Thank you for your feedback. A percentage of the HMO's under our management house temporary accommodation placements made directly by local councils. The majority of our placements are good citizens transitioning to other accommodation, some are a challenge to house. With hospitials, care homes, prisions, warden assisted, supported living, social housing, council housing etc all very limited in supply HMO's are used a cost effective short term emergency solution.
The care needs of a few individuals are sometimes difficult to manage & housing placements with complex addiction needs (often caused by underlying mental health issues) is difficult & can lead to noise & disruption in neighbourhoods.
Simply evicting troublesome individuals does not help with their recovery and passes the problem on for society to deal with later on, often with higher costs & more consequences.
However, neighbours & other placements in HMO's are entitled to the quiet enjoyment of their homes.
Please be assured that those using drugs & causing issues for the community at large will have action put into place to rehouse them to accommodation more suitable to their needs or have their placements ended.
We work with a number of local organisations, support groups, specalist council departments and supporting difficult placements can somtimes take longer than we would ideally like to solve long running issues.
Please get in touch directly if there is a specific HMO or individual that requires attention.
The short term action of quick evictions within 48 hours for the most vulnerable in society isnt always the answer but is a tool at our disposal.
