I have used Shipley for years to move…

I have used Shipley for years to move individual items but they have become rather unreasonably expensive and the price from Porta was fair. I did have to chase them though and the communication wasnt as sharp as it could have been. The table we had bought arrived in good condition so nothing to complain about

Easy to use web based platform

Easy to use web based platform, fair and flexible pricing and easy to contact via chat with a quick response. Collection was inside the contracted time window and delivery was within 48 hours, which was quite impressive given the distance and the fact that Porta are a low volume, high value business. Communication was generally excellent although I want told when it would be delivered.

I would not recommend using this company

We were forced to refuse their service due to the shockingly poor level of professionalism.

We arranged transport for a brand new large TV (around 85 inches). The company’s website presents them as professional movers specialising in high-value, large electronics, which initially gave us confidence.

However, in reality, this appears to be nothing more than a middleman service that outsources jobs to third-party contractors, whose quality you have no control over.

In our case, two individuals arrived who clearly had no idea what they were doing. They had no information about the order at all — despite us providing full details, measurements, and photos of the TV in advance. They even questioned basic aspects of the job upon arrival.

They came completely unprepared:
- no proper packaging
- no protective materials
- no straps or equipment to secure the TV

Instead, they brought a couple of used, crumpled cardboard pieces that were smaller than the screen itself and suggested using those for protection.

Even more concerning, they intended to transport the TV lying flat in their van. When I pointed out that large TVs must be transported upright (as per manufacturer guidelines), they seemed surprised. At that moment it became clear they had no understanding of how to handle or transport such equipment.

We immediately lost all trust and refused the service.

After that:
- phone numbers were unreachable
- we could not contact the office
- the movers themselves were surprised by the price we had paid and implied they receive less than half of it

Overall, this was an extremely disappointing experience. The service felt disorganised, unprofessional, and unreliable from start to finish.

We are actually relieved that we refused the service, as we are confident it would not have ended well for our TV.

I strongly do not recommend this company.

I've never used a courier service…

I've never used a courier service before and can honestly say I was pleased with the service I received. The driver, Darren, was extremely helpful and polite when I needed to call him with an update. He called when he was 40 minutes away which gave me time to get to my elderly dad's house to receive his mobility scooter. And then another call to say he was 3 minutes away. He carried the scooter to the front door. Exceptional service from both Darren and Portadelivey. If I need to use such a service again in the future I wouldn't hesitate us this company again.

Excellent service!

After buying a bike shed on eBay without fully considering how we were going to transport it from rural North Wales I came across Porta Delivery via a Google search.

The quote process was quick and straightforward. Communication was excellent- we were kept informed every step of the way.
The delivery drivers were friendly, professional, and went above and beyond to help us manoeuvre the shed exactly where we wanted it.

Fantastic service, very reasonably priced, and completely hassle-free. Will definitely be using Porta Delivery again!

Very hard to communicate

It was really hard to contact with the driver. After the driver assigned, I messaged him three times to ask when he will come to the collection point, no answer at all. I finally could talk to him in the afternoon a day before (i had to call him). The collection was 8am, so it was really frustrating not knowing the schedule a day before, and make it extremely hard to schedule things with the seller.
Also he showed up half an hour late, and he informed this delay after the collection time. I wouldn't use the service again, given that you can get better arrangement and real time tracking with the other service providers.

Update: No? the driver was assigned Saturday 10:20 am. I waited him to contact me, but that didn't happen, so I messaged him 19:00 that day. No reply. Sent another message at 11:37 Sunday, no reply. Ended up calling him at 15:18 Sunday to discuss the collection next day morning. I wonder when he would reach out to me if I didn't call him. And he could have message me when he is running late? Porta advertised the service as a great courier when you have FB marketplace deal, but the seller had to wait at his place without any notice.

I wasn't expect the delivery should be asap, I just wanted to confirm the delivey time so that I can stay home and get the furniture. And yes, it was delivered within the timeframe, i have no problem with that. That is why i gave you three stars at least. But it was clear that the communication is really poor and it was really frustrating for me. That's the fact.
I can see that you try to defend your company by invalidating customers feedbacks (i can see that in other comments too), but this will not make your business better. I tried multiple couriers in this country, for moving and also for second hand furniture buy, but this was the most horrible customer service and I would never use your service again.

If you look through our positive reviews, communication is usually something customers highlight, and the courier on this job is normally one of our top-rated couriers! So I’m genuinely sorry this one fell short, it’s not the standard we aim for.

We’d really like the chance to put this right. If you’re open to it, we can offer a voucher for another booking and make sure you have a much better experience next time.

Broke my bed and refused to compensate for clear damages (payed for insurance)

Specified we had move a super king size bed to our residence. The mover had an awful attitude, was very unhelpful and clearly not skilled enough in moving items, and had to take the bed in and out of the van four times, in the process damaged the bed by breaking one of its foot clips/legs and callously dragged both the bed and mattress on the floor when loading and later unloading the bed. This is clear in the video attached.

When he finally arrived at our residence, he denied causing any damages then chucked the bed and mattress on the ground, dragging it on the floor and breaking all but a few foot clips off the bed then denying it on the spot, and stormed away in his van; leaving us to all carry the items.

Porta refused compensate for causing the damages (attached), which is now a loss of excess of £2,000; despite paying for insurance through this site to cover damages. They denied responsibility, citing insufficient and conflicting evidence, also attached to this review. They merely refunded the delivery fee which is insignificant compared to the price of the bed and mattress, which is no longer viable for repair.

In addition, porta have removed a negative review highlighting this experience left by a family member on Trust Pilot.

Do not use this site, nor buy any insurance through this site, they way they handle damage claims is completely unethical, please stay away!

We note this is the second review posted about the same delivery by members of the same household within 24 hours, none of which are from the account that made the original booking.

This appears to be a coordinated attempt to damage our reputation while a claims process is underway. We have reported all related reviews to Trustpilot accordingly.

We are in active communication with the customer and are working through the claim properly. We will not be pressured into bypassing due process by a campaign of this nature.

Other customers can be assured that we take genuine damage claims seriously and handle them fairly, as we are doing here.

One star is too much

One star is too much. Porta moved our bed and caused so much damage in the process that the bed is now ruined. Dirt from the van, four broken legs, dirt and marks from it being dragged. The driver left it in the street and drove off. Unbelievable and very stressful experience. We paid for insurance too and Porta are denying any responsibility and are not responding to us after everything. Do not pay for insurance and do not use Porta.

Update as of 9 April: Appreciate your response but as they say the proof of the pudding is in the eating. I am married to the person who instructed you, I was there when your mover arrived to collect and when he delivered (although I was inside and only witnessed him driving off having ‘dumped’ the remaining parts of the bed. Cameron is my son and witnessed the delivery. I could have added more to my review before, for example an unprompted approach from a neighbour who witnessed from his window how your mover treated our bed. Zero respect for us or our belongings resulting in excessive damage. If you are the company you say you are, I am sure you can address this professionally and fairly for us.

I highly can recomend Porta Delivery

I can recomend Porta Delivery. Easy to book online. Driver was very nice and kept line of communication. All my things arrived safely undamaged. Driver even combined 2 deliveries in one day. Which was amazing. I certainly will ise their services again if I need to.
