This is mainly for Novells restaurant

This is mainly for Novells restaurant. Despite being extremely busy and being told there'd be a 20 minute wait for food it was delivered fairly quickly in under ten minutes. Breakfasts are good value for money nicely cooked and very filling with generous portions. Staff are always pleasant and very helpful.
For the rest of the garden centre some of the private shops can be slow to get served and often understaffed but Polhill's own service is always very good.

Excellent service

For years, they are supplying best quality plants and all necessary items for gardening. Also a huge selection of Bird foods.

Beautifully laid out and gorgeous high…

Beautifully laid out and gorgeous high quality items. However, the crowds and coach loads of people made it a really difficult environment to be in. I think that coach parties should be limited to one day per week.

We often come to you not only at…

We often come to you not only at Christmas but throughout the year.Its a bonus that we have a membership & that we get a free coffee each month plus a little gift at times,but regardless of that we enjoy the outside planting,the grocers shop,butchers,the restaurant & the team that works there.Thank you polhill & merry Christmas to you all.

Visited today and not much goodwill here, well not to the many of us that have dogs at least. Most Garden Centres allow dogs now and since covid there has been an explosion in dog ownership - a route around the place could easily be devised without entering the food hall, or having zones that dogs are not permitted. Yes, I understand there may be challenges but these for Polehill are opportunities - If other Garden Centres can manage it why not Polehill? Maybe the management team needs to take a trip around some of the other centres and see how its done? It clearly costs them business, ours at least...

Bacon besmirchment

So today I had the displeasure of ordering a bacon bap at your establishment. After a 15 minute wait ( I was expecting hog roast at this point) to my besmirchment I received a tealight heated piece of ham!! The lady’s attitude was disgusting and I felt as though I needed to go and make the bacon bap myself. Needless to say I won’t be in a rush to return. If I want a ham sandwich again I’ll just got to Tesco.

I placed an online order with Polhill…

I placed an online order with Polhill on the 28/10/24 and it was delivered two days later. It was very well packaged & the plants were great. I was updated all the way through as to tracking etc.

The only thing I would fault them on is not having a first ever order discount like nearly every other company online but other than that I can't fault them and will most probably order off them again in future and hopefully they'll start doing some sort of discount for people who order off them.

Probably the least inspiring place…

Probably the least inspiring place purporting to be a garden centre that I've ever had the misfortune to visit.
A really poor attitude toward dog owners, I saw a pleasant couple being very sharply told NOT to take their dog in, it was their first visit and I'm more than sure it'll be the last. Just what is the problem with dogs? I'm pretty sure there will be plenty of times a dog would be more pleasant company!!
Altogether a soulless event.

Our dog policy has been in place for a long time and is due to hygiene reasons, particularly in consideration of our retail partners on-site. This is similar to policies in supermarkets, where dogs are not permitted for the same reasons.

We aim to provide a welcoming environment for all our visitors, but we must prioritise hygiene and the comfort of all our customers. We hope you’ll reconsider your rating and perhaps revisit us to experience more of what we have to offer.

Staff on the check-out have no idea of customer service

Staff on the check-out have no idea of customer service---attempted to buy some plants including roses which had a 10% off if you downloaded their App. App would not load and they refused to give me 10% off. I was told that it takes 10 minutes to load their App--ridiculous. Asked for details of their complaints procedure and was given a card with the information on it. When I walked out of the shop with the card I was chased by a check-out assistant and told to give it back as it could not be taken out of the shop. It appears that the check-out assistants have no regard for customer service. Something that could have been easily handled by an apology about their App and just giving me the 10% discount would have solved the problem. Better training could, hopefully, improve this dismal experience.

The restaurant don’t bother

The restaurant , one we have used for so many years , but , it’s the food I have a problem with . A “roast” dinner dry chicken , potatoes unseasoned and probably deep fried definitely not roasted , vegetables so over cooked they are mush , and a Yorkshire that has been left on the pass so long it’s softened and collapsed on itself , but worse , it’s very salty and /or completely tasteless , I resent spending so much money on food that we won’t eat . However if it’s just a drink that you want , then , the coffee is good .
It’s been so long since I wrote this review , I was surprised that there had been a response , I can say that we have avoided Polhill since , I’m glad your positive about your coffee , good job.
I’m disappointed with the response , but thank you for at least responding .

New system in restaurant

New system in restaurant. Orders done by you on a tablet (kiosk they call it) Most still queue and pay at till instead. Been a few times. Hit and miss on service. Coffees first two times, lukewarm as been standing on counter awaiting bringing to us? Bacon rolls nice, as use normal rolls. All lunches £14-15, a bit dear considering you can get a two course toby carvery for £12.79 over the road.
Just got a cake and a bowl of chips today, coffees were hot and cake came with them. Waited 20 mins for chips, had to go to till in the end and ask where they were. The girl on till went and got them instead. Had finished drinks by then. Chips are very nice.
Pity they forgot the order and we had to remind them. I don't like ordering on the screen as cannot get a receipt. Otherwise they seem to have lot of staff there. Cannot see what cakes and food looks like before ordering. Why not put up some photo's of it.

The kiosk is designed to make the process quicker and smoother, but we understand it may take some getting used to. For those who prefer, the option to order and pay at the till is still available.

We’re sorry about the delay with your chips and will look into how such errors can be avoided in future. We’re also reviewing ways to improve the kiosk experience, such as including photos of the cakes and dishes to help customers decide.

Regarding pricing, our meals are priced higher than those across the road as we use high-quality ingredients and focus on preparing fresh, delicious dishes. We hope this helps clarify the difference.

Dan saves the day!

Dan saves the day! I bought a large (4x3) Royce Cube Gazebo from Polhill garden centre, however when I came to assemble it on the morning of my son’s 21st Birthday and with a party in the afternoon I found multiple parts were missing. I called Polhill and was put through to Dan, who took a note of all the missing parts (9 Pieces in total!). I have to say I wasn’t expecting much and was sat in the garden with a half built gazebo and the clock ticking before guests started to arrive. However Dan called me back promptly, told me he had located all the missing parts and best of all said he was going to deliver them personally. Dan then drove the 12 miles to my house and promptly delivered all the missing bits. I finished the gazebo minutes before guests arrived and all was well. Not a great review for Royce but Dan went above and beyond, massive thanks Dan!
