…. and therefore, a far from positive experience.

Had used these guys some years ago for a specialist design without any issue, so asked them to repeat a previous order for the same vehicle, as after 6 years the plates were starting to look tired.

All went through ok, but noticed a significant increase in both cost and shipping fees since the the last order. Thought nothing more about it and the plates duly turned up after a few days.

All looked to be in order, however on closer inspection, noticed that they had forgotten to add the BSAU number, thus making the plates nothing more than show plates, an instant MOT failure, and illegal to use on a public road.

This is where the problems started. Having contacted them immediately to advise them of their error, I received an email back stating that it was my fault for not specifying that they were to be Road legal. I argued that I had asked them to repeat a previous order which they held on file, for road legal plates, same design, same registration etc, and they accepted the order and my money on that basis of sale.

I was then told that the rules had changed, (utter rubbish) and an exchange of emails followed between us with them sticking to their story and it was basically my problem, and not theirs. I offered to send them back to have the missing legal requirement added, and gave them a further option to simply reprint them as per my previous order, but was told that they wouldn’t do that, and I would have to reorder and pay again.

I opened a dispute with PayPal who were worse than useless and didn’t want to get involved, despite dragging it out for weeks (another one to watch out for, as you have no Buyer Protection even when you jump through hoops with them) and I opened a further dispute with TrustedShop, their affiliate trading partner in Germany, who, like PayPal didn’t want to get involved either. I then spoke to my Bank as any further attempt at dialogue between myself and PfC had been totally ignored by them.

My Bank fortunately managed to reclaim the money back in full from this shady operator, and I then received about a month later a threatening email from them suggesting Court action. I told them to bring it on, and that is the last that I heard from them.

Avoid this company like the plague. Either complacency or a change of ownership must have crept in here, as their attitude towards their customers when they have made an error is diabolical. This operation is a classic example of caveat emptor!

As a final further word of warning, by using PayPal as a payment platform, you forfeit all your protections and rights under S.75 of the consumer credit act that you would have had if you had used your credit card directly to make the purchase. Not many people realise this until you get caught out, and then nobody wants to take some ownership and responsibility of the issue. PayPal Account was duly closed in protest after over 20 years as a customer as a result of their inaction as well, be warned!!

used these guys many times our recent order was really bad the front plate had sticky residue or something to that on it company useless no replys at much just one to say use dw40,which i did its not moved it off at a ll.Had to go through bank to claim something back becusae they dont even care about how sloppy there work is,Trust me dont use them £83 wasted totally rubbish i wounder if they have changed ownership or something

3rd time customer. Irish DPD tracker showed plates send to wrong depot in England where they were repeatedly picked up, scanned and put down. Ireland DPD unable to communicate with UK DPD. Eventually got 2 days late, left in street by DPD despite instructions for safe place. Plates are good but next time I will remember source & courier.

I am really disappointed! I have used these for years and never had a problem, until now. Plates arrived faulty with dust and hair laminated between the plates. The printed letters had blue shadows (was told this is normal -it’s not!) as not all the letters had this. It’s just their lack of QC! And for the price charged you expect a quality product which they used to supply.
when I raised this with them they were less than helpful and I felt they were quite rude and awful customer service. I eventually got part refund back after back and forth on email and sending pictures of snapped plates. I’m Still waiting for the full refund. I have bought better quality pates elsewhere now for less! I will never return to these and I certainly won’t recommend them any more. It’s a shame as I have always thought these were the best! but they are far from this now. Do not waste your money with these you will only be disappointed! go elsewhere and save yourself a headache and money!

Faulty number plate supplied and no sticky pads received as paid on the invoice. Photo supplied and no reply to any of my emails. Notification of issue was emailed on day of delivery of plates and no telephone number to be found either on the web or invoices.

A pre purchase e mail was promptly and politely responded to. I then ordered uk legal plates for my Volvo with the Volvo logo and contrasting blue border. They arrived ahead of schedule, nicely protected in a bespoke box and are exactly as ordered. They seem great quality and have brightened up the appearance of my car no end. I am delighted with my order and will have no hesitation in ordering again from PFC in the future.

