged. I can't wait to start Level 2!

Remark a good place to learn sign language, John is such a good teacher and makes the classes enjoyable, though sometimes, I have no idea what he is signing. He patiently use different ways of explaining until I get it.

I attended to learn so I can communicate with a family member who is hard healing, after level 2, I am able to easily understand the basics and also to finger spell when I don't know the sign..

I hired out one of the rooms for a workshop and the staff there were all so lovely and accommodating to what we needed prepared for the room.

Just finished level 2 course and I have to say it was a really good experience. John was a great teacher and always made me feel comfortable even though I found the course challenging at times. Would highly recommend both John and Remark to anyone

I have just completed my level 1 course with Yatz. I was nervous at first of understanding the course content , but I needn’t have worried . Yatz made it fun interesting and totally understandable . Thank you to all the staff at Remark! for creating a welcoming atmosphere .

I really enjoyed my Level 2 with John Archbold, the classes were full of lived experiences and we covered a wide range of vocabulary through discussions. I came into this course with poor receptive skills and from previously attempting to study BSL online and struggling.
I found Face to Face learning in a classroom so beneficial and my confidence in receptive improved hugely by the end of the course.
My only less positive point would be that while we focused enough on the receptive so be sure of passing unit 201, practising a whole 5 minute presentation in class did not often happen. We were given plenty of opportunity for productive signing, however perhaps not to a full 5 minutes, so I felt less confident for unit 202.
Unit 203 was fine as John had always got us to have conversations in each class about a news story or our weekend.
I did, however, really enjoy this class and would recommend it and John as a teacher to anyone thinking about their Level 2 BSL.

Well-run BSL Level 1 course, with excellent tuition and support offered at all times. All the Remark! staff were friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.

I'm currently studying level 3 BSL with Remark, and am just past the halfway mark of the course.
I have very mixed feelings about the course, hence the 3 stars.
First the positive. The teachers, and the overall experience of being in a deaf-centred environment are great. The teachers are passionate about BSL, make the lessons engaging, and encourage us to ask as many questions as we need to understand something. Occasionally we may have a subsitute teacher, but the quality never drops.
Now the negative. The course feels misleadingly advertised. Whilst it was made clear that it would include context around the language, such as the history & culture, it now feels like this is the predominant element, with the language secondary. I feel like I'm learning Deaf Studies, with a side of BSL. A LOT of the course is research of various Deaf issues, writing numerous presentations, and other forms of independent study. Whilst these are certainly interesting, I don't feel they directly advance my skill at BSL. If the amount of time and effort spent on research, was spent on actual practice, I think we'd all improve a lot more. The more we progress through the course, the more it seems like the goal of passing the exams, versus that of learning the language, drift further apart. Perhaps that's the fault of Signature and their syllabus, but somewhere down the line it feels like we're not getting what we signed up for.

A comprehensive, well-taught course, which was fun and engaging too - thank you Remark! I'm amazed that I've gone from no understanding to being able to have a conversation within a couple of months. It's great!

A friendly, helpful team that goes out of its way to provide a great experience.
We use their events facilities as they are perfectly sized, conveniently located for transport links, and very reasonably priced.
We have booked many times and will continue to do so.

Great 2 Hour Taster Session!

The 2 hour taster session taught me basic sign language skills, and provided me with a wealth of information on The Deaf Community and how best to engage with people who are deaf. I think that the more in-depth courses will be incredibly useful

We learn the correct terminology for deaf people and how to make communication easier along with how modern technology helps deaf people in day to day life. We looked and practiced very basic sign language and how hard it it to lip read. It was an amazing experience coming from someone who attended because they are selective mute! Ive always wanted to learn and this place if perfect fo it!

I found the introduction to BSL and Deaf culture event very helpful in building my awareness and confidence interacting with people who are Deaf or use BSL. Staff were friendly and well informed and provided a great overview, also offering their own lived experience

It was great to learn about attitudes, do's and don'ts. The practical exercises was really good fun to do, albeit hard!
