Battery durability needs to improve
Dear Permobil,
This is a general complaint hoping you guys can take a look at the performance of the lifetime battery of the power wheelchairs especially the M 300 because it has been a living hell!
Since I came to Rhode Island in 2009 I have had a Permobil power wheelchair, I love the stability and performance of all the chairs that I had in the past, especially the long-lasting battery… For example from 2010 to 2014 I had a Permobil power wheelchair that I use very often to go to college that was 5 - 7 minutes from where I used to live I used to go to college 3 times per week… 10 minutes to get to college, 2 to 3 hours going up and down inside the college going back to my house and sometimes going out again to see my doctor in Rhode Island Hospital that it was 19 minutes from where I used to lived and my chair had a battery of online 2 green light missing.
Another example that I have is going from my house to the eye clinic without taking public transportation from my house to the eye clinic it was about 21 min just to go there and 21 min more going back there because the battery of the chair was in the first orange line which is fine because is a long distance but I can’t complain for the chairs that I had from 2010 to 2014 and 2016 to 2020 or so those chairs were the best chair I had like they got a battery change yes but it was necessary it was an old chair by the time I requested for a new battery, they had wheels change it was necessary but battery life was the best of the best I was able to do all my work and worry less about the battery.
Now this chair Permobil M 300! I don’t know what is the problem with this chair!! Brand new, had to call because the battery duration was very little. They change the batteries and I thought ok now it will be better but no the problem is the same! Now, you may think this is normal or that I am not charging the chair but unfortunately I charge my chair every night and disconnect it after is done so is not me. I can’t do anything I go to the Mall no an hour goes by is already in orange, 15 minutes from my house to do some groceries go back to my house, and is already in RED. I find the lifetime of the battery has decreased incredibly. If I’m in Walmart and I need to wait in line I have to turn off the chair because if not I’m afraid I will lose my battery, I used to wait in lines with my chair on and everything was fine, I used to go to places 10, 15, 20 minutes from where I live now is not even enjoyable to go out because I don’t have enough battery, I go to the ZOO you guys should know how big can be a Zoo I used to go around the whole Zoo without any problem now not even half of the zoo and is dead! Is so frustrating! Permobil M 300 has the worst chair performance in every aspect just talking about the battery but everything with this chair has been completely annoying and frustrating including the positions bottoms that stop working unexpectedly. Worst chair ever!

I received my permobil last April, Still a big headache. Been waiting for my arm wells. Service is horrendous. Still get stuck on a daily basis.

My brother-in-laws wheelchair has been in need of a part which was ordered from the over 5 weeks ago and they have the part in stock and have not shipped it. They said it is because of them changing over their computer system. No-one can figure out how to send this item which is IN STOCK! I find this to be unacceptable. The customer service is terrible!!
Great products with poor service
I purchased a Tilite chair last year – a Permobil product, and had a very poor experience.
My previous two chairs were the same model and fit perfectly, no complaints. I asked the sales rep to order it exactly the same. When he delivered the chair I pointed out differences, but they seemed minor at the time and I wasn't forcefull enough – I should not have accepted delivery.
After using the chair I quickly realized the significance of the poor fit and contacted the rep back – who said he would stop by to address the issues but never did. They had their money and didn't want to own the problem. I contacted customer service at Permobil and they didn't respond either, so this will be my last Tilite.
The poor rating is not for product quality but for poor customer service from their authorized sellers and a parent company that just doesn't care.
The reseller that provided my chair was Medical Solutions of Arkansas.