Plain plates - no fancy lettering etc - Ordered Tuesday. Emails kept me updated with delivery date. Arrived Friday, 3 days before I was expecting them. Perfectly packaged - no problem at all

I bought a set of plates and had made a mistake with the reg number. I immediately contacted them (5 minutes after placing the order) to be told nothing could be done but to return them once received. The company purport to be in the UK (their web address is .co.uk) but they are based in Dublin. The plates are sent from the UK but to return them I had to send to Eire. This cost me 16 Euros in postage (non refundable) but the package got held up in Irish Customs because I had to pay 20+ Euros duty. This all started last February. Throughout, PFC have been very unhelpful and non-communicative. Even their alliance with 'Trusted Shops' did not help my case. There is something about their set up which gives cause for concern. I would advise anyone looking for number plates to avoid this company and choose a company actually based in the UK. I am now about £70 out of pocket for a pair of number plates I cannot use.

I wish I had seen these reviews before paying with my money.
When the plates arrived the first thing I noticed was the blue logo background was purple and not blue. On further research I found these plates not to be UK Legal. When I messaged ppf blocked my email address. I’m looking at paying over £25.00 to send the plates back to Ireland but would I ever see a refund?
Please spend your money with another more reputable company.

I ordered my new plates before I read the reviews and thought I was going to end up disappointed. Needn’t have worried. The plates were made up and dispatched really quickly and were just what I wanted.

I can only comment on my own experience and I can’t fault it. Yes they are expensive but the quality seems very good and I couldn’t find anyone else to make the size plates I needed. So i just decided to bite the bullet and see how they were. I’m happy with my purchase.

Ignore negative reviews, I ordered plates with a black border and blue GB section with flag. I took the DPD saver option at £6.99 and the plates arrived within two and a half days.
They look amazing and have really changed the look of the car. They are very good quality.
Anybody who cracked the plate, or distorted the lettering vlearly presses on too hard with the drill. I covered the area to be drilled with masking tape, then bound the old plate to the new with masking tape and went steady with the drill. Easy when you know how!
Also, anybody who resorts to making racist or stereotypical comments on a public website, clearly doesn't have a valid opinion on anything.

Today is Saturday 27th of April & I’ve just received my number plates, having ordered them on Thursday the 25th, I have to say this is the most efficient purchase I’ve ever made online, 2 days delivery from Ireland to UK, also I used the DPD saver option which should have taken longer. I’m just amazed.
The best part about the whole thing is that the number plates are the most gorgeous plates I’ve ever seen, quality is top class, the design is levels above. I’m just impressed.. well done Plates for Car, thanks so much

Shocking price for deliveries and they are never on time - avoid at all times - these guys ask a fortune for deliver y and don't actually deliver in time and then tell you that you had a different delivery time. AVOID - they advertise 4.8 stars on their OWN website - rubbish - will never use again.

I wish I can give less than one star. Absolute shocking service. Ordered plates, paid nearly £20 for next day delivery. After a couple of days I emailed wondering where they were. Was told it was plus 1 day delivery due to my remote location. ( live 20mins from a major city). It’s been 10 days( still no plates). Now I’m told I selected collection only. Why would I do that? I have a confirmation from them stating the delivery address. Been demanding a full refund, but as yet, nothingAvoid at all costs

I have been using Plates For Cars for quite a few years without problems. Recently I needed a set of plates but they were required urgently so I paid for next day delivery. They didn't arrive until two days later which really screwed up my arrangements. Despite several emails, the company have not replied and they do not publish a phone number so that you can speak to them directly. Very poor service as a result of which I will not be using them again.

Avoid avoid and once again avoid.

Ordered plates on 27th of march.
Shortly after payment sent email regards order just to confirm everything.
Never answered that .
Paid extra for delivery 1-2days.
Arrived after 6days. Because no one answered emails I rejected parcel and informed about this company. Also mentioned that such long delivery was not what I ordered.
They answered after a day and asked numerous questions , why I rejected etc.
Sent them return confirmation of delivery and asked about refund. They claimed will be issued after 3-7 days.
Unfortunately that was last email from them and so far no one have not answered any email or reached out .

Avoid this joke of a company. They are hidden away on an island somewhere...no contact number and take a week to reply.
My order was delayed so i bought elsewhere. They still sent a replacement. I returned them and they claim they never received my return.
I am currently £39.99 out of pocket and still awaiting a refund....DO NOT BUY !!!

Package was left outside my property and didn't receive it. Company was very unhelpful and ignored me until I chased them. Continuous back and forth about receiving the package even with the photographic evidence that it was left outside. Very rude - would not reccomend anyone buy from here as if anything goes wrong they are not helpful

Ordered 4D plates, they sent out normal ones. I emailed to notify and they argued with me over email. Not even a hint of apology or resolution, they didn’t seem to care.

Horrific customer service. Avoid.
