My Go-To Platform for Building Photography Websites

I’m a photographer with some experience in website design. I used to work with Squarespace, but I found Portfoliobox much easier and more intuitive for creating portfolios. If you’re not very experienced with web design or feel a bit anxious about it, Portfoliobox offers plenty of helpful guides and templates to get you started. I can definitely recommend giving it a try!

I highly recommend Portfoliobox. Ive been using it to host my website since 2016 and have upgraded each time a new build has come out. V4 is a level up. For hosting images in a professional format, i cannot think of a better platform. 110% recommended. Great price too!

Finally!

I’ve tried almost every platform out there — Carrd, Canva, Webflow, Notion — but none of them gave me the perfect balance of creative freedom and simplicity like Portfoliobox does. It’s clear this platform was built with artists, photographers, filmmakers, and designers in mind.

The interface is clean, intuitive, and lets me focus on showing my work rather than wasting time tweaking endless settings like other platforms. Embedding videos, customizing pages, and building a professional-looking portfolio felt effortless — and the final result actually stands out without looking generic or overdesigned.

My only small wish: I hope they add support for embedding videos directly from Google Drive in the future. That would make it even more flexible, especially for creators who don’t want to rely only on YouTube or Vimeo.

Other than that, Portfoliobox is hands down the best choice I’ve found for creative portfolios.

The BEST website builder hands down!

I'm convinced the low ratings are user error. I can not recommend this website platform enough. Its user friendly, extremely affordable and the customer service has been amazing and SO fast! This is not paid or sponsored, I just am constantly impressed and happy to have stumbled across them. I am coming up a year of using them and have no plans of changing that. I've tried all of the mainstream website builders and this by far is the best.

The website is ok, the customer service is non existing

I have the website with them since a year ago and the website itself is ok, but even paying I couldnt have any reply to the questions I had building my portfolio. I had issuea with the password protected tabs and I needed to find an alternative for this files as it a year sending several questions and absolutelly no one answers me.
I just saw the answer, thank you very much for your time. I talked a few months ago with someone through linkedIn and told me about the spam, but I couldn't find anything on spam. Sorry, I have no idea how to reply this or getting in touch

Stay away

This website is a nightmare to use and takes your hard earned money. I’ve given portfoliobox dozens of chances as it’s hard to find alternatives. I’ve spent hours of my life trying to make my portfolio for my modeling on here and it’s so difficult to use it takes like an hour to do one task and you have to pay which is fine but it’s so expensive for such a sack of sh!t.

Portfoliobox is affordable + excellent support. I am happy

Portfoliobox is amazing! I changed from Squarespace to Portfoliobox, because SQ charges more than double the price for the same features I need. I am a Visual Designer. I think Portfoliobox is super affordable compared to other website builders, but still packed with all the features you’d need for a creative portfolio. There is a little learning curve to understanding the product and they could certainly work a bit on the building panel to smoothen the user experience, but other than that I have zero to complain. Their customer support is the best— I seriously have never seen anything like that. Their support is quick, helpful, and always goes beyond to solve any kind of issues. Highly recommend!

They force you to delete your account and website to get a refund

After 10 years as a loyal customer with an annual paid account, Portfoliobox forced me to delete my entire account and all my content as a condition to get a refund. This happened after I canceled my subscription on time but refused to accept their discount offers or provide feedback in their satisfaction survey.

It feels like punishment for canceling my paid subscription, as they don’t allow you to switch to a free account after having a paid one and require you to delete everything, an abusive and unacceptable practice.

Their servers also frequently failed during critical moments when I needed to share my portfolio, causing professional setbacks. Customer service is unhelpful, and their policies lack transparency. Avoid this platform, there are far better and more reliable alternatives available.

We can see that your website was on the legacy version of our product, Portfoliobox 3, which had limited plan options.

Regarding the cancellation process, our records show that your subscription was not cancelled at the time you requested a refund. Instead, a "Make instant request" was submitted through our help page, which did not complete the cancellation of your subscription but created a request to the support team. We understand this may have caused confusion and apologize if this process wasn’t clear.

In terms of solutions regarding your subscription, we offered two options: the first was a downgrade of your subscription, and the second, after your cancellation request, was a substantial discount to keep your paid version active. Unfortunately, we did not receive a response from you regarding these options.

