Emails not answered, wait for ever on the phone to talk to someone who won't help, can't help.
Most expensive power in NZ.
I am in my home once every 3 months for ten days, nothing is running when we are not there, and my power doubled in price when I joined.
DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER THIS COMPANY AS A VIABLE OPTION.

Takes days to get a response and even then they just make assumptions rather than ask the questions.
Daily rates are not as advertised out by mealy 50cents per day!

We got a 2nd property. Our current power company is closing up and not taking on any new property sign ups. So I went to these guys and transferred both properties over. They said everything was fine over the phone. Next, the power at the 2nd property was shut off which sent me into panic mode as it's the office space. I found a hidden email in my junk folder from them saying that they declined my application due to a bad credit check! Which was impossible! I tried to contact them and all they said was contact the credit team. No way am I begging to be their customer. Went to Genesis energy who said my credit was perfect! They got my power back on the same day.

If you want to make power buying painful move to Powershop! It’s punishing going into the app to buy power, it’s also just dumb waste of time!
The customer support is also horrible! I would highly recommend not using these guys- you save little to nothing for a whole lot more pain!
Total Fail With Customer Service
Needed to get a simple answer to an account question. Chat said I was 81st in the queue, as if we have time to hang about all that time?! So then tried emailing. Automated reply stated allow 10 working days for a response. Turned out to be 20 working days! Then got told they couldn't see the issue I had described. So a total fail in Customer Services. Powershop used to be brilliant in this area but not now.

Better hope you never have to get hold of them on their only contact...the CHAT BOX!! Yesterday there were 80 in the queue. I could not wait. Today it was 36...still waiting for a response. Absolutely not good enough. Who has time to sit around for a day to get hold of them!!!
Worst experience ever
Newsflash: If you’re ‘going digital’ Powershop, make sure your sh!t is in working order. Can’t believe something as simple and boring as switching electricity can be messed up so badly.
AWFUL experience. Don’t do it! It’s not worth the “savings”. I signed up. There was a mismatch in ICP vs their record…. Did they tell me?? Nope. They just disconnected my power. When I phoned, the lady acted super condescending as if I hadn’t paid my bill. I asked why no one had thought to tell me the situation. She just said she couldn’t advise me in that, then had me self-transfer?!?! into a different 45 minute queue, and no resolution. Grrrr.
Unbelievably useless support
Unbelievably useless support, no email contact, no call back contact, phone call to support is wait in a queue for 2 hours.
Online que is currently 197 people, counts down to 100 then stopped then someone messaged me saying I am unresponsive and I have to join the queue again.
There app is a scam, they remove the promised discounts as soon as you log in.
Do no go with this company. I am canceling by moving to another company today.

They are absolutely useless. Trying to discuss anything takes forever to get in contact with them. No phone number only live chat that you have to sit and wait forever for someone to answer.

On hold for hours
On hold for hours, can’t get an answer out the script reading staff, wasn’t warned I would need to be waiting around the property for them to remotely switch on, when I arrived home I was expected to wait another hour, power could not be switch on remotely and was told I would need to wait for staff to arrive to physically switch on anywhere between 3-6 hours later (assume I was expected to wait around for them to arrive without a realistic time frame) canceled account with power shop before even getting the power switched on
Complicated cost hiding price structure where you pay more for youe electricty
Powershop have a complicated dual peak/non-peak rates with a high daily charge with each month's kWH rates for different for the future months. This makes it nearly impossible to calculate whether you will be better off with them. I had to input their next 12 months varaible rates into a spreadsheet, calculate the daily rate using 8/16 peak/non-peak hours per day, apply that rate to my last 12 monthly kWH usage to see that Powershop are more costly than Mercury.
Their customer service is rubbish
Their customer service is rubbish. They have no phone number. You can’t cancel and you have to wait online with 92 other people on their live chat.
Do not change to this company
Do not change to this company. They are misleading powerswitch and will be 3x the power charge you are paying now. Powerswitch said I would save $500 a year. Their app is suggesting it will be $500 a month more than I was paying prior to switching. Will be notifying ombudsman and have notified powerswitch of this scam company.
Terrible experience!
Terrible experience!! First bill was 50% more than my previous two with another supplier despite the PowerSwitch app suggesting Powershop as the best option. Made numerous unsuccessful attempts to contact customer service for an explanation. After two days and hours of wasted time, I switched back to my previous supplier - very poor all round!
Total rip off company
Total rip off company, Do NOT sign up with them, when I phoned them they said low rates and daily rate $1.38. NOT true , they charged me $3.38 so not what I was told. The customer service is crap, rude, unhelpful. I have now changed with a daily rate of $1.38 to contact energy.

There are significant systems issues.
Although we always budget funds to cover our bill, we have had several 'dishonoured' issues, and even a 'collectors' threat after we had moved on to another provider.
They blame "the bank" but in my experience it has been issues with powershop's dysfunctional bill payment system largely at fault
I would not reccomend anyone joining this company.

Yes I should have read the reviews as well false advertising this is not saving you money. Charged 2.41 per day for line rental compared to my other power company who charges 90c because I don't live there. Cut my bill in half! Took me a solid 3 days before their world class chat function was actually active as well. Highly recommended you stay clear of them.

I should have read the reviews. There is no possible way this company saves you money, you have to pay up front for your estimate usage and then spend hours trying to buy power for a discount. Save your time go with a traditional power company these guys will not save you money - its impossible

Their app and website are better, good graphs and charts of energy usage.