Regarding the performance of our servers, we want to clarify that we use the same reliable infrastructure as industry leaders such as Amazon, Netflix, and AirBnB for example. Any issues you may have encountered are certainly not due to the server performance, and we take any such concerns serious.

They have terrible customer service, and punishment for getting into the payment plan.

They have terrible customer service. If you really need to use them, keep the free version, do NOT pay. If at any point you need to pause or stop the monthly payments, they only offer to delete your entire worked website. Zero solution was given, and the only threat was to erase my site if I stop paying the fee.

unauthorized charges

I'm a 35-year-old Designer, And my experience with PORTFOLIOBOX has been incredibly frustrating and disappointing. When I signed up, I chose what I thought was an affordable plan based on the prices displayed on their website. However, I was shocked to discover unauthorized charges for a higher-priced PRO plan that I never selected or agreed to. This came after spending a month diligently creating my portfolio on their platform. Despite their claims of a pricing update, I feel misled and let down by their misleading practices. The responses from customer service have been unhelpful and failed to address my concerns adequately. This experience has not only wasted my time but also left me feeling deceived and unsure about their transparency. I urge others to be cautious when considering their services.

When you upgraded your plan on May 28th, the pricing and plan details were clearly displayed on the selection page before checkout, including the plan name and the full price. There was no mention of new pricing or plans at that time, as the updated prices were only introduced on June 19th.

It seems there may have been a misunderstanding, as the plan you selected includes additional features and higher quotas, offering more value compared to our current options. While we did update our pricing later, this change did not affect your selected plan, which now offers you a better deal than a comparable plan at the current pricing.

We strive to be transparent with our customers, and I apologize if this wasn’t your experience.

A brilliant and easy way to set up your own website if like me you have very limited knowledge of the subject. What made it so easy for me was the well presented and easy to follow short videos guiding you through everything. INCOMPETENCE DE MA PART OU SITE COMPLEXE

Je suis nouveau sur se site je l'ai pris pour la vente de photos. C'était ma première expérience et je ne suis pas un champion. il m'a fallu plus de 100 heures pour le réaliser. par contre le SAV marche très bien ils m'ont énormément aider par des réponses assez rapide. Mais parfois les traductions GOOGLE sont approximatives.
La mise en vente de photos presque 300 la première fois est assez fastidieuse et longue.
J'avais beau classer mes photos avant de les importer je ne sais pas pourquoi elles arrivaient dans un ordre différent.
aujourd'hui je vais m'attaquer à l'importation de vidéos (malheureusement je suis obligé de passer par YouTube ce qui n'est pas très pratique une fois de plus.
1 partage 2 importer la photo 3 ajouter une photo 4 nommer la photo 5 le prix 6 paramètre de produit 7 paramètre généraux 8 créer une catégorie 9 cliquer sur la catégorie adéquate 10 ok 11 sortir 12 téléchargement numérique 13 ok 14 trouver le produit partage 15 clic 16 sortir 17 clic pour trouver la photo (c'est que sa se complique les photos ne sont pas toujours dans l'ordre) 18 clic sur photo choisie 19 ok...20 clics pour une photo???? et on recommence...Si quelqu'un connait des raccourcis je suis preneur. Imaginez 300 photos.depuis j'en ai enlevé plus de 200 et quand j'en met d'autre je suis plus sévère dans mes choix.

Dans la librairie d'images, vous avez la possibilité de taguer vos images et de rechercher par nom de fichier ou par tag.

Lors de l'importation, certaines images sont plus rapides à importer et seront importées en premier.

La création d'une boutique en ligne prend en effet beaucoup de temps, car chaque article doit être créé séparément. Cependant, il vous est possible de dupliquer les articles pour ne pas avoir à reconfigurer les options, les catégories, la mise en page, etc. Seul le contenu de l'article (texte, photo et prix, le cas échéant) devra être modifié. Cela réduira considérablement le nombre de clic.

En ce qui concerne les vidéos, l'intégration à partir de Vimeo ou Youtube profite considérablement à votre site. Ces plateformes soulagent les serveurs, offrent moins de restrictions de format et de taille et garantissent une lecture vidéo rapide et de haute qualité. C'est aussi la meilleure option en terme de SEO.
